Traditional Tswana singing and dancing
We were so fortunate to be able to attend this traditional singing and dancing that a local primary school in Botswana showcased. There are two teachers at the school who studied traditional dance, one of whom is in the video. They enter competitions regularly and were about to compete the weekend following this performance.

Thelledi by Malaika (Jabulani Ndaba, Matshediso Mholo, Bongani Nchang) Tswana/Sotho wedding song
The original South African Afro-pop trio Malaika is an Afro-pop trio consisting of Jabulani Ndaba, Matshediso Mholo, and Bongani Nchang. Unfortunately, Jabulani Ndaba passed away in Septmber 2008 at the age of 32, after a long illness. Malaika's music is a perfect blend of post-kwaito, post-mbaqanga and neo-soul. Their NuAfro-pop sound is, unashamedly melodic, harmonious, always attempting to be soulful, and a good dollop of singing and musicianship, and it defines the early sound of 21st century South Africa.

Ngoma Vuma Afrika Setswana Dance @ SOAS Concert Series
Ngoma Vuma Afrika is a percussion group based at the Music Department of the North-West University in South Africa. Ngoma is both a Swahili (East & Central Africa) and a Xhosa and Zulu (South Africa) word that means drum, dance, music or rhythm. Vuma means agreement, so the groups name may be translated as African drums of agreement, reflecting the importance of the communal spirit in African musical performance. The group performs a mixed repertoire from East, Central and Southern Africa, as well as some high energy dances.
