The installation consists of 4,000 LED lights which will be distributed through the PHP (People's Housing Project) assisting the burden of rising electricity costs and educating consumer behavior where it most counts. Providing Access to Health Care for all Kenyans -- Manda Maweni Island, Lamu County

One of the challenges the Government of Kenya faces is providing access to health care to its population especially in remote areas. In Manda Maweni Island, Lamu County, residents cannot access health care due to high costs of sea transport which can cost up to $22. USAID, through its AIDS, Population and Health Integrated Assistance program, and working with the Government of Kenya, provides transport and a stipend to a health team from Lamu District Hospital to the island. The team conducts a health clinic every two weeks; bring health care closer to the people. USAID invests in population and health programs that aim to improve the survival, well-being and productivity of the Kenyan population—especially for poor, marginalized and underserved communities.
