Serbia
Serbia is a landlocked country located at the crossroads of Central- and Southeastern Europe, covering the southern part of the Pannonian Plain and central part of the Balkans. Serbia has borders with 8 countries, Hungary to the north; Romania, Bulgaria to the east; Republic of Macedonia to the south; and Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro to the west; its border with Albania is disputed. Although landlocked, the country has access to the Black Sea through the Danube river. Its capital city, Belgrade, is among the largest in Southeastern Europe. After their settlement in the Balkans, Serbs formed a medieval kingdom that evolved into a Serbian Empire, which reached its peak in the 14th century. By the 16th century Serbian lands were conquered and occupied by Ottomans. Serbia regained independence from the Ottoman Empire in a 19th century revolution and subsequently expanded its territory. Serbia was the second state in Europe that abolished feudalism and serfdom. The former Habsburg crownland of Vojvodina joined Serbia in 1918. Decimated as a result of World War I, the country united with other South Slavic peoples into a Yugoslav state which would exist in several formations up until 2006, when Serbia once again became independent. In February 2008, the parliament of Kosovo, Serbia's southern province with an ethnic Albanian majority, declared independence. The response from the international community has been mixed. Serbia regards Kosovo as its autonomous ...

Bolivia
Bolivia,is a landlocked country in central South America. It is bordered by Brazil to the north and east, Paraguay and Argentina to the south, and Chile and Peru to the west. Prior to European colonization, the Bolivian territory was a part of the Inca Empire, which was the largest state in Pre-Columbian America. The Spanish Empire conquered the region in the 16th century. During most of the Spanish colonial period, this territory was called Upper Peru or Charcas and was under the administration of the Viceroyalty of Peru, which included most of Spain's South American colonies. After declaring independence in 1809, 16 years of war followed before the establishment of the republic, named for Simón Bolívar, on August 6, 1825. Bolivia has struggled through periods of political instability, dictatorships and economic woes. Bolivia is a democratic republic, divided into nine departments. Its geography is varied from the peaks of the Andes in the west, to the eastern lowlands, situated within the Amazon Basin. It is a developing country, with a medium Human Development Index score, and a poverty level around 60%. Its main economic activities include agriculture, forestry, and fishing, mining and manufacturing goods such as textiles, clothing, refined metals, and refined petroleum. Bolivia is very wealthy in minerals especially tin. The Bolivian population, estimated at 9 million, is multiethnic, including Amerindians, Mestizos, Europeans, Asians and Africans. The main language ...

Serbia
Serbia, is a landlocked country located at the crossroads of Central- and Southeastern Europe, covering the southern lowlands of the Carpathian basin and central part of the Balkans. Serbia borders Hungary to the north; Romania, Bulgaria to the east; Republic of Macedonia to the south; and Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro to the west; its border with Albania is disputed. Despite the country's small size, the EU's largest river and tributary to the Black sea, the Danube, passes through Serbia with 21% of its overall length, joined by its biggest tributaries, the Sava and Tisza rivers.[6] Serbia's capital city, Belgrade, is among the most populous in Southeastern Europe. After their settlement in the Balkans, Serbs formed a medieval kingdom that evolved into a Serbian Empire, which reached its peak in the 14th century. By the 16th century Serbian lands were conquered and occupied by Ottomans, at times interrupted by the Habsburgs. In the early 1800s, Serbian revolution established the country as the region's first constitutional monarchy which subsequently expanded its territory, pioneering the abolition of feudalism and serfdom in the Southeastern Europe. Hungary
Hungary is a landlocked country in the Carpathian Basin in Central Europe, bordered by Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia. Its capital is Budapest. Hungary is a member of EU, NATO, OECD, V4 and is a Schengen state. The official language is Hungarian, which is part of the Finno-Ugric family, thus one of the four official languages of the European Union that are not of Indo-European origin note Following a Celtic (after c. 450 BC) and a Roman (9 BC c. 430) period, the foundation of Hungary was laid in the late 9th century by the Hungarian ruler Árpád, whose great-grandson Stephen I of Hungary was crowned with a crown sent from Rome by the pope in 1000. After being recognized as a kingdom, Hungary remained a monarchy for 946 years, and at various points was regarded as one of the cultural centers of the Western world. Hungary was partially occupied by the Ottoman Empire in the 16-17th centuries, after which it became part of the Habsburg Empire and later a constituent half of the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy. A significant power until the end of World War I, Hungary lost over 70% of its territory, along with 3.3 million people of Hungarian ethnicity,[4] under the Treaty of Trianon, the terms of which have been considered excessively harsh by many in Hungary.[6] The country also lost five of its ten largest Hungarian cities. The kingdom was succeeded by a Communist era (19471989) during which Hungary gained widespread international attention ...

ኢትዮጵያ Ethiopia The Hidden Empire
ኢትዮጵያ Ethiopia is a landlocked country located in the Horn of Africa, and officially known as the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. It is the second-most populous nation in Africa, with over 85.2 million people, and the tenth-largest by area, with its 1100000 km2. The capital is Addis Ababa. Ethiopia is bordered by Eritrea to the north, Sudan to the west, Djibouti and Somalia to the east, and Kenya to the south. Ethiopia was a monarchy for most of its history, and the Ethiopian dynasty traces its roots to the 2nd century BC.[6] Ethiopia is also one of the oldest sites of human existence known to scientists today, having yielded some of humanity's oldest traces.[7] It may be the region from which Homo sapiens first set out for the Middle East and points beyond.[8][9][10] When Africa was divided up by European powers at the Berlin Conference, Ethiopia was one of only two countries that retained its independence. It was one of only four African members of the League of Nations. After a brief period of Italian occupation, Ethiopia became a charter member of the United Nations. When other African nations received their independence following World War II, many of them adopted the colors of Ethiopia's flag, and Addis Ababa became the location of several international organizations focused on Africa. Modern Ethiopia and its current borders are a result of significant territorial reduction in the north and expansion in the south toward its present borders, owing to ...

Meles fought for Eritrean independence and sovereignty, not Ethiopia's.
Prime Minister Meles Zenawi fought for Eritrean independence from what he believed was 'Ethiopian colonialism" and turned Ethiopia into a landlocked country.
He persuaded the UN to recognize Eritrea as a new nation, and Ethiopia as a landlocked nation. He deceptively called his organization "Tigrian", though he is an outright Eritrean by conviction and blood. Now when Ethiopians ask him if there are chances to reclaim the Red Sea Port of Assab by legal means, he tries to deceive the people by wrongly referring to "International Laws."
Why should an Eritrean who is still in power in Ethiopia fight against the key national interests of his country? But some do, and he plays on their psychology. He advises them Ethiopia has many neighbors with ports.

Burlington Landlocked Forest - 4min
The Landlocked Forest, owned by the Town of Burlington, has more than 250 acres of meadows, paths, wetlands, vernal pools and forested land.
The Landlocked Forest is bordered by Rt. 3 on the east, Rt. 128 on the south, Lexington on the west and Bedford on the north. If you want to walk in the forest, there is legal, public parking on Turning Mill Road in Lexington.
The Burlington Landlocked Forest has a number of stone walls and old house foundations, vivid evidence of the early history of Burlington.
The Burlington Landlocked Forest was purchased by the Town of Burlington in the 1980s to prevent industrial development that might pollute the town’s water supply. Today, the trees and land continue to protect the water supply and prevent flooding.
More than 30 species of birds have been seen in the Landlocked Forest, including the red winged blackbird, the cedar waxwing, the rose breasted grosbeak, the pileated woodpecker and the red tailed hawk. It is also home to deer, fox and other woodland creatures.
There are over 13 miles of trails running through the Landlocked Forest. Hundreds of Massachusetts residents use the trails for hiking, cross country skiing, mountain biking, and snowshoeing.
Incredibly, in spite of the proximity of two busy highways, walking through the forest is a quiet, peaceful experience. When you walk in the forest, you are very aware of the seasons and the weather. As the seasons go through their endless cycle, the forest, the meadows and the wetlands change color and texture.
There is legal, public access to the Landlocked Forest at the parking lot on Turning Mill Road in Lexington. From the parking lot, walk east along the power lines and then set off on a forest path. Go to www.landlockedforest.com for maps and more information.

[PCS] Teenage Cool Kids - Landlocked State
I first found out about TCK through a compilation for 1919 Hemphill, an awesome venue in Ft. Worth, TX. We tried to work out a Pink Couch a couple of times, but something always came up. Luckily we were able to remedy that on their recent trip to Brooklyn. Their most recent LP is 2009's Foreign Lands, which was released by Protagonist Music. Lead singer, Andrew Savage, also moved to the Brooklyn area, so hopefully this doesn't mean the end of Teenage Cool Kids.

Baluchistan: Land of the Baloch Nation
Baluchistan literally meaning "The country of Baluch" straddles into 3 countries Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan including part of southeastern Iran, western Pakistan, and southwestern Afghanistan. In all three countries where a part of Baluchistan had been annexed, Baluchistan is the most underdeveloped, the most marginalized, and the most crestfallen province. With its strategically important Deep Sea port Gwadar located on the south-western coast of Pakistan, on the Arabian Sea, Baluchistan bridges the Middle East and Southwest Asia to Central Asia and South Asia, and forms the closest oceanic frontage for the land-locked countries of Central Asia. Baluchistan is rich in Oil and Gas with its soil that holds large quantities of gold, coal, copper, silver, platinum, aluminium, and above all, uranium, is a potential transit zone for a pipeline transporting natural gas from Iran and Turkmenistan to India. In 1928 Iran occupied the western Baluchistan against which hundreds of Baluch tribesmen fought and sacrificed their lives and in 1948 Pakistan invaded the Eastern Baluchistan by killing hundreds of armless Baluch and annexed the Baluch territory against the will of Indigenous Baluch. Baluch has never accepted the fake political boundaries dividing its territory nor has accepted the illegal occupation of these oppressing states. Since the occupation of its territory, Baluch has been struggling against this occupation and for the liberation of its Motherland. Pakistan and ...
