When Jenny Kirk retired from competitive figure skating in August, 2005 she took away much more than medals, memories and stamps on her passport. As a skater, Jenny was fortunate to train under some of the most acclaimed coaches in the sport, who helped her to become a world junior champion, a five-time national medalist and a three-time world team member. Jenny's career as an elite athlete taught her about herself, sports and most important, life in general. Over the years, the lessons she learned during her skating career have served as a guide through a myriad of events: mourning the loss of her mother, numerous cross-country moves, difficult break-ups, venturing into life as a college student and recovering from an eating disorder and alcoholism. The wisdom she gleaned during her skating career has provided her with a source of strength and perspective through the ups and downs of every experience. This is why Jenny feels strongly that through The Skating Lesson podcast/interview series other athletes and influential figures from the skating world will be able to use their wisdom and honestly to help others. A recent graduate of Boise State University, Jenny has embarked on a new career as a broadcast journalist and is very excited to share others' stories with you through The Skating Lesson.
