Daniel Lugo was a part of the Sun Gym Gang who tortured and murdered Frank Griga and Krisztina Furton in a botched robbery scheme.
Lugo, a weightlifter and personal trainer from Puerto Rico, was a manager at Sun Gym in Miami, Florida. The company was owned by John Mese, who was also a certified public accountant and a former bodybuilder.

Ancient Roman Walls of Lugo - UNESCO World Heritage Site
A tour of the ancient Roman walls of Lugo, a UNESCO World Heritage site! Built in the late 3rd century AD, the walls of Lugo are the oldest and most complete Roman walls still standing that encircle an entire town. The walls stretch for an impressive 2,122 metres, completely encircling what was once the Roman settlement of Lucus Augusti. They're quite imposing as well, standing 8-12 metres tall and over five metres thick. There's an excellent walk around the entire length of the walls, though unfortunately we did get quite wet! Let's check it out.

How Did Galicia Become Roman? | History of Lugo/Lucus 137 BC - 300 AD
As I explained in my previous videos on Iron Age Iberia, the Roman Conquest of Hispania took two centuries to complete, one of the last regions to be conquered being that in the very northwest of the peninsula, the modern province of Galicia and its neighbours. In this video I'll look at the Roman conquest of Galicia, the foundation of its most important city, Lucus Augusti, before exploring the pre-Roman, Celtic etymology and history of Lugo relating to the Celtic God Lugus/Lugos and some related deities in the Roman Pantheon and the Norse Pantheon.

Lugo against sanctions over his ousting, new president meets senators
(28 Jun 2012) Paraguay's newly installed president met with the Senate for the first time on Wednesday as his ousted predecessor spoke out against possible international sanctions for his dismissal by Congress last week.
President Federico Franco spoke with senators about evaluating the next steps for the country after he was sworn into office last Friday.
Franco specifically addressed the land dispute earlier this month that led to clashes between farmers and the military and left 17 people dead.
The land dispute set the stage for the impeachment of his predecessor, former president Fernando Lugo.
"One of the reasons our fellow countrymen have died is the lack of land. The lack of land (is an issue) that will be attended to in a responsible manner. The mechanism will be dialogue, con...

CHCI CAPITOL HILL BRIEFING SERIES: Domestic Violence Prevention
Join us for a public policy roundtable discussion comprised of Members of Congress, public policy experts, and national leaders, tackling some of the most pertinent issues affecting the Latino community.
To protect one of its most vulnerable populations, Latino children, California must pass a culturally competent and comprehensive prevention education policy. 15.5 million children live in households where they are exposed to domestic violence in the United States. Research shows that children exposed to domestic violence suffer worse physical, mental, and behavioral outcomes. For Latino children, these impacts are worsened by disparities in health, poverty, structural racism, and familism. Despite representing over 4 million Californians and 48% of the total population, Latino children ...

Brief Political History of Paraguay
This video explores the basics of Paraguayan history and politics to explain why Paraguay, despite having begun independent life with little violence and chaos and having been the first country in South America to industrialize ended up as one of the poorest countries in the region and one that continues to suffer from corruption. It covers from Gaspar de Francia, "el supremo" to "Marito", Mario Abdo Benítez.

STORYLINE:
Former Roman Catholic bishop Fernando Lugo won a historic victory in Paraguay's presidential election on Sunday, ending more than six decades of one-party rule with a mandate to help the nation's poor and indigenous.
His rival, Blanca Ovelar, conceded defeat after a closely fought race to lead this poor, agrarian nation where Ovelar's Colorado Party is the only ruling party most people have ever known.
"The result is irreversible and we recognise the triumph of Fernando Lugo,"said Ovelar.
News of the win by Lugo, dubbed the "bishop of the poor," set off massive parties in cities across Paraguay with horn-honking caravans of cars blaring music.
Others stamped on torn-down banners of the Colorado Party, which many Paraguayans blame for decades of corruption by political elites.
The triumph by Lugo's eclectic opposition alliance also marked the latest in a series of election wins by leftist, or centre-left, leaders in South America.
"We have nothing left to say but that we have received with happiness what the exit polls unanimously have stated, that we are the virtual winners of these elections," said Lugo.
"This is the Paraguay I dream about. A Paraguay of many colours, of many faces. A Paraguay for everybody,'' he told supporters earlier.
Lugo's triumph shattered the 61-year grip on national power by the Colorado Party, which had endured through dictatorship and democracy to become the region's longest-ruling party.
"You have decided that Paraguay is going to be an independent and free country," said Lugo.
In Paraguay's long-volatile politics, Lugo still awaited final official returns confirming his landmark triumph, which would make him he first former Catholic bishop elected as a head-of-state.
Eight months ago, Lugo welded leftist unions, Indians and poor farmers into a coalition with Paraguay's main opposition party to form the Patriotic Alliance for Change.
A bishop since 1994, he resigned the post in December 2006 to sidestep Paraguay's constitutional ban on clergy seeking office.

The mechanism will be dialogue, consensus and the predisposition from the part of government," Franco said.
He went on to add that his government plans to reach out to farmers from every part of the country and specifically those living in the Canindeyu region where the deadly clashes occurred.
Some of the South American country's neighbours, including Argentina and Brazil, have condemned the rapidity of Franco's rise and are expected to discuss possible sanctions against Paraguay at a meeting of the Mercosur trade bloc later this week.
Mercosur members have barred Franco's attendance at the meeting.
However former leader Lugo said Wednesday that sanctions or any other attempts to isolate the country would "harm the entire country."
Today, I had a meeting with small producers who export manioca, fruits, pineapple, banana and I feel very bad for them if there comes a boycott or economic blockade," Lugo said in a television interview with The Associated Press.
"However, I think the real players, those responsible in this in someway, Mercosur will think of a significant measure for these political factions," he added.
Lugo earlier said he had decided against attending Friday's Mercosur summit in Mendoza, Argentina.
He had previously said he would go to make his case to the region's leaders, but relented after Paraguay's new foreign minister warned that he could face legal repercussions if he tried to represent the country at the summit.
Paraguay's Congress booted Lugo out of office last Friday.
The Senate found him guilty of "poor performance of his duties," citing a clause in the constitution that leaves wide room for congressional interpretation.
Pro-Lugo protests were held during last week's impeachment process but largely faded after Lugo left the presidential palace.
Franco intends to serve out the remainder of Lugo's term, through August 2013.

Despite representing over 4 million Californians and 48% of the total population, Latino children in California are not centered in domestic violence prevention policy. The panel will explore the neurobiological impacts of trauma on children, familism, how Latino families and children are impacted by domestic violence, and what gaps exist in California domestic violence prevention policy and potential paths forward.
Moderated By:
Marina Sangit, CHCI-Child Welfare Graduate Fellow
Guest Speakers:
La Shonda Coleman, LCSW, Assoc. VP & University Title IX Coordinator, Pepperdine University
Dr. Blanca Lugo, Psy.D., LMFT, University of California, San Diego
Dr. Gaby Livas Stein, Associate Professor of Psychology, University of North Carolina, Greensboro
Jacquie Marroquin, Director of Programs, California Partnership to End Domestic Violence
