A high school (also secondary school, senior school, secondary college) is a school that provides adolescents with part or all of their secondary education. It may come after primary school or middle school and be followed by higher education or vocational training.
The term "high school" originated in Scotland, with the world's oldest high school being Edinburgh's Royal High School from 1505. The Royal High School was used as a model for the first public high school in the United States, Boston Latin School founded in Boston, Massachusetts.
The precise stage of schooling provided by a high school differs from country to country, and may vary within the same jurisdiction. In all of New Zealand and Malaysia, along with most of Britain and parts of Australia, Bangladesh and Canada, high school means the same thing as secondary school, but instead of starting in 9th grade, these "secondary schools" begin at ages 11 or 12.
In Australia, high school is a secondary school, from Year 7 or Year 8 through to Year 12, varying from state to state. High school immediately follows primary (elementary) school; therefore, a Year-7 Australian high-school student is sometimes as young as 12. In Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory, the term "high school" generally refers to Years 7–10, whereas the term "College" is used for Years 11–12. In Victoria the term "secondary college" has largely replaced the term "high school" following the reforms of the Labor Government in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Some schools have retained the name "high school" (such as Melbourne High School) and many have now dropped the "secondary" and are simply known as "college".
Scarsdale High School (SHS) is a public high school in Scarsdale, New York, a coterminous town and village in Westchester County, New York. It is a part of the Scarsdale Union Free School District.
The school was founded in 1917. In its very first selection process, the United States Department of Education named Scarsdale High School as "one of the 144 exemplary schools to which others may look for patterns of success." According to a study done for U.S. News & World Report, Scarsdale High School is in the nation's top 100 for math and science.
From the graduating class of 2009, 98% continued their education with college programs, and 96% entered 130 different four-year national and international colleges and universities. 15 students in the class of 2010 (4%) were named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists, and 66 (18%) students received National Merit Letters of commendation. Between 2007 and 2009, Scarsdale High School made a transition from Advanced Placement (AP) to Advanced Topics (AT) courses.
Scarsdale is a town and village in Westchester County, New York, United States, in the northern suburbs of New York City. The Town of Scarsdale is coextensive with the Village of Scarsdale, but the community has opted to operate solely with a village government, one of several villages in the state that have a similar governmental situation. As of the 2010 census, Scarsdale's population was 17,166.
Caleb Heathcote purchased the land that would become Scarsdale at the end of the 17th century and, on March 21, 1701, had it elevated to a royal manor. He named the lands after his ancestral home in Derbyshire, England. The first local census of 1712 counted twelve inhabitants, including seven African slaves. When Caleb died in 1721, his daughters inherited the property. The estate was broken up in 1774, and the town was officially founded on March 7, 1788.
The town saw fighting during the American Revolution when the Continental and British armies clashed briefly at what is now the junction of Garden Road and Mamaroneck Road. The British commander, Sir William Howe, lodged at a farmhouse on Garden Road that remains standing. Scarsdale's wartime history formed the basis for James Fenimore Cooper's novel, The Spy, written while the author lived at the Angevine Farm in the present-day Heathcote section of town.
High may refer to:
A school is an institution designed for the teaching of students (or "pupils") under the direction of teachers. Most countries have systems of formal education, which is commonly compulsory. In these systems, students progress through a series of schools. The names for these schools vary by country (discussed in the Regional section below) but generally include primary school for young children and secondary school for teenagers who have completed primary education. An institution where higher education is taught, is commonly called a university college or university.
In addition to these core schools, students in a given country may also attend schools before and after primary and secondary education. Kindergarten or pre-school provide some schooling to very young children (typically ages 3–5). University, vocational school, college or seminary may be available after secondary school. A school may also be dedicated to one particular field, such as a school of economics or a school of dance. Alternative schools may provide nontraditional curriculum and methods.

On the first weekend in October, 2013 our class came together in Scarsdale to visit, reminisce and just have fun!! This video was a labor of love from me, Ellie Hecht. It was meant to give all classmates a glimmer of what that weekend felt like. We had about 25% show up and know that the other 75% either wanted to or didn't want to. This video is for all of you to enjoy! If you want to reach me, comment below!

Robert Alan "Bobby" Durst (born 1943) is a son of the late New York real estate mogul Seymour Durst, and brother of commercial developer Douglas Durst. Durst grew up, one of four children, in Scarsdale, New York and attended Scarsdale High School. He completed his undergraduate degree at Lehigh University and attended graduate school at UCLA. Durst reportedly witnessed his mother's apparent suicide at age seven; she either fell or jumped off the roof of the Scarsdale family mansion in the presence of her son. According to Reader's Digest, Durst underwent extensive counseling because of his mother's death, and doctors found that his "deep anger" could lead to psychological problems, including schizophrenia. Scarsdale Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Edgemont High School
Bubble gum and house parties
When you stole your parents rum
And tried to screw everything that could breathe
Back in high school we didn't have a whole lot to do
We watched the world go by on the television screen
Said it's the 90's kids that's way out this is way in
Go beat each other up on the dance floor
Told us drugs were no good
But then we smoked 'em and liked 'em
So much that we smoked a little more
We liked 'em so much, we smoked a little more
Did I call your name?
Did you hear me singin' that song that I wrote for you?
You're so the same but your so different
I didn't recognize you
It's kinda hard with all that sexual confusion
Sometimes you don't know if you're gay or straight
But what's the difference, it's a wonderful illusion
Most times you won't make it past second base
I'm in a band, we kinda suck but we don't now it yet
And I don't care anyway
'Cuz soon, I'm gonna sell these drums, pay my rent
Support my kid and tell him all about way back in daddy's day
I'll tell him all about way back in daddy's day
Did I call your name?
Did you hear me singin' that song that I wrote for you?
You're so the same but your so different
I didn't recognize you
Some years later by a soda coolerator
In a corner store back in my home town
This stranger smiles at me, said
"Remember the class of '93?"
And for some reason it makes him look real proud
After all the good times he said we had
He looks at me, scratches his head
And asked me where the hell I ever went
And the funny thing is that I never even knew him
But he coulda been any one of my high school friends
Did I call your name?
Did you hear me singin' that song that I wrote for you?
Your so the same but your so different
I didn't recognize you
Did I call you name?
Singin' that song that I wrote for you
Singin' that song I wrote for you
