The meridian 20° west of Greenwich is a line of longitude that extends from the North Pole across the Arctic Ocean, Greenland, Iceland, the Atlantic Ocean, the Southern Ocean, and Antarctica to the South Pole. In some geographic schema, it is used as the line of longitude which best delineates the historical separation between the Old World of Eurasia and Africa and the New World of the Americas.
The 20th meridian west forms a great circle with the 160th meridian east.
In Antarctica, the meridian defines the border between the British Antarctic Territory and Queen Maud Land. Between the 5th parallel north and the 60th parallel south it forms the eastern boundary of the Latin American Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone.
Starting at the North Pole and heading south to the South Pole, the 20th meridian west passes through:
ITV Meridian, previously Meridian Broadcasting from its inception in 1993 until 2002, is the holder of the ITV franchise for the South and South East of England. The station launched on 1 January 1993, replacing previous broadcaster Television South, and is presently owned and operated by ITV plc, under the licensee of ITV Broadcasting Limited.
The company broadcasts to the region from the Hannington, Midhurst, Rowridge, Whitehawk Hill, Hastings, Heathfield, Tunbridge Wells, Bluebell Hill and Dover transmitters. The company also broadcasts their news service to viewers served by the Oxford transmitting station despite this area being in the neighboring ITV Central region.
Meridian operates from Whiteley, Hampshire, producing regional news and current affairs programmes in addition to occasional networked productions for the ITV network.
ITV Meridian was formed as Meridian Broadcasting in 1991. The company consisted of a consortium between Mills & Allen International (MAI), Selectv (15%) and Central Independent Television (20%), the latter advised the consortium. Central along with Selectv were instrumental in winning the franchise as a low bidder. Meridian intended to operate as a publisher broadcaster, meaning that the majority of programmes would be commissioned from independent producers and not made by the company.

Gemma Humphries is a former British weather forecaster.
After studying drama, Humphries worked for a small London radio station, then moved on to forecasting, having first become interested in weather when she took geography 'A' Level at school.
She trained as a broadcast meteorologist with the Met Office, before taking a job as regional weather presenter for the BBC in Southampton.
She joined ITV Meridian as South East weather presenter in July 2000 and from Summer 2002, took over from Carl Tyler as the station's chief weather presenter. Humphries was made redundant in February 2009 as part of major cutbacks to Meridian's regional news services. She now works as a Creative Director for 'ODYLdesign', an online fashion firm.
Debbie Thrower (born 17 November 1957) is a British television presenter who presented ITV Meridian's flagship news programme Meridian Tonight (southern edition) from its inception in 1993 to 2009. She was educated at Edgehill College, formerly a girls' independent school in Bideford, Devon.
Thrower's TV credits include newscasting for the BBC, BBC South Today and Songs of Praise. She and colleague Fred Dinenage were presenters of Meridian Tonight (South) when it first aired in 1993. In addition, she was the first person seen after the changeover of TV contractor from TVS to Meridian, shortly after the stroke of midnight on New Year's Day 1993, covering the celebrations at Winchester Cathedral, which was celebrating its 900th anniversary. She was latterly the final presenter for Channel 4s popular antiques programme Collectors Lot, which aired on weekday afternoons, gaining two million viewers a day.
She also had a BBC Radio 2 afternoon show between 1995 and 1997 replacing long-time presenter Gloria Hunniford.
