"A Million Miles in 45 Seconds"
"A Million Miles in 45 Seconds"
Getting to a million miles isn't typical. But neither is Joe. See his remarkable story: Joe just reached one million miles! Check out what it looks like to drive a million miles in 45 seconds. Driving a Honda for a million miles is an extraordinary feat. So how did Joe do it? For starters, he's read and followed his owner's manual and maintenance schedule to the letter. He's also a stickler for fluids, he checked them weekly, switched them seasonally (10W-30 in summer and 5W-30 in winter), and changed them every 5000 miles. He's been loyal to the same brand of oil and never let it go below a quart low. You know how most people let their fuel go to almost empty? Joe never did. He's also a creature of habit, using only Honda air, oil and fuel filters. Joe never rode heavy on the brakes, and changed the fluid every few years. He's also replaced the fuel pump, both cooling fans and the radiator twice. Besides his fastidious maintenance, Joe's Accord made it to one million miles because he's loved it. He's treated it with respect and always drove it responsibly. In fact, Joe has only gotten one speeding ticket in a million miles—that must be some kind of record. When it comes to driving, Joe's the man. Check out Joe's story at www.MillionMileJoe.com

Rolling back digital odometers
Rolling back digital odometers
Anyone who's ever shopped for a used car has seen these words in classified ads: "LOW MILEAGE". But can you be sure the numbers on the dash are true -- or have they been rolled back to inflate the value of the car? Computer hackers know how to roll back even digital odometers, costing you big bucks. Rolling back odometers is illegal, but it's a scam that's growing. Automotive experts say the best way to protect yourself against hidden problems in used cars is to do your homework before buying. Compare the mileage in the CARFAX Report with the mileage on the odometer. If it doesn't match up, don't buy that car.

Repair Odometer Backlight Acura TL 1999 - 2003
My odometer backlight stopped working or at times is very dim on my second generation Acura TL 2003. I found how to fix it over here:tl.acurazine.com I made this video to supplement the advice given in the Acura TL forum. Please message me with any questions. 1. go to AcuraAutomotiveParts.org and enter your car model or VIN # 2. Then select "Meter Components" from the list. 3. The little circuit board for my model was part# 78147-SOK-A01 "Print Panel" for $33.64. 4. There are also 4 light bulbs for the backlighting you might want to get also, just in case one or more are really burned out-these are only #3.99 each. They are the lights you see on the back of the gauge cluster with the RED base ( part # 78181-SOK-A21 ; 9.5 V ; 1.14W) Video sponsor: www.simplyadditions.com

GM Electronic Gear Indicator and Tripometer Odometer Cluster
GM Electronic Gear Indicator and Tripometer Odometer Cluster
Didn't light up anymore. This video is pretty short on details, I didn't have much time :) Symptoms: PRND321 and Tripometer/Odometer no longer light. Everything else works as normal. What you need: Basic soldering skills Rosin soldering flux Rosin core solder 4 150 ohm 1/5 watt resistors The 1999 Buick Century dash only has one screw holding the cover that crosses the whole thing. It is under the fuse cover on the passenger side of the vehicle. There are four screws that hold the cluster in the dash, they are in the four corners. The electrical connector needs to be squeezed from the top and bottom to be removed. Apply rosin flux to solder pads on circuit board and leads from resistors before beginning soldering.

1993 Honda Accord odometer changing to 300000 miles
1993 Honda Accord odometer changing to 300000 miles
This is my 1993 Honda Accord odometer rolling over to 300000 miles. Let's see an American-made car do that on the original engine and transmission! I bought it 3 years ago with 270000 miles on it. I paid $600 US. Think about it. A relatively cheap monthly car payment for a new car is $200 per month. In three months, I got my money back! I haven't had to do much for it. I do all my own work on the car. I did the timing belt at 272000 miles. That was probably the biggest expense I put into it as far as time and money go (more so time.) It only left me stranded once and of course it was the distributor igniter (older Honda's weak point.) I had new tires put on and did my own oil changes and tune-ups on it. The a/c still works! The body could be in better shape. The wheel-wells have the usual rust on it. The clutch has over 100000 miles on it yet it doesn't slip and seems to be strong. The c/v axle has been clicking since I got it, but I haven't changed it yet. I think I will sell it this summer or something. So the Big Three automakers are tanking, yet Honda, Toyota, and other foreign name cars are doing ok. Hmmm, I wonder why? It's called quality. Sure some Honda's are riddled with problems and some Big Three cars never have any major problems, but look at the big picture.
