Cuba after Castro
Fidel Castro came to power in Cuba on December 31, 1959. Expropriation, nationalization of the industry and the departure of more than two and a half million Cubans followed. But also the advancement of health care and education, and a continuing struggle to turn Cuba into an ideal communist state. In Miami the great countdown has begun. The Cubans who have fled the socialist experiment over the past 45 years have faith again. The momentum is there, or at least close, so the exiles in Miami hope. They'll soon be able to take possession of Cuba again and start reconstruction, from communist utopia to Caribbean investment paradise. In Miami, where 1.2 million Cuban exiles live, Cuban organizations, companies and people are ready for the post-Castro era. This documentary takes stock of the scenarios people in Miami envision for Cuba after Castro and of thepossible consequences for the island and its inhabitants. Santeria - Cuba
Nov 2003 More and more Cubans are turning to the popular religion of Santeria for spiritual guidance. In the tiny Cuban town of Regla, a woman is throwing a party for her saint. She watches in delight as her 'saint' writhes to the drums, spitting rum at the guests to cleanse their souls. Santeria was bought to Cuba by African slaves and quickly developed into a home-grown religion. Now 80% of the population are thought to believe in it. Cuba Travel Doc - Part 01
The Republic of Cuba consists of the island of Cuba (the largest and second-most populous island of the Greater Antilles), Isla de la Juventud and several adjacent small islands. Cuba is located in the northern Caribbean at the confluence of the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Cuba is south of the eastern United States and The Bahamas, west of the Turks and Caicos Islands and Haiti and east of Mexico. The Cayman Islands and Jamaica are to the south. The national flower is Hedychium coronarium J. Koenig, most often known as "flor de mariposa" (Butterfly Flower) and the national bird is "Tocororo" or Cuban Trogon from the family of Trogonidae.[8] Cuba is the most populous insular nation in the Caribbean. Its people, culture and customs draw from several sources including the aboriginal Taíno and Ciboney peoples, the period of Spanish colonialism, the introduction of African slaves, and its proximity to the United States. The name "Cuba" comes from the Taíno language the exact meaning of which is unclear, but may be translated either "where fertile land is abundant" (cubao) or "great place" (coabana). The island has a tropical climate that is moderated by the surrounding waters; however, the warm temperatures of the Caribbean Sea and the fact that the island of Cuba sits across the access to the Gulf of Mexico combine to make Cuba prone to frequent hurricanes. Cuba's main island, at 766 miles (1233 km) long, is the world's 17th largest. Power Sports ...

Cuba, as time goes. Documental.
CUBA DOCUMENTAL: "Cuba, As Time Goes By". Director: Eduardo Lamora. Producer: Paco Fernández. 23-09-2011 Synopsis: Havana 1977: One day I decided to go into exile. This film relates the return to my home town thirty years later. My clandestine camera goes at the bottom of the Cuban society, just as Fidel Castro has officially given the power to his brother Raul. He has held the reins during forty-eight years of absolute power. The children of the Cuban revolution are now facing a bitter day-to-day life while a new upper class lead by the old generation in power is desperately hanging at it.

Romantic cuban boleros of the 1930s and 1940s, sung by Eydie Gorme and El Trio Los Panchos. Images from a special report by LIFE in the February 6th, 1950 issue concerning the elegant life in Havana, titled " High Society in Cuba". Some quotes from that article: " The first families of Havana lead a life of elegance that the Yankee rum-and-rumba tourists never see. In the winter before the bulk of American tourists arrive, Cuba's high society breaks out with some of the most elegant and lavish parties given in the Western Hemisphere. Wealthy Havanese feel that $ 5000.- is not too much to spend on a children's party and upwards of $ 10000.- seems justified for a successful debut. They dress their daughters in the latest Paris fashions, and expect women to appear in mink and sables in the hottest weather. Although the local society reporter makes a good living describing their parties in glowing terms, most of the top affairs need no embellishment. La Condesa de Camargo last year fortified her position as Cuba"s first lady of society by decorating a party for her niece with 5000 dozen gladioli banked along the fence around her home, but Havana is still talking about the ball she gave 20 years ago for which 500 pheasants were flown in from the US. Cuba's season of pomp and extravagance is shortlived. By the time the rum-and-rumba "touristas" begin to flood the island, chic Cubans have gone into semiretirement, and Havana's best parties are over." 00:05-04:39 " Eight of ...
