Cao Song

Cao Song (died 193),courtesy name Jugao, was an official who lived in the Eastern Han dynasty. He was the foster son of the eunuch Cao Teng and the father of the warlord Cao Cao, who rose to prominence in the final years of Eastern Han and laid the foundation of the state of Cao Wei in the Three Kingdoms period. Cao Song was posthumously honoured as "Emperor Tai" (lit. "Grand Emperor") by his grandson Cao Pi in 220 when the latter ended Eastern Han and founded the Wei regime.

Career

Cao Song was known to be honest, sincere and of good moral conduct. He served as the "Director of Retainers" (司隸校尉) in the Han imperial court. During the reign of Emperor Ling, he served consecutively as the Minister of Finance (大司農) and Minister Herald (大鴻臚) before replacing Cui Lie (崔烈) as the Grand Commandant (太尉). However, it was alleged that Cao Song obtained the post of Grand Commandant by bribing eunuchs, who were deeply trusted by the emperor. Another account stated that Cao Song purchased those official posts because Emperor Ling introduced a practice of selling political offices for money.

Cao Cao

Cao Cao (Chinese: 曹操; 155 – 15 March 220), courtesy name Mengde, was a warlord and the penultimate Chancellor of the Eastern Han dynasty who rose to great power in the final years of the dynasty. As one of the central figures of the Three Kingdoms period, he laid the foundations for what was to become the state of Cao Wei and was posthumously honoured as "Emperor Wu of Wei". Although he is often portrayed as a cruel and merciless tyrant in subsequent literature, Cao Cao has also been praised as a brilliant ruler and military genius who treated his subordinates like his family. During the fall of the Eastern Han dynasty, Cao Cao was able to secure the most populated and prosperous cities of the central plains and northern China. Cao had much success as Han chancellor, but his handling of the Han emperor Liu Xie was heavily criticized and resulted in a continued and then escalated civil war. Opposition directly gathered around warlords Liu Bei and Sun Quan, whom Cao was unable to quell. Cao was also skilled in poetry and martial arts and wrote many war journals.

JJ Lin

JJ Lin (traditional Chinese: 林俊傑; simplified Chinese: 林俊杰; pinyin: Lin Jun Jie) is a Singaporean singer, songwriter, record producer and actor based in Taiwan. JJ Lin was managed by Ocean Butterflies from 2003 to 2009. He is managed by Warner Music Taiwan. Lin won Best New Artist for his work on his debut album Music Voyager at the 15th Golden Melody Awards in 2004.He won Best Male Mandopop Performer for his work on his 10th album Stories Untold at the 25th Golden Melody Awards in 2014.

Biography

Lin was born in Singapore and studied at Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) and Saint Andrew's Junior College before completing his National Service with the Singapore Armed Forces.

Career

In addition to English and Mandarin, Lin sings in Hokkien and Cantonese using romanized pronunciation system, and has released his songs in Cantonese. In Taiwan, he was awarded the "Best New Artist" award in the Taiwan Golden Melody Awards.

He is well known for his songwriting skills. He has written songs for various musical artists while he was still a trainee under Ocean Butterflies. His notable compositions include "Remember" (記得 Jì Dé) for Taiwanese singer A-Mei, A-Do's "Let Go" (放手 Fàng Shǒu), Harlem Yu's "What's Wrong With You?" (幹嘛你看不爽我 Gàn Má Nǐ Kàn Bù Shuǎng Wǒ), Comic Boyz's "Heart of Superman" (超人心 Chāo Rén Xīn).

Sing My Song

Sing My Song (Chinese: 中国好歌曲; pinyin: Zhōngguó Hǎo Gēqǔ; literally: "The Song of China") is a Chinese reality talent show that premiered on 3 January 2014 on CCTV-3 (Arts and Entertainment) channel sponsored by Hangzhou Wahaha Group and Wahaha Joint Venture Company. The series is produced by the same team that produced the The Voice of China and retains some of that show's format; however, a major difference is that contestants in Sing My Song must perform their original composition rather than covering songs by other artists.

Format

The series consists of three phases: the audition called "the recordings", a battle phase called "the singles", and a final called "the song". The four producers choose teams of contestants through a blind audition process. Each producer has the length of the auditioner's performance to decide if he or she wants that singer-songwriter's self-written, composed, and song sung on his or her album. If two or more producers want the same contestant (which happens frequently), the singer-songwriter has the final choice of producer.
