Di Lampedusa If the existing oligarchic politico-economic system constitutes the comfort zone that President Benigno Aquino III will inherit, and is accustomed to, that is the status quo. Therefore, future changes will be tantamount to repair jobs rather than systems overhaul. On the other hand, the people are anticipating that President Aquino will make good his promise to pursue fundamental "transformational" changes that will radically alter the face and character of Philippine society rather than superficial cosmetic makeovers. With the much awaited inaugurals and oathtaking tomorrow, neither the complete Cabinet line up nor the agenda for the next 100 days has been disclosed. First, ordinarily, a "Shadow Cabinet" and flagship issues should have already been announced and floated in order for the new government to gauge the reaction of the nation while allowing the President some leeway to make changes or adjustments. Thus far, the names that have been tentatively announced have not elicited excitement, or aroused the interest of the public, as they appear to be "recycled" officials from previous administrations.
