The Evolution of Puppetry
ELMO is not like any other puppet you have seen before, he have lived long enough to see a clear evolution of mankind and its positive and negative sides. He is going to take you to different moments of history to point out when humans stopped being mere thinking animals to become power greed puppet masters. The evolution of events will lead you to the actual media bombarding situation and why there is a sine qua non inevitability to keep human minds entertained. Japanese Bunraku puppets
Bunraku is Japan's professional puppet theater. Developed primarily in the 17th and 18th centuries, it is one of the four forms of Japanese classical theater, the others being kabuki, noh, and kyogen. The term bunraku comes from Bunraku-za, the name of the only commercial bunraku theater to survive into the modern era. Bunraku is also called ningyo joruri, a name that points to its origins and essence. Ningyo means "doll" or "puppet," and joruri is the name of a style of dramatic narrative chanting accompanied by the three-stringed shamisen. This exhibition from a show in Kyoto...

Sony Realtime Projection Mapping 2
Marshmallow Laser Feast's ambitious realtime projection mapping campaign for Sony Playstation. Credits below..
We wanted to push video mapping on from anything that has been done so far. Using live puppetry, 3D tracking, pyrotechnics (and a whole bunch of our friends' spare time) we transformed a room into three different vignettes. Can you guess the films?!
It was all lots of fun! A very big thank you to all our friends and Studio-Output for their support and putting their trust into our maverick efforts.

Shot on the Canon 5D through a 50 gallon aquarium in my backyard…
Pily lives a pastoral life at the bottom of Oregon's Willamette River. He tends to his underwater crops in solitude and proves to be resourceful. His home is built from flotsam and sunken debris.
Seemingly content in the world he has built for himself, Pily is actually addled by a premonition, a pre-knowledge that an invasive element is going to displace him. To prepare for the worst Pily devises an escape plan…
Be sure to check out "Catching up with Pily" http://vimeo.com/23703765 to see what the little nondescript crustacean has been up to since "Denmark"

Chinese shadow puppetry
UNESCO: Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity - 2011 URL: www.unesco.org Description: Chinese shadow puppetry is a form of theatre whereby colourful silhouette figures perform traditional plays against a back-lit cloth screen, accompanied by music and singing. Puppeteers make the figures from leather or paper and manipulate them by means of rods to create the illusion of moving images. The puppeteers' skills of simultaneously manipulating several puppets, improvisational singing, and playing various musical instruments are handed down in families and troupes, passing from master to pupil. Puppetry spreads knowledge, promotes cultural values and entertains the community, especially the youth.
