Fruits and Vegetables that I would Grow if I was in a Tropical Climate
John from www.growingyourgreens.com answers a viewers viedo question. In this episode you will learn what John would grow if he was gardening in a tropical climate. After watching this episode you will get some sources for seeds as well as further information about growing in tropical climates. The resource for seeds from Hawaii is: www.ctahr.hawaii.edu Please note: the University does offer some GMO seeds, which I do not advocate or support. I do support the other varieties that will grow in a tropical climate and the research they have done to make these available for people to grow a more successful garden.

Bangladeshis Losing Homes to Climate Change - Tropic Of Cancer - Episode 5 Preview - BBC Two
More about this episode: www.bbc.co.uk Following the Tropic of Cancer through Bangladesh, Simon Reeve meets villagers already losing their homes and land to climate change. Bangladeshis already have to contend with cyclones and arsenic-contaminated drinking water, but experts believe rising sea levels will inundate vast areas of Bangladesh, a catastrophe in the most densely-populated large country in the world. Simon's epic trip around the Tropic of Cancer is his toughest journey yet. The spectacular adventure takes him through 18 countries on the northern edge of Earths tropical zone. Starting in Mexico he travels east through the glorious Caribbean, to a stunning desert oasis in North Africa, across India and Asia, and on a dangerous, covert incursion into the remote hills of western Burma.

Meet Taiwan
Taiwan enjoys a sub tropical climate, which has noticeable yet not severe changes in season that result in cool yet mild winters and hot summers reaching an average high of mid thirties centigrade. With lush sub-tropical ecosystems, alpine forests, deep winding gorges like the famous Taroko Gorge, tropical beaches and marine ecology Taiwan really is the Ilha Formosa. To preserve the beauty of Taiwan there are seven national parks and 13 national scenic areas such as Alishan in Chiayi county or Sun Moon lake in Nantou, which is also home to the Thao tribe. Banana more resistant to climate change: Scientists
The banana could soon replace many crops as a staple food source. Scientists say the fruit is more resistant to climate change than others. Bananas thrive in southern India's tropical climate - the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka produce more than 27 million tonnes of the fruit a year. Farmers in India are already recognising it as the most reliable source of income. Al Jazeera's Sohail Rahman reports from Hoseharrli in Karnataka, India.

Homemade Coconut Milk Recipe from Dried Coconut
www.freecoconutrecipes.com We are often asked at Tropical Traditions why we do not sell any packaged coconut milks. The answer is that we have never found a packaged coconut milk that meets our high standards. It is a processed product, and freshly made coconut milk will separate and spoil quite easily. The water is heavier than the natural coconut oil, so the water sinks to the bottom and the oil tends to float on top after leaving it sit for a while. Commercially packaged coconut milks must add stabilizers to keep the product from separating, and often these stabilizers are in such a small quantities that they are not listed as ingredients on the labels. It could be soy lecithin, or something like guar gum which can cause problems for people who are gluten intolerant. The product then needs to be packaged in air-tight containers to preserve it, and this is often done in metal cans that have aluminum inside, and potentially Bisphenol A (BPA). Since canned coconut milks are over 90% water, you have to be concerned about the source of water that was used in packaging as well. The best coconut milk is one you make fresh yourself! Since most people reading this probably do not live in tropical places where you have access to fresh coconuts, the best way to make fresh coconut milk is from a high quality organic dried coconut that is not treated with sulfites and is not sweetened. If you live in a non-tropical climate and see fresh coconuts in your local grocery store, its a ...

11. Climate Change -- Hurricanes, atolls and coral
Three more myths, misunderstood by both proponents and critics of climate science: Global Warming means more hurricanes, drowned islands and dead coral reefs. It's not that simple. Below are the sources for the hurricanes segment. The total list was too long, so I'll post it separately. 1) NBC news report: "Hurricanes and Global Warming Connection" on YouTube 2) "Changes in Tropical Cyclone Number, Duration, and Intensity in a Warming Environment" Webster et al, Science 2005 3) Half-degree increase in temp leads to approx 40% increase in hurricanes: "Large contribution of sea surface warming to recent increase in Atlantic hurricane activity" -- Saunders and Lea, Nature 2008 4) 60- to 80- year hurricane cycle responsible for hurricane activity: "The Recent Increase in Atlantic Hurricane Activity: Causes and Implications." Rev. In Jin Moon's Lovin' LLM Sermon, August 7, 2011
Sermon Notes, August 7, 2011
In Jin Moon
1. In Jin Nim greeted everyone. (The applause was especially enthusiastic – with all the middle school camp kids in the audience). She just got back from Las Vegas at two o'clock this morning. True Parents (True Parents) send us their greetings!
True Parents at Hoon Dok Hae in Las Vegas, August 6, 2011
2. In Jin Nim reported to True Parents about the WFWP 19th annual conference -- they were delighted to hear about it. Congratulations to the WFWP. In Jin Nim recognized Angelika Selle (President) and the team that did such a phenomenal job. The conference highlighted the beauty of women from all around the world who came to discuss how to unlock the power and beauty of relationships. In Jin Nim had the honor of being the keynote speaker at one of the morning plenary sessions. To come together in the spirit of the feminine and in the celebration of the feminine and discuss amongst themselves how they can be the agent of change to usher in the new millennium. It was an incredibly powerful and profoundly moving experience for In Jin Nim. In Jin Nim could not attend the gala in the evening which she heard was a great success (she had to fly out to Las Vegas to report to True Parents) – with lovely dancers and a comedian who brought down the roof. True Parents and (especially) True Mother were delighted to hear that the WFWP had completed its 19th conference
3. Whenever In Jin Nim visits True Parents she always is so grateful – realizing what an incredible time we are living in. She likes to say that this is the time of the breaking news. Jesus Christ brought the good news – truly helping all of humanity to understand the meaning of what it is to truly love one another and encouraging women to live an inspired and true life. But now is the time of the breaking news because now we are not only talking about understanding and substantiating and applying true love and true life in our lives but really coming to substantiate the true lineage of God – grafting on to the heavenly lineage and becoming one family under God. So – it is an incredibly exciting time for all of us here working in the Ministry
4. As we think about each Sunday and what topics and issues will be discussed – they (Lovin' Life team) are always tickled pink when they realize that so much of the inspiration comes from the enthusiasm of the young people which they show to the Lovin' Life Ministry every Sunday – and enthusiasm that is shared all around the country in 100 different satellite locations across America. "We know that when we can see and experience the inspired youth, truly encouraged in the spirit of true love – wanting to build that ideal family, society, nation, and world, we know that it is not just a dream that we are dealing with, when we think or ponder or ruminate on the topic on this beautiful world of peace, but it is something tangible, something that we are working towards each and every day, something that we can build upon starting with you and me."
5. As In Jin Nim was taking the trip to Las Vegas, on the way back going through LA they had to wait for a plane to come and replace the plane they were supposed to be on. And so they had some delay time. People started gathering in small groups and talking with each other. And In Jin Nim noticed in one corner three young teenage girls. They were beautiful girls huddled together looking at fashion magazines. Glamour, Elle, Cosmopolitan, People, Us, (and others). They were pointing at different people and things exclaiming, "I want to be like her, I want to have that, she has legs 6 miles long, her body is perfect, 36-24-32." In Jin Nim listened to their conversation – "you know, these people they have it all, they're beautiful, they have their cars, mansions, iPods and iPad's, fabulous girlfriends and boyfriends, all the designer clothes (In Jin Nim named the brands and designers – "they knew their stuff" – designer bags and shoes). When I become rich and successful these are the things that I want!"
6. These ladies were between 15 and 17. They were infused with this incredible desire – wanting the latest designer clothing and bags (In Jin Nim gave several designer names). It is interesting how, it doesn't matter where we come from, what culture we are born into, what race we belong to – in the journey through life, on the road of life where we come to understand what we are all about and who we are and what we need to do and what kind of people we need to be – there is this word that we come face-to-face with from time to time – the word 'desire.'
7. Many times we say to ourselves that we desire things. We desire all these things that we want to acquire – we desire. In Jin Nim often thinks, yes we desire all these things, we desire X – (fill in the box). But many times in life there are other things at play, not just we as individuals, but there are also supernatural things at play, there are th

Air & Earth
There are certain places that sustain me. Places where the elements of nature are so evocatively displayed, that my desire to return and experience them again never loses its hold.
Island of Hawaii: Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea, The Saddle, Kilauea Volcano, Halemaumua Crater, Kilauea Iki
The Big Island is 20 degrees latitude north of the equator giving it a climate with a narrow range of temperatures along with continuous prevailing winds. Above 30 degrees latitude north and 30 degrees latitude south of the equator cold air from the Arctic and cold air from Antarctica mingles vigorously with hot air from the tropics. It is largely this interaction of cold air from the poles with hot air from the tropics along with the oceans circulating currents that drives most weather as we experience it today.
Peter Douglas Ward, a paleontologist and professor of Biology and Earth and Space Sciences at the University of Washington, Seattle wrote the groundbreaking book "Under a Green Sky" in 2007. In this seminal work he asserts that as carbon dioxide levels continue to escalate we may have a planet that is so warm that eventually the ice caps will melt causing the planet’s air circulation systems to slow to a crawl. This he claims will create a largely calm windless world where the blue sky we see today will become a pale dull green.

A walk round Gardens by the Bay with Grant Associates
Andrew Grant, director of UK landscape architects Grant Associates, walks around Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, reflecting on the ideas and inspirations behind the the design of the spectacular Supertrees, Cooled Conservatories and Themed Gardens.
Masterplanned by Grant Associates, Gardens by the Bay is a remarkable blend of nature, technology, environmental management and imagination.
Highlights of Bay South include 18 Supertrees (25-50 metre vertical gardens that light up at night) and two giant Cooled Conservatories, designed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects, housing Mediterranean and Tropical climate plants. The project also includes a rich variety of Horticultural Gardens, designed around the themes 'Plants and People' and 'Plants and Planet'.
Alongside lead designers Grant Associates, the British design team for Bay South included Wilkinson Eyre Architects (architects); Atelier Ten (environmental design consultants); Atelier One (structural engineers); Land Design Studio (museum and visitor centre designers); Thomas Matthews (communication designers). Squint Opera (animations) and Buro 4 (design management).
This team was supported by a number of Singapore Consultants including CPG (architecture, civils and structures, M&E;), Meinhardt Infrastructure (civils and structures), Langdon Seah (cost consultants), LPA (lighting design), PMLink (project management) and WET (irrigation).
The client, National Parks Board of Singapore, and the Gardens by the Bay project team were instrumental in delivering the world class collections of plants.
On 5th October 2012, The Cooled Conservatories at Gardens by the Bay was named World Building of the Year at the World Architecture Festival.

Growing Tropical Fruits - Dragonfruit Cacti From Seeds | Ep. 75
This video originally was going to be part of my final video that I was going to share with you on all of my tropical plants grown from seeds, but turns out this video is too long, so I've decided to make it a separate video. In this video I'll share with you 3 fun ways to eat the dragonfruit, tips on how to grow them, and what to do once they get really big. Despite the dragonfruit being a cactus plant, it grows best in a tropical climate. If you're looking for a fun easy project to do with kids, this is the one. Dragonfruit cactus grows very easily indoors much like another other home decor cacti or succulents.
