Carolco Pictures, Inc. was an American independent film production company that, within a decade, went from producing such blockbuster successes as Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Total Recall, and the first three films of the Rambo series to being bankrupted by box office bombs such as Cutthroat Island and Showgirls. The company's trademarks were purchased by another interest who renamed its established company under the Carolco name.
The company was founded through the partnership of two film investors, Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna. The two were hailed by Newsweek as some of the most successful independent producers. By the age of 25, Vajna went from wig-maker to the owner of two Hong Kong theaters. Then, Vajna ventured into the production and distribution of feature films. One of Vajna's early productions was a 1973 martial-arts film entitled The Deadly China Doll which made $3.7 million worldwide from a $100,000 budget. Vajna was already a film sales agent in the Middle East by the time he turned 18.
The first in a series! Learn about Carolco, an ambitious and innovative film and television production company known for their big budgeted movies going well past the millions, which eventually led to their downfall. We are currently in the process of making more of these, so let me know in the comments of what you think about this.
This is the logo history of the recently-revived Carolco Pictures. I couldn't find the variant of the 1988 logo with the 1990 Seven Arts Pictures theme. I also couldn't find the 1995 logo, so I posted a still image of the logo. Finally, I couldn't find the variant of the 2003 C2 Pictures that was seen at the end of season one episodes of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Few survived the debacle that was 1995's Cutthroat Island, least of all viewers expecting $95 million dollar entertainment and some semblance of a plot. The end result was that Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna's Carolco went bust and pirates were considered scurvy-ridden shite-bags for a good eight years until Johnny Depp did a passable Keith Richards impression. Don't mention Showgirls either. Actually, a movie with showgirls and pirates might work.
The remake of Total Recall gave me the idea. This is the first time I use 3D software and there are some things that could be done better, but generally I thing that it looks nice. And sounds nice, I touched the audio and tried to make it more stereo, it's best to listen with headphones.

Garlic makes my feet stink, yeah!
I got a line from a good friend
You call him weird, I call him soul
He told me what has been going on
Things are getting tough and we gotta go.
The time has come to get serious 'bout
The face of all that we see
I told him this.. I said "Hey soul!
Start listening to me!" I told him,
"Dog... you... smell like fish..."
Garlic makes my feet stink.
He got my point, we had a good laugh
We laughed until my belly hurt
I'm not the savior, and I will never be
But that don't change my worth
He started moving, he started circling
I heard him whisper in my face
"One on one," he said, "That is the only way,
You and I will change this place." He told me,
"Dog... you... smell like fish."
Garlic makes my feet stink.
(a little bass... a little drums... a little percussion...)
Horns!! (a bunch o' times)
My favorite color may be brown,
My favorite color may be black,
My favorite color may have nothing to do with it
I think the problem's exorcised,
I think the problem's compromised,
He showed me all that's wrong with me...
Our parents made some big mistakes,
Our parents really screwed this place,
And now the cleaning's left to us.
We are the ones who have to scrape,
We are the ones who have to make...
A change for the better...!
I'm still reading tilt, mama...
