VESAK Sri Lanka
Vesākha (Pali; Sanskrit: Vaiśākha वैशाख) is an annual holiday observed traditionally by Buddhists in the Indian subcontinent and South East Asian countries of Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Indonesia.[1] Sometimes informally called "Buddha's Birthday," it actually encompasses the birth, enlightenment (nirvāɳa), and passing away (Parinirvāna) of Gautama Buddha.[2] The exact date of Vesākha varies according to the various lunar calendars used in different traditions. In Theravada countries following the Buddhist calendar, it falls on the full moon Uposatha day (typically the 5th or 6th lunar month). Vesākha Day in China is on the eighth of the fourth month in the Chinese lunar calendar. The date varies from year to year in the Western Gregorian calendar but falls in April or May. In 2010 the first full moon day in May is the twenty-seventh.[3] However, Myanmar and Cambodia observe the event this year on April 28, 2010. (Extracted from Wikipedia)

TTLT E7 Pig Talisman... These are Pigs called "Jruok Chnam Kurl". "Jruok Chnam Kurl" are what Maitreya Buddha use to designate the First Year of Buddhist Calendar/Zodiac. It is the year where Maitreya Buddha coming to rescue Religion (Shakyamuni Gautoma), but not sure which year it is. Just a designation for now. For now, Buddhas had asked to retrieve these Relics first to show to all Buddhist children so that they may be inspired to have one in possession so that they may be in time for Maitreya Buddha who came to rescue Buddhism. So, all Buddhists (Put Borisat and Maha Borisat), please observe (Animotenear). Go back for more. These are just a few Pigs shown here for demonstrations. They represent the First Year of Maitreya Buddhism's Zodiac/Calendar. They are being taken cared of by Mother Earth. As all may see, Mother Earth sits in a meditative style with palms joined together pointing upward. Here, She is making prayers to have Maitreya Buddhism be known all over the Earth and even the 33 World Systems in Heaven. May it be successful. May all Children (Put Borisat and Maha Borisat) observed (Animotenear).

BOROBUDUR TEMPLE : Vesak / Waisak Borobudur
-- More than a thousand Buddhist Monks in Pilgrimage Journey -- A major festival in the Buddhist Calendar, Waisak day celebrates the birth, enlightenment and death of Buddha Siddharta Gautama. Borobudur is a central meeting point for Buddhists from all over Indonesia, and around the world on this auspicious day held every year, on a full moon in either April or May each year. Each year one of a series of Buddhist organisations take the lead in the festivities, which include a procession from Mendut temple through to Pawon temple and then Borobudur. Depending on the organiser of the year, the emphasis is slightly different, but it is always colourful and filled with festivity and food. The around 15000 participants stretch for over a kilometre on the walk to Borobudur, where they settle before a dias with Borobudur as a backdrop. The thousands sit and join together in repeating mantras, is a powerful and humbling experience. Then a meditation begins, with a complete silence. Intense.

The kids very cute and was able to give a lot of gifts out to the beautiful kids...I love kids..... The Buddhist Lent Day at Wat Greensboro of NC July 25, 2010
Today is Kao Punsa at our local temple Wat Greensboro of NC. Kao Punsa is the tradition of Buddhist Lent or the annual three-month Rains Retreat known in Laos and Thailand as Punsa, which dated back to the early Buddhism in ancient India, this is the time where monks spent three months of the annual rainy season in permanent dwellings. This is to avoid unnecessary traveling during the period when crops were still new for fear that they might accidentally step on young plants. In the ancient time, the Lord Buddha left earth for 3 months to visit his mother up in heaven, he wanted to show his gratitude by chanting for her during this Lent period. It is also considered inauspicious to get married or move house during the Lent period, and after the end of the lent period then the calendar is open for weddings.

The ceremony started at 13:00 at the Two Lions Square and went through the Eakereak Avenue to finish at the new Buddhist shrink on the Independence Park with the assistant of several faithfuls. Pisar Bochea commemorates the birth, enlightening and passing away of Siddharta Gautama, Buddha or Preah Puth in Khmer. euronews Life - Thailand's spiritual soul
www.euronews.com Buddhism is an essential part of Thai culture which has retained its significance in the modern world. In the second edition of Thai Life we are looking at the fourth largest religion in the world. We'll also get to experience one of the most important dates in the Buddhist calendar: Vishaka Bucha day. The monotonous chanting of the monks sets the spiritual tone of the festival. The whole of Thailand comes together to celebrate the birth, enlightenment and the passing of Buddha. However, this year's festivities are extra special: it's the 2600th anniversary of Buddha's enlightenment and Thailand is getting ready to host visiting Buddhists from all over the world. Kim McSweeney is an Australian Buddhist devotee: "It's beautiful to see everybody in national dress, coming together in a cultural way, it's always in a spiritual way. And it's wonderful to see other traditions, there are other monks here. I have just met some Cambodian monks and there are Chinese ones as well and all the different nationalities are represented because we all come together with our hearts for Buddha." Buddha - the awakened one - is not worshipped as a saint, but as a role model and as the religion has no God, its keystones are personal and spiritual development. Followers are encouraged to learn and apply Buddha's practices to daily life, as Ajahn Jayasaro explains: "Buddhism is a different kind of religion to the ones that we are familiar with in the West. If the religious ...
