Android Guy Weekly: How OEMs (Try to) Maximize Battery Life
We've talked about it in the past and I'm sure we'll talk about it long into the future: battery life. Today we're going to tackle the subject from another direction. Rather than talk about what you and I can do to try and extend how long our batteries last, let's talk about what manufacturers and OEMs are doing to try and maximize battery life in phones and tablets they make. This video is brought to you by: www.pcmtechhelp.com This video is a complete and comprehensive analysis of Windows 7 OEM licensing vs. Windows 7 Retail licensing as well as the pros and cons of each. Windows licensing has changes dramatically over the years so it is important to stay informed about the transition between Windows generations. This particular video does make some important discussion of the differences between Windows XP licensing and Windows 7 licensing. Windows 7 has made a dramatic shift recently in regards to system builders and OEMs. Microsoft has decided to throw the hobbyists under the bus for OEM licensing and required registration of an OEM through their website to verify installation packages on OEM licenses. OEM Partner Video Blog Episode 1
Video blog featuring information on the Express Deployment Tool and recent OEM Partner Center site updates. Download the Express Deployment Tool here: on-msn.com ***Transcript*** Hi, I'm Jeremy with the OEM Partner Center. Welcome to the OEM Partner Video blog. Today I'd like to talk about a great resource on the OEM Partner Center, the Express Deployment Tool. This tool has a wizard-based interface that simplifies the preinstallation process and enables you as a system builder to create a customized and consistent end user experience. Let's have a look: Traditional OPKs contain a great deal of technical information to address numerous scenarios and are designed to meet the needs of a wide range of OEMs. In contrast, the Express Deployment Tool works with OPK tools to provide streamlined deployments of typical PC configurations. It's designed to help system builders realize all the benefits of the traditional OPK in a fraction of the time. Here at Microsoft.com/oem/expressdeploymenttool we have information and a download link as well as additional resources such as this step-by-step guide which walks you through the process of selecting products to be added to the installation. This interface greatly simplifies the process of deploying new PCs. Once a reference PC has been created, the deployment of any image onto a new PC takes less than ten minutes. So what do you think? Leave us a comment to this video blog, then visit: Microsoft.com/oem/expressdeploymenttool. Download ...

Add OEM Option ROM to the Embedded BIOS Using congatec System Utility Software (CGUTIL)
OEM BIOS modules can be used to add OEM defined data or code blocks to the system BIOS. By setting the load time, execution time, and load address values within the header, OEMs can define when the respective module should be loaded into RAM and executed during BIOS POST. OEM BIOS code modules may be used to perform custom specific hardware initialization, pre-boot software checks, user authentication, or even skip parts of the BIOS boot process and create own boot loaders.

Rob Enderle: Sony "pissed" PC OEMs with battery recall
At HP's Enterprise Printing and Imaging conference held Tue, October 3rd at the St Regis in San Francisco, Rob and I also discussed the Sony batteries recall situation and how the Japanese company has "pissed" the PC OEM manufacturers by not simply recall all the contaminated batteries. Sony has indeed mismanaged the situation and should have recalled all the batteries and not let the PC OEMs check, one after the other, if this could be a hazardous situation for the user. Especially as Rob mentioned, the fire explosion does not appear immediately but after the batteries have "aged" a bit. After the conversation, Rob also mentioned that Sony has refused to immediately upgrade its manufacturing facilities, unlike its competitors, when it knew of the possible contamination risks as it requested important investments. I guess it's "pay back time" now. This video was produced with the support of Gervais Restaurant, Silicon Valley's only authentic French restaurant (www.gervaisrestaurant.com). AWFILMS | Truhart USA Suspension Components
Our parent company, Urban Import Inc has been in the performance parts distribution industry since 2001, primarily focusing on suspension components. We have selected factories for our new TruHart line through personal visits, first hand product testing, extensive factory background research and quality control follow up visits. Our suspension arms and bushings are manufactured in a specialized facility who has been in the OEM replacement industry since 1989 and focusing on performance products since 2001. Most other manufacturers use generic bushings manufactured by an outside factory then cut to their specs. All parts of the production process are done in our factory including manufacturing the bushings from raw material and formulating them for their specific purpose. Because we are able to monitor control processes through the whole production phase and use the highest grade raw materials we are able to offer an industry leading 2 year warranty on our products.

Android Guy Weekly: ICS, Jelly Bean, and the Need For OEM UIs
Android often takes quite a bit of criticism for its "fragmentation". It's got lots of versions currently on the market, it comes in different shapes and sizes, OEMs can customize it to their liking... the sky is the limit with Android. But have you ever looked beyond the chatter and stopped to ask: Why does Google allow Android to be so open? Why the need for ICS, Jelly Bean, and OEM UIs? That's what we'll talk about in today's episode of The Android Guy Weekly! Article: pocketnow.com Facebook: www.facebook.com Twitter: twitter.com
