University students find 'sugar daddies' to help pay bills
A real social shocker emerging in our country. The controversial 'Sugar daddy dating' concept, which matches young women with wealthy, usually older men, has a presence in our cities. The Delhi page of a US-based internet dating website has profiles of 15 sugar daddies while Mumbai has eleven. The website also has 10 sugar babies from Delhi and 14 from Mumbai. Tall claims dominate the entries from here, with most of the Sugar Daddies saying that they are willing to spend around Rs.2.5 Lakh approximately a month for the sugar babies. NewsX's sister concern Sunday Guardian has reported that as many as 168 female graduates from Cambridge University signed up at the controversial US-based internet dating website last year. The move by the girls was dubbed as a novel way of helping fund their tuition fees. Besides this, the London School of Economics had 163 entries followed by Edinburgh University and London's University College with 148 and 140 entries respectively.

Christopher Lee dicusses Gandalf, Saruman and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Sir Christopher Lee, at University College Dublin (2011), discusses Gandalf and Saruman in JRR Tolkein's Lord of the Rings www.ucd.ie Legendary British horror actor, Sir Christopher Lee who portrayed the blood-sucking vampire Dracula in the 1958 Hammer Horror Film was awarded Honorary Life Membership by the UCD Law Society. "We are honoured to present Sir Christopher Lee with Honorary Life Membership of the UCD Law Society. His corpus of work is truly legendary," says Francis McNamara, Auditor of the UCD Law Society. "His dedication to his craft for more than half a century should serve as an inspiration to each and every one of us." "His portrayal of the blood-sucking vampire Dracula in the 1958 Hammer Horror production terrified audiences throughout the world, and as a result Christopher Lee, who stands at 6 foot 5 inches tall, became one of the most recognisable faces and figures of cinema." Previous recipients of Honorary Life Membership of the UCD Law Society include: Jessie Jackson, Bill Clinton, Jeremy Irons, and Seamus Heaney. But it was not until the early 2000s that his career reached even higher heights from his appearances in two blockbuster film franchises: as Saruman the White in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (2001-2003), and as Count Dooku in Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones (2002). Born in 1922 in London, England, Christopher Lee is of noble Italian ancestry on his mother's side (Carandini). His mother, Contessa Estelle Marie Carandini di ...

Liquid Skies is the story of an astronaut hurtling across the universe--past suns you and I may never glimpse, yet fighting battles we may all face ourselves one day.
This is my student short film at Art Center College of Design. It is my first big attempt at animating or doing something at this scale and finish. This is part of a broader story that I am working on, following an astronaut across the suns of many galaxies. I hope to share it with the world in the next year.

Projection on the Bridge - Immersive Surfaces - As Above, So Below
www.light-harvest.com
We set out to create a one of a kind public art experience, a projection mapping installation for multiple surfaces and multiple dimensions. With a hand picked team of artists and sponsorship by Senovva, something incredible emerged.
Unfolding like an animated modern Botticelli painting, flowing above our heads and spreading outwards
in every direction, “As Above, So Below” immersed viewers in the architecture of the Manhattan Bridge. Audiences physically entered the story and explored the shimmering surface as it ignited with messages and symbols.
This originally conceived video mapping project was a challenge offered to a group of artists from varying backgrounds. Led by digital arts pioneers Farkas Fulop and Ryan Uzilevsky, with post production support by Sina Taherkhani, the group created a one-of-a-kind experience. Adding to the fun were Artists Simon Anaya, John Parker, Richard Jochum and Johnny Moreno. The final projection utilized over 25,000 square feet of architectural canvas, and ultimately won "Best In Show" at the Dumbo Arts Festival.
This production tested every technique in image-making conceivable in the short time frame, including stop motion animation, and the suspension of over twenty performance artists from fly wires at sixteen feet off the ground.
Leo Kuelb is responsible for securing the site and bringing the original team together. He also put together a great international video art showcase between screenings of "As Above, So Below."

The Origin of Mass
This experimental video was created as a final project for my procedural animation course at Savannah College of Art and Design. http://scad.edu It was inspired by demoscene and sub-atomic particle collision images. The name comes from the Higgs Boson prticle which is expected to provide a scientific foundation for the origin of mass in the universe.
My special thanks goes to professor Ronald Bernard and Puryx aka Christian Rønde who let me use his music for the soundtrack originally created for a demo called Nucleophile http://bit.ly/aErBrg
You should visit prof. Bernard's website if you want to see some amazing student work:

Lava Pour No. 5
Syracuse Lava Project
On January 22, 2011, the fifth lava pour took place using the #700 gas fired tilt furnace operated by the SU Sculpture Program. This 610lb pour was the most successful to date in terms of material consistency, volume, duration of pour, viscosity, duration of flow, structure of flow, etc. The lava was poured on to a 6” thick block of ice measuring 3.5’ by 10’. This pour was conducted for Prof. Ben Edwards, Dickinson College Earth Sciences Department. Prof. Edwards is a specialist in the area of lava and ice interaction.
On February 12, 2011, Pour No. 6 will take place on a large block of ice and through a series of ice tunnels. The SU Lava Project is a joint research venture between SU Earth Sciences and SU Sculpture. For further information please contact Prof. Robert Wysocki, SU Sculpture at rjwysock@syr.edu or Dr. Jeffrey Karson, SU Earth Sciences at jakarson@syr.edu

Fifty People One Question: Georgia College & State University
Hey, I'm Marvin. This project was inspired by the Fifty People One Question series by PostSecrets. I've always just been a huge fan and really wish they would put out more videos. I don't have any kind of training in film making or any fancy equipment, for that matter. So if you're looking for something amazing like you're used to seeing from the original series, you've definitely come to the wrong place :) I just had a blast working on something that means a lot to me. I hope I did everyone justice and that most of you enjoy the video. If nothing else, its always fun to see a familiar face on the internetz.
