Mark Robert Jindrak (born June 26, 1977) is an American professional wrestler, best known for his appearances with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He currently wrestles for Mexican promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) under the ring name Marco Corleone for 3 years he wrestled there until jumping to rival promotion Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) in March 2009, Jindrak returned to CMLL in December 2011. He worked for Mexican promotion Perros del Mal and Lucha Libre USA.

Professional wrestling career[link]

World Championship Wrestling (2000–2001)[link]

Jindrak trained in the WCW Power Plant under Paul Orndorff.^[4] He was promoted to the main WCW roster in June 2000 under the Vince Russo era where he formed a tag team with fellow Power Plant graduate Sean O'Haire. In August 2000, Jindrak and O'Haire helped form the Natural Born Thrillers with Mike Sanders, Shawn Stasiak, Chuck Palumbo, Johnny "The Bull" Stamboli, and Reno.^[4] They were briefly "coached" by Kevin Nash.^[4]

In September 2000, Jindrak won the WCW World Tag Team Championship with O'Haire for the first time, despite being relatively new in the business. The pair would win WCW Tag team gold one more time before splitting in early January 2001 when Jindrak would begin teaming with Stasiak instead. The team was short lived, as Stasiak went on to pick up the managerial service of Stacy Keibler and Jindrak disappeared.

World Wrestling Federation / Entertainment (2001–2005)[link]

After the World Wrestling Federation purchased WCW in March 2001, Jindrak came into the company in July 2001 as part of The Alliance that invaded the WWF roster. Jindrak wrestled in dark matches and at house shows throughout July. His debut and only televised match was on the July 28, 2001 episode of Jakked, defeating Jerry Lynn.

In late August of that year Mark Jindrak was sent to the Heartland Wrestling Association. There he was a member of Team WCW along with Mike Sanders, Johnny The Bull, Reno, Jason Jett, Lash LeRoux, Shannon Moore, Evan Karagias, Kwee Wee, Elix Skipper and Jamie Knoble. In October 2001 Jindrak was moved to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) for training until March 2002 when he suffered a knee injury. Jindrak returned to OVW in July 2002. He also returned to WWE on the October 13, 2002 episode Sunday Night Heat defeating Justin Credible. He made a few more appearances on Heat in late 2002, defeating wrestlers such as Credible, Raven, and Stevie Richards until suffering an ankle injury. Jindrak returned to OVW in March 2003 following his recovery, and joined Kenny Bolin's "Bolin Services" stable and teamed with Garrison Cade while in OVW.

Jindrak was soon called up by WWE. He made his Raw debut on July 7, 2003 as a face where he was defeated by Chris Jericho. He then continued his tag team with Garrison Cade on the Raw brand. The team feuded with teams such as La Résistance, Evolution, and The Dudley Boyz. The team soon separated when Jindrak was drafted to the SmackDown! brand on March 22, 2004.

He first appeared on SmackDown!'s sister show Velocity, where he turned heel and adopted an egotistical, narcissistic gimmick obsessed with his own physique while calling himself "The Reflection of Perfection". On April 8, 2004, Jindrak gained Theodore Long's managerial services for a brief period until the pair split in July when Long turned face and became the general manager of SmackDown! while Jindrak remained on Velocity.

In September, Jindrak aligned himself with Kurt Angle and Luther Reigns, whom he helped take down and shave Big Show bald during the fifth anniversary episode of SmackDown!. Jindrak was in the 2005 Royal Rumble match, entering at number 22, but was eliminated by Kane. Jindrak and Reigns continued to serve as Kurt Angle's proteges and also his bodyguards until February, 2005 when Jindrak and Reigns split from Angle to continue their own feud with The Undertaker.

Jindrak continued to team with Reigns until early March, 2005. The pair began to have a falling out, most notably after Jindrak submitted to a triangle choke, losing a "Double Jeopardy" handicap match on the February 24, 2005 episode of SmackDown! in Philadelphia to The Undertaker. The following week Jindrak and Reigns lost a tag team title match to Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio, and Jindrak turned face once again after getting into a fight with Reigns and knocking him out with a left hook. The next week on SmackDown! on March 10, Jindrak defeated Reigns.

After this, Jindrak became a lower card star performing on Velocity, and only appearing on SmackDown! to job for other wrestlers, portraying both a face and heel character. On the May 28, 2005 episode of Velocity Jindrak faced Orlando Jordan for the United States Championship, however Jindrak lost after Jordan hit him with a blackout. Jindrak's last match as a SmackDown! superstar was on the June 18th episode of Velocity in a losing effort to Rene Dupree, even though he had a good showing in most of the match.

On June 30, 2005, Jindrak became one of the last minute trades in the 2005 WWE Draft, which saw him jump from SmackDown! back to Raw. Jindrak only had one match with the Raw brand, where René Duprée forced him to submit to a cobra clutch. Jindrak was then released from his contract shortly thereafter on July 5, 2005.

Japan (2006)[link]

Jindrak toured New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2006, where he was primarily used as a low-carder. Jindrak did, however, pick up a surprise win over long-time veteran Osamu Nishimura during the tour.

Mark Jindrak was also involved with fellow WWE alumni Matt Morgan. The pair appeared in a short-lived online reality show which was canceled in early 2006 for an unknown reason. Both men later showed up in the Japanese promotion HUSTLE, wrestling as the tag team of Sodom (Jindrak) and Gomorrah (Morgan).

Mexico (2006–present)[link]

In late 2006, Jindrak began working for the Mexican promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre under the name Marco Corleone. He took the name "Corleone" from the film The Godfather.^[3] His gimmick has Italian traits, as a result of joining the promotion with Johnny Stamboli, who was using an Italian gimmick at the time.^[3] Initially a rudo (heel), he turned into a technico (face) due to crowd support.^[3] It was announced in 2008 that Jindrak has been officially banned from performing at wrestling shows in Tijuana, Mexico for a year due to pulling down the tights of his opponent during a match.^[5]

On March 15, 2009, Jindrak, under his Marco Corleone ring name, made a surprise jump from CMLL to AAA, appearing as a surprise corner man for Vampiro during AAA's 2009 Rey de Reyes show. Corleone helped Vampiro win the match against AAA's top heel Konnan.^[6] On March 22, 2010, AAA released Jindrak.^[7] Corleone later stated that he had initially only signed a one-year contract with AAA and had declined to re-sign.^[8]

On April 11, 2010, Mexican promotion Perros del Mal announced that they had signed Jindrak, still using the ring name Marco Corleone, to a contract.^[9]

On December 10, 2011, CMLL announced that Corleone would return to the promotion on December 16 at Sin Piedad.^[10] In his return match, Corleone, Máximo and Rush defeated Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas and Rey Bucanero in two straight falls.^[11] After the event, the trio of Corleone, Rush and Máximo was given the name La Tercia Sensación,^[12] which was later changed to El Bufete del Amor.^[13] On February 19, 2012, El Bufete del Amor defeated Los Hijos del Averno (Averno, Ephesto and Mephisto) to win the CMLL World Trios Championship.^[14]

Lucha Libre USA (2010-2011)[link]

Corleone competed on MTV's lucha libre show, Lucha Libre USA. He became involved with the promotion shortly after leaving AAA in early 2010, and was involved in finding and signing wrestlers for the show.^[8][15]On December 12th, 2010 Corleone, Charly Malice and RJ Brewer were defeated in a four–way elimination match by Lizmark, Jr. to become the inaugural Lucha Libre USA Champion, This episode aired on tape delay on October 1, 2011.^[16]

Due to his success in Mexican promotions, Jindrak has appeared on several Mexican game shows, soap operas, and TV shows, and been featured on the covers of magazines.^[3] He was also named "Best Body in Mexico".^[3] He also wrote a book in Spanish entitled Marco Corleone: las primera luchas de mi vida (Marco Corleon: the first fights of my life) for children, to help them cope with bullying in schools.^[3] Jindrak tried out for the film Remember the Titans, and was offered a role as a football player. As he was in training at the WCW Power Plant at the time however, he turned the role down.^[17]

Personal life[link]

Jindrak has a degree in marketing.^[1] Jindrak played basketball for the Keuka College's Storm in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.^[4] Jindrak had the highest vertical leap in WWE history, and his personal best is over 40 inches (100 cm).^[17]

Jindrak resides in Mexico with his girlfriend.^[3] Jindrak's father is of German descent and his mother is of Italian descent.^[3]

Tyson Moody (born June 19, 1978) is a Canadian professional wrestler, known by his ring name Tyson Dux (pronounced "Dukes"), and is currently wrestling for various independent promotions.

Career[link]

Dux trained under Scott D'Amore, Joe E. Legend and Terry Taylor and debuted in 1997 at the age of 18 in the International Championship Wrestling promotion. He was initially known by the ring name "Muay Thai Kid", with a gimmick that saw him don red karate pants and shave off his hair and eyebrows, before switching to the name Tyson Dux.

Between 2002 and 2004, Dux made several appearances with World Wrestling Entertainment on Heat and Velocity. He appeared in an angle on an episode of SmackDown! in 2003 that saw him pose as a security guard who was attacked by The Undertaker, and in 2005, he wrestled in dark matches at Raw and SmackDown! tapings.

Dux was asked to participate in the East Coast Wrestling Association's 2004 Super 8 Tournament, a tournament highlighting prominent cruiserweights on the independent circuit. However, he was forced to pull out of the tournament on March 31, 2004 after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament while wrestling Mark Jindrak on an episode of Velocity. Dux went on to take part in the 2005 Super 8 Tournament on April 9, 2005, losing to J.J. Perez in the first round.

Dux wrestles for numerous Canadian independent promotions, most prominently Blood sweat and ears and Border City Wrestling. He joined the American Total Nonstop Action Wrestling promotion in April 2006 as a member of Team Canada in the 2006 World X Cup.

He is now wrestling in Blood, Sweat & Ears, Living Legends Wrestling (LLW), Prime Time Wrestling (PWT) and New Vision Pro Wrestling (NVP) where he is the current NVP Pride Champion.

On June 12, 2008, Dux returned to TNA and was confirmed as a member of Team International for the TNA 2008 World X Cup Tournament. He debuted with Pro-Wrestling Zero-One in Japan in late 2008.

On July 25, 2009 Tyson Dux made his debut in Ring of Honor in a losing effort against Tyler Black as a replacement for Nigel McGuinness, who was injured from the previous night.

On September 20, 2009, Tyson Dux was defeated by Mr. Anderson at the inaugural Defiance Wrestling Federation show in Barrie, Ontario. This was Mr. Anderson's first match since leaving World Wrestling Entertainment.

When BSE Pro and Border City Wrestling merged in the beginning of 2010 to form Maximum Pro Wrestling, Dux, at the time the BCW Can-Am Heavyweight Champion, defeated Derek Wylde on March 18 to merge the title with NSP Grand Independent titles, BSE's Suicide Six Pack Championship, which he won from Xtremo, and become the first MaxPro Triple Crown Champion. On April 11 he lost the title to Robbie McAllister. Dux regained the Triple Crown championship on April 17 in North Bay, Ontario.

In May 2010, Dux began wrestling for the Ring of Honor promotion, marking his return to the national wrestling scene.

On September 16, 2010, Dux will complete in the Tenka-Ichi Jr. Tournament for Japanese promotion Pro Wrestling ZERO1.

On January 29, 2011 Dux announced thoughts of retirement from the ring. On his official Facebook page, Dux wrote, "This is quite possibly my last year as a pro wrestler. I have been wrestling for almost 15 years and have loved every minute of it but I think it's time to step back and let the younger more talented kids have the reigns lol."

Dux has been featured in an episode of Kenny vs Spenny in which the two friends train to become the best professional wrestlers. Dux is assigned with training Spenny, who chooses the name "The Nice Guy", whereas Kenny chooses the name "Specimen Yarp". When the actual match occurs, Dux turns on Spenny aiding Kenny and his trainer in a three on one assault. Matthew R. "Matt" Wiese^[2][3] (born September 22, 1971) is an American actor and former professional wrestler. He is best known for his tenure in World Wrestling Entertainment under the ring name Luther Reigns, where he performed on its SmackDown brand.

Early life[link]

Wiese was born in Danville, Illinois before moving with his family and being raised in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan. At age 16, he left to fend for himself and became involved with criminals and gangs while living in the ghetto.^[2] At age 19, he was involved in a fight with a gang member before he was shot, stabbed, and had his throat slit.^[2] Wiese survived the attack. A few years later, he was arrested for aggravated assault on a police officer before being subsequently sentenced to Five years in jail.^[4] Upon his release, he became an Assistant Manager for a McDonald's in Hell's Kitchen and after five years in the position, a friend recommened that he try out for the Power Plant, World Championship Wrestling's professional wrestling school.^[4]

Professional wrestling career[link]

World Championship Wrestling (1997–1998)[link]

Upon completing his training in the Power Plant, Wiese started his wrestling career as an enhancement talent in World Championship Wrestling in 1997 using the ring name Horshu. To complement the name, his hair was shaved into a horseshoe pattern and he would try to work the word "shu" into his promos, which most notably spawned his catchphrase "There's no business like 'shu' business, baby!".^[1] He was also among six wrestlers who "auditioned" for an anti-New World Order faction called Piper's Family on the March 3, 1997 episode of Monday Nitro, spearheaded by "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. After being tested in 30-second impromptu match with Piper, Wiese was quickly defeated via sleeper hold after attempting to use dirty tactics to defeat Piper.^[5] The idea of this faction was quietly dropped by WCW.

AWA Superstars of Wrestling (1999–2003)[link]

After his stint in WCW, Wiese made his way Ultimate Pro Wrestling for more training. After his finishing up in UPW, Wiese, again using his Horshu ring name, debuted in AWA Superstars of Wrestling. During his time there, he won the World Heavyweight Championship and held the title for a total of nine months. However, he was stripped of the title due to missing mandatory title defenses. Horshu left the promotion shortly afterwards. After an interview with Vince McMahon, he received a developmental contract from World Wrestling Entertainment in June 2003. He soon signed on and was sent to wrestle in Ohio Valley Wrestling, WWE's then-developmental territory, where he competed under the ring name Inspector Max Impact.

World Wrestling Entertainment (2004–2005)[link]

Reigns at a house show

After a few non-televised matches before Raw in 2003 in 2004, Wiese was promoted to World Wrestling Entertainment's main roster in April 2004 under the name Luther Reigns, where he became the "assistant" to then-SmackDown! general manager Kurt Angle. Reigns later made his in-ring debut as a heel at the Great American Bash by defeating Charlie Haas, a former member of Kurt Angle's team, with whom Angle was feuding at the time.^[6]

In September, Reigns and Angle introduced the newly drafted Mark Jindrak as a new member of their team during their tag team match against Big Show and Eddie Guerrero, which subsequently led to Jindrak entering the ring and attacking Big Show alongside Angle and Reigns and then shaving his head bald. This led to a four month feud with Big Show.

Reigns and Jindrak then formed a new Team Angle with Angle as the leader. From September 2004 until mid-February 2005, Reigns and Jindrak helped Angle win most of his matches as well as dealing with his enemies. Reigns and Jindrak also began to compete for the Tag Team Championship on occasion. However, the faction split in mid-February as Reigns and Jindrak went off on their own to feud with The Undertaker. On the February 17 episode of SmackDown!, Undertaker defeated Jindrak, after which Reigns smashed a television camera over Undertaker's head. On February 20, Wiese wrestled against The Undertaker at No Way Out. Jindrak was thrown out before the match started and although Reigns managed to hold his own, Undertaker ultimately won the match.^[7]

Following this, the team of Reigns and Jindrak began to have a falling out. Reigns became upset at Jindrak for tapping out in a "Double Jeopardy" handicap match against the Undertaker on the February 24 edition of SmackDown! when Reigns refused to tag in. After the match, Reigns and Jindrak briefly argued before coming to blows, and had to be pulled apart by officials. The following week on the March 3 edition of SmackDown!, Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio defeated Jindrak and Reigns to retain the Tag Team Championship. After the match, Jindrak tried to help Reigns up to his feet after he was pinned, but Reigns smacked Jindrak in response. The two argued until Jindrak knocked Reigns out with a left hook, leading to Jindrak turn face. On the March 10 edition of SmackDown!, Jindrak and Reigns competed in a singles match, which ended with Jindrak pinning Reigns after a left hook, effectively ending their team. Reigns later took part in a 30-man interpromotional battle royal at WrestleMania 21 as a representative of the SmackDown! brand, but was unable to win as fellow SmackDown! superstar Booker T would go on to win the match.

After this, Reigns resumed his feud with Big Show after saying that Big Show embarrassed the SmackDown! brand at WrestleMania 21 when Show lost to Akebono in a sumo match. Reigns unsuccessfully tried to tip over a Jeep to prove he was stronger than Show, who then successfully tipped the Jeep over. Big Show subsequently defeated Reigns in a singles match on the following edition of SmackDown!.

Reigns then wrestled mainly on Velocity, winning the majority of his matches until he requested his release from the company, which was fulfilled on May 11, 2005. According to Wiese, the reason he requested his release was due to creative differences with Paul Heyman, as Heyman originally planned to have him and René Duprée moved to Raw to perform as a tag team. Wiese instead wished to form a stable with Christian and Tyson Tomko with Christian as the group's leader. However, Heyman repeatedly dismissed the idea and Wiese instead negotiated his release.^[4]

Retirement (2005–2006)[link]

Following his departure from WWE, Wiese attempted to become a real estate salesman,^[8] but his plans ultimately fell through. Instead, Wiese returned to wrestling under his Horshu ring name and returned to Ultimate Pro Wrestling in mid-2005 to face Tom Howard for the UPW Heavyweight Championship, but was unable to win the title. On October 13, Horshu lost to The Patriot in a match for Impact Zone Wrestling.^{[1] [1]} before returning to wrestling on June 17 and defeating Sheik Hussein in an impromptu match in his debut for Scott Norton's Wild West Championship Wrestling.^[1] He returned to WWCW September 16, where he wrestled Aaron Aguilera to a no contest after Norton interfered.^[1] Later on in the night, Horshu teamed with Heidenreich in a losing effort to Norton and Aguilera in what turned out to be Wiese's final match.^[1]

In early 2006, he began working as a bodyguard, most notably for the AVN pornography convention in Las Vegas.

On April 19, 2010, it was reported that Wiese had suffered a stroke in December 2009. Weise stated that he believed his steroid use, which began during his time at Arizona State University, and the painkiller addiction he developed from wrestling were contributing factors to the cause of the stroke.^[3] Wiese stated that the stroke "had to happen" and that it "was a gift from God".^[3]

Scott Ronald Garland^[3][8] (born July 2, 1970) is an American professional wrestler, better known by his ring name, Scotty 2 Hotty. He is best known for his appearances with the World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment.

Professional wrestling career[link]

Training[link]

When approximately 14 or 15 years old, Garland wrote to Sue Aitchison, the Community Relations Specialist of the World Wrestling Federation, inquiring from which professional wrestling school the company recruited the majority of their employees. Aitchison responded by telling him that they did not recruit from any particular school and wished him luck. Garland then attempted to call Vince McMahon, but was unable to speak to McMahon directly.^[7][9]

Garland began attending shows at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine, helping the ring crew to construct the wrestling ring.^[7] After an independent promoter saw Garland wrestling with his friends, he offered Garland a job.^[7] In his first match, Garland wrestled Steve Ramsey in a Portland armory on November 23, 1989, the same night the Survivor Series was taking place.^[7][10][11]

In the same year, Garland began wrestling for the Massachusetts-based New England Wrestling. In August 1991, Garland was introduced to the WWF by fellow NEW wrestler Phil Apollo.^[7][10]

World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment (1991–2007)[link]

Early appearances[link]

Garland made his first appearance in October 1991, teaming with Sonny Blaze and using Scott Taylor as his ring name.^[7] Garland continued to attend college throughout his early tenure, and in 1994, he supplemented his income by working as a Fleet Bank bank teller and as the assistant manager of a Spencer's Gifts outlet.^[11] He remained a prominent enhancement talent throughout the mid 1990s.

In 1997, Garland, now working for an insurance company, planned to wrestle tryout matches for Extreme Championship Wrestling. Upon hearing of his plans, Vice President of the WWF Talent Relations, Bruce Prichard, signed him to a contract.^[7] Garland began wrestling in the burgeoning Light Heavyweight division as Scott Taylor. In late 1997, he took part in an eight-man tournament for the vacant Light Heavyweight Championship, but was eliminated in the second round after being chokeslammed by Kane.^[7]

Too Cool[link]

On March 29, 1998 at WrestleMania XIV, Taylor and "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher teamed together for the first time, taking part in a tag team battle royal.^[12] Following WrestleMania XIV, Taylor and Christopher continued to team together on the WWF's syndicated Saturday wrestling shows, with Taylor playing the straight man to Christopher's over-the-top, egotistical antics. Soon, Taylor adopted Christopher's flamboyant actions and in-ring mannerisms and became known as Scott "Too Hot" Taylor, with the duo dubbed "Too Much".^[8]

In May 1999, Taylor was renamed Scotty Too Hotty (later changed to Scotty 2 Hotty) and Christopher was renamed Grand Master Sexay.^[3] Collectively known as "Too Cool", Taylor and Christopher were given the characteristics of wiggers, delivering raps aimed at their opponents and parodying aspects of the hip hop culture. Shortly after debuting their new characters, the team was temporarily separated after Christopher tore his anterior cruciate ligament and was sidelined for three months.^[3] In late 1999, Too Cool aligned themselves with Rikishi Fatu (whom they quickly renamed Rikishi Phatu), forming a faction.^[8] Following their matches, Too Cool and Rikishi would perform a dance routine in the center of the ring.^[7]

In early 2000, the group began feuding with The Radicalz, culmintating with Too Cool teaming with Chyna to beat Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko at WrestleMania 2000. After Christopher re-injured his leg, Scotty briefly returned to the Light Heavyweight division, and on April 17, 2000, he defeated Radicalz member Dean Malenko to win the Light Heavyweight Championship. He held the title for only 10 days before dropping it back to Malenko on April 27, 2000.^[13] Scotty challenged Malenko for the title once more at Backlash, but was defeated.^[14] Christopher returned in mid-2000, and on May 29, 2000, Too Cool defeated Edge and Christian to win the Tag Team Championship with the assistance of rapper Joe C. They held the title until June 25, 2000, when Edge and Christian regained the title.^[15]

Too Cool and Rikishi separated in late 2000 after Rikishi was revealed to have run over Steve Austin. Rikishi subsequently easily defeated his former allies in a handicap match. In February 2001, the intervertebral disc between Scotty's C6 and C7 vertebrae bulged, and he was forced to undergo surgery.^[7][8] His absence was explained that he suffered a (kayfabe) broken ankle at the hands of Kurt Angle. While Scotty was recuperating, Christopher was released from the company for illegally conveying drugs across the Canada–United States border.^[16]

Various tag teams and departure[link]

Scotty returned to the ring in June 2001, taking part in the rivalry between Team WWF and The Alliance. During this time, he formed a tag team with Albert, who subsequently adopted the nickname "The Hip Hop Hippo", and they collectively became known as the "Zoo Crew".^[8] The team competed in the tag team division until April 2002, when Albert betrayed Scotty by attacking him.^[17]

Scotty spent 17 months recuperating, returning to the ring in April 2003 and to television in October 2003. Wrestling on the SmackDown! brand, Scotty formed a tag team with his former ally Rikishi.^[8] Together, they competed in the tag team division and ultimately defeated the Basham Brothers to win the WWE Tag Team Championship on February 5, 2004.^[18] Scotty and Rikishi successfully defended their titles in a four way tag team match at WrestleMania XX.^[19] Their reign ended on April 22, 2004 when they were defeated by Charlie Haas and Rico.^[18] On July 16, 2004, WWE released Rikishi, leaving Scotty on his own.

After Rikishi's release, Scotty wrestled mainly on Velocity and in dark matches until early 2007. In April 2007 he returned briefly to the Raw roster, competing in a handful of matches on WWE Heat.^[2] He was released from the company on May 18, 2007.^[20]

On December 10, 2007, Scotty returned to WWE for one night only, during Raw's 15-Year Special Anniversary episode. He took part in a "15-Year Flashback Battle Royal", and was among the final four wrestlers before being eliminated by Skinner.^[21]

Independent circuit (2007–2011)[link]

Following his release, Garland began competing on the independent circuit once more, alternating between the ring names Scotty Too Hotty and Scotty The Hotty.^[3] On March 1, 2008, Scotty won Eastern Pro Wrestling's Heavyweight Championship after defeating Bob Evans.^[3] Evans won the title back in a cage match on May 17, 2008 in Danielson, Connecticut. In May 2008, Scotty wrestled two matches for Full Impact Pro, teaming with Delirious to defeat The Young, Rich, and Ready For Action (Sal Rinauro and Chasyn Rance), and defeating Davey Richards in a singles match.^[3]

In June 2008, Scotty appeared at the CLASH Wrestling's NPCI tournament, in which the promotion's first World Tag Champions would be crowned, and teamed with CLASH Champion Cameron Skyy. The team lost in the first round to Tommy Tydie and J. Miller. Scotty returned to CLASH Wrestling in January of 2009 to face "Swagg Starr" Dave Manzo in the main event which ended up being a no contest due to some run-ins. Ultimately the match turned into a 6-Man Tag Team Match.^[22] On October 3, 2008, Scotty teamed with Owen Graichen in a loss to Fred Curry and Chris Venom in which the loser of the fall was (in storyline) forced to leave Eastern Pro Wrestling for 60 days. Due to being the wrestler pinned, Scotty had to leave the promotion.

On October 17, 2009, Scotty won the Coastal Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Championship after defeating then-champion Dok Rivers.^[23]

Personal life[link]

In 1998, Garland married Theresa "Terri" Marie, a nurse whom he met while working in a Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet in Windham, Maine.^[11] He and his wife currently live in Orlando, Florida, and have three children: a daughter named Taylor and two sons.^[24] Garland is a Walt Disney World aficionado, and owns a season pass to the park.^[24][25]

Garland appeared in-character, alongside Kid Kash in the December 2009 video for the Irish band, Fight Like Apes' single "Do You Karate".^[26] In 2010, he completed filming a movie called Ultimate Death Match 3, which also featured other wrestlers.^[2]

James Mark "Jim" Cornette (born September 17, 1961) is an American professional wrestling manager, commentator, promoter, and booker who is currently working for the Ring of Honor promotion.^[2]

As a manager, he has worked for Jim Crockett Promotions, World Championship Wrestling and World Wrestling Federation and from 1991 to 1995, was the owner of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. He has also worked as an on-screen character in an authoritative role; as "Commissioner" of Ring of Honor (in a previous stint with the company) and "Management Director" (and off-screen road agent) for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

Cornette currently acts as Executive Producer of Ring of Honor Wrestling, as well as serving as the on-air authority figure.^[3]

Career[link]

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Cornette always loved wrestling, reportedly installing a ten-foot antenna on top of his house as a youth so he could watch as much regional wrestling as possible. He began working at wrestling events at the age of 14, serving as a photographer, ring announcer, magazine correspondent, and public relations correspondent. In 1982, promoter Jerry Jarrett made the 21-year old Cornette the manager of Sherri Martel and gave Cornette the gimmick of a rich kid turned inept manager whose clients kept firing him after one match. The most notable wrestlers in this angle were Dutch Mantell and Crusher Broomfield (who would later gain fame as The One Man Gang and Akeem, The African Dream).

In 1983 he managed a trio of wrestlers in Nashville consisting of Carl Fergie, Norman Fredrich Charles III, and the Angel, a trio that he called the "Cornette Dynasty". At the end of 1983 he would take on his best-known role becoming the frontman for the Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton, and later Stan Lane). With Cornette as manager, the team were 2-time National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) World Tag Team Champions and 2-time NWA United States Tag Team champions. As a manager, Cornette was known for both his loud mouth and for his ever-present tennis racket,^[4] which Cornette often used to ensure victory for his wrestlers, with the implication that the racket case was loaded. Cornette was at his best as a heel manager; fans loved to see the constantly-yelling Cornette and his equally annoying charges beaten and humiliated. He and the Midnights were so hated, in fact, that they had to be escorted by police to and from the ring at the house shows and have a police escort to the city limits for fear of being attacked by overzealous fans. Additionally, Cornette suffered serious injuries to his knee during a scaffold match between the Midnight Express and the Road Warriors at Starrcade '86; when dropping to the mat from the edge of the 20 ft. high scaffold, Cornette didn't allow his legs to buckle quickly enough because he hoped to have a waiting Big Bubba Rogers there to cushion his fall. Rogers was supposed to catch Cornette in mid-air, preventing any damage. But because Rogers was wearing sunglasses he misjudged his position in the ring. Cornette actually landed three feet away from the man who was supposed to catch him and ended up blowing out one of his knees when it folded inwards. Cornette, who is legitimately afraid of heights, later said that he knew he might get seriously hurt when he was told he'd have to fall off a scaffold, but that performing in front of such a large audience was more important than his own health. Cornette would later recall the incident in a shoot interview.

National Wrestling Alliance/World Championship Wrestling (1986–1990)[link]

The Midnight Express with Cornette had a short stay in World Class Championship Wrestling in Texas where they feuded mainly with The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers). When opportunities in WCCW looked to go nowhere the Midnight Express started to look elsewhere for employment and what they found would give the team national and international exposure.

In 1986, Cornette became the color commentator for Jim Crockett Promotions' nationally-syndicated NWA television show, and later took over the same role on the Saturday night TBS broadcasts alongside play-by-play announcer Jim Ross.

In 1989, Cornette became a member of WCW's creative team, also known as a booker. As a booker for WCW, Cornette helped write storylines and shape the format of its television shows. Due to friction and animosity between himself and WCW head Jim Herd, Cornette quit the company after Halloween Havoc 1990.

Smoky Mountain Wrestling (1991–1995)[link]

A firm believer in "old-school" territorial wrestling, Cornette began the Smoky Mountain Wrestling (SMW) promotion in 1991.^[4] SMW promoted shows in Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Georgia, and the Carolinas. By this point, however, the nature of wrestling in the United States had already changed irrevocably, leading Cornette to seek a working relationship with the WWF in 1993. This did not change the new national perception that regional promotions were "minor league". The move also did not help the federation's finances, and Cornette closed SMW's doors in November 1995. Cornette later said that he chose the wrong time to start a wrestling federation because the business as a whole was in a recession.

World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment (1993–2005)[link]

Cornette went to the WWF in 1993 while still serving as promoter of SMW. As he had done in other promotions, Cornette held several positions in the WWF, including manager, color commentator and member of the booking committee. Cornette's most notable managerial role in the WWF was as the "American spokesperson" of WWF Champion Yokozuna.^[4]

Cornette joined the WWF full-time in 1996 after the demise of SMW, and had a major role in scouting and developing new talent. On screen, he led a top heel stable known as "Camp Cornette," which consisted of Vader, Owen Hart, and The British Bulldog.^[4] In 1997, Cornette became a member of the WWF announce team where he served as a color commentator. It was during this time that he also began performing a series of controversial "worked shoots" where he would praise what he felt was right and condemn what he felt was wrong in professional wrestling. Although the segments were produced by the WWF, Cornette did not hesitate to give praise to WCW wrestlers that he felt deserved it. Cornette also became active behind the scenes working on the booking committee for several years before being removed after frequently butting heads with head writer Vince Russo.

In 1998, Cornette led an NWA invasion,^[4] based on the old Crockett Promotions territory, with a stable including Jeff Jarrett, Barry Windham and The Rock 'n' Roll Express. Later that year, Cornette managed The New Midnight Express^[4] before disappearing from WWF programming. Cornette did some color commentating, then returned to WWF television for one night at the WrestleMania X-Seven pay-per-view in Houston, Texas, where he took part in the "gimmick battle royal".^[4]

Cornette later became lead booker and part owner of OVW, WWE's lead developmental territory at the time, run by "Nightmare" Danny Davis. As a talent developer, Cornette had previously been instrumental in developing current and former WWE Superstars such as Kane, D'Lo Brown, Sunny and Al Snow during his time running SMW.

In May, 2005, Cornette was suspended for several weeks after slapping OVW developmental wrestler Anthony Carelli backstage after Carelli had "no-sold" fellow wrestler The Boogeyman by laughing at him during a live OVW event. Shortly after Cornette returned from his suspension, a separate incident occurred and the WWE released him from his contract in July, 2005. In the spring of 2007, Carelli, who had since been called up to the WWE as Santino Marella, appeared on a Canadian radio program where he publicly challenged Cornette to a match despite Cornette working for rival promotion TNA at the time.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2006–2009)[link]

In 2006, Cornette joined TNA Wrestling as the new face of TNA Management. He holds the title of "Management Director" according to the press releases following his premiere at the Slammiversary PPV event on June 18, 2006 in Orlando, Florida. After a brief speech, he departed, but returned at the end of the show in light of the "Orlando Screwjob," taking the NWA World Heavyweight Championship belt after Jeff Jarrett, Larry Zbyszko and Earl Hebner successfully executed a screwjob on Christian Cage and Sting.

Cornette is seen by some as "bringing the NWA back to TNA"; although, this has never been officially stated. During Cornette's first TNA Impact! appearance, he got into a verbal confrontation with Jeff Jarrett. Remarkable comments from Cornette included "This is the NWA!" and "This is the NWA Title!" He also referred to Jeff Jarrett's family, discussing his father and grandmother. His shouts of the NWA could have been a simple mistake on his part as a common mistake made by many people is still regarding TNA as "NWA: TNA".

As the figurehead "Management Director" of TNA, Cornette did not usually take up more than ten minutes of the show, which can be attributed to both his quick tongue and TNA's lack of desire to create another Mr. McMahon. Matt Morgan had also become Cornette's on-screen bodyguard to prevent harm to his physical being, until leaving that post to become a full time wrestler. Part of Cornette's gimmick was that when multiple situations build up at once, he often takes care of them all swiftly by getting all the TNA wrestlers to come out to the Impact! Zone for a "company meeting" to hear his decisions, or exasperatedly deals swiftly with people who barge into his office. The clear impact of this feature was made evident right from the start, as the first "company meeting" (which aired on the June 29, 2006 edition of TNA Impact!), where every wrestler was asked to come out and stand at either ramp, saw Cornette clear up several issues:

• Forcing The Latin American Xchange to start wrestling again under the threat of termination.
• Booking Raven and Zbyszko in a hair vs. hair match against each other for Victory Road 2006.
• Disbanding Team Canada as a result of their overly cheating ways (he would later offer them a match which, if they won, would allow them to stay as a unit, with the winner to get a future shot at the championship of their choice. They would lose the match).
• Firing Earl Hebner for his role in the "Orlando Screwjob" at Slammiversary 2006. (Hebner had since been rehired, due to a lie detector test on Jeff Jarrett)
• Booking America's Most Wanted and Gail Kim in a match against Sirelda, A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels in an intergender six-person tag team matchup with Styles and Daniels' NWA World Tag Team Championship on the line.
• Booking a fatal four-way between Christian Cage, Sting, Scott Steiner, and Samoa Joe for Victory Road 2006.
• Finally declaring Jeff Jarrett the official NWA World Heavyweight Champion given that Jarrett defend his title against the winner of the fatal four-way at Victory Road.

With the return of Vince Russo to TNA, Cornette's run with the company would come into question. Cornette has been one of Russo's harshest critics and has blamed him for the "disintegration of the business". He's also stated that he wished to inflict bodily harm on Russo due to his involvement in a WCW angle with Ed Ferrara in which they mocked WWE commentator and good friend Jim Ross' Bell's Palsy condition. Since then, however, he managed to come to working terms with Russo and also become more involved in TNA.

The Daily Star conducted an interview with Cornette, who had some harsh words for the WWE Chairman. "Have you seen the stock market? Vince is not a billionaire any more! He may not even be a millionaire by the time this thing's over! I will sacrifice every penny I've got and cut my neighbour's lawn to see Vince McMahon a broken man laying in the gutter!"^[5] Cornette worked in WWE for years and ran the old Ohio Valley developmental territory.

Jim Cornette was released from his TNA contract on September 15, 2009.^[6]

Jim Cornette appeared on the "Who's Slamming Who" podcast to give his side of the story regarding his departure from TNA. He said he was released because he was not 100 percent behind the creative team. He said there were no severe reasons or incidents that led to his leaving the company, and noted that the news of his firing was online within two hours of TNA head of talent relations Terry Taylor informing him of the company's decision. This was also evident of fans uploading video opinions of the happening on YouTube sharing opinions and gossip of the departure of Cornette and former TNA superstar B.G James.

Cornette said the conversation with Dixie Carter, who said he would be welcomed back to the company if he could get 100 percent behind creative. He had stated that he was never informed that Ed Ferrara would be coming in, and claims he would have resigned from his position if he had known that he would be coming into the picture with the creative team. Cornette stated that he is open to returning to TNA in the future, but simply can't support the creative team of Russo and Ferrara.

Returning to Ring of Honor and Ohio Valley Wrestling (2009–present)[link]

In 2009, Cornette signed a contract with Ring of Honor to be their Executive Producer for the Ring of Honor Wrestling show on HDNet.^[7]

Cornette could be seen in promos leading up to his in-ring debut on HDNet and Cornette stated that he was the new Executive Producer for the television show and that he would bring change and positivity to the product. Cornette made his ROH debut on the December 7th edition of Ring of Honor Wrestling and immediately made waves by putting ROH champion Austin Aries into a 4-way title match later that night and created the Pick 6 contender series.

On September 8, 2010, Ohio Valley Wrestling announced that Cornette would resume his duties as the head booker of the promotion.^[8] Cornette left OVW in November 2011, when the promotion announced a working agreement with TNA.^[9] On the January 21 edition of Ring of Honor television, Cornette announced that chairshots to the head were banned and anyone that did so would be fined $5000. On the February 4 telecast, Cornette made another ban in which the piledriver--in any form--is banned.

Personal life[link]

Cornette and his longtime girlfriend Stacy Goff, who portrayed independent female wrestler Synn, were married in October 2007.^[10]

In September 2009, during a podcast interview on "Who's Slamming Who?" he voiced his support for President Barack Obama's Health Care Reform plans. He also condemned what he considered "fearmongering" from the Republican party, as well as calling former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin "a useless twat".
