Nestorianism is a Christological doctrine that emphasizes the disunion between the human and divine natures of Jesus. It was advanced by Nestorius, Patriarch of Constantinople from 428–431, influenced by Nestorius' studies under Theodore of Mopsuestia at the School of Antioch. Nestorius's teachings brought him into conflict with other prominent church leaders, most notably Cyril of Alexandria, who criticized especially his rejection of the title Theotokos for the Virgin Mary. Nestorius and his teachings were eventually condemned as heretical at the First Council of Ephesus in 431 and the Council of Chalcedon in 451, leading to the Nestorian Schism, in which churches supporting Nestorius broke with the rest of the Christian Church. Following that, many of Nestorius's supporters relocated to the Sasanian Empire, where they affiliated with the local Christian community, known as the Church of the East. Over the next decades the Church of the East became increasingly Nestorian in doctrine, leading to it becoming known alternately as the Nestorian Church.
Nestorianism is a form of dyophysitism, and can be seen as the antithesis to monophysitism, which emerged in reaction to Nestorianism. Where Nestorianism holds that Christ had two loosely united natures, divine and human, monophysitism holds that he had but a single nature, his human nature being absorbed into his divinity. A brief definition of Nestorian Christology can be given as: "Jesus Christ, who is not identical with the Son but personally united with the Son, who lives in him, is one hypostasis and one nature: human." Both Nestorianism and monophysitism were condemned as heretical at the Council of Chalcedon. Monophysitism survived and developed into the Miaphysitism of the modern Oriental Orthodox churches.

1999 Orientale Lumen Conference III on the topic of Mary and the Church. Plenary 1 by Chaldean Catholic Bishop Mar Ashur Bawai Soro a former Assyrian Church of the East Bishop. Discussed the history of veneration (hyper-dulia) of ever virgin Mary the Mother of Christ our God and Savior and the worship (latria) of Holy Qurbana in the tradition of Church of the East.
Church of the East venerate the Three Greek Doctors: Diodore of Tarsus who presided at the second year council of the Second Ecumenical Council of the First Constantinople in 382 combatting Arian Theopaschism, whom St. John Chrysostom venerate as new St. John the Baptist for his great defense of Nicene faith; Theodore of Mopsuestia, St. John Chrysostom's close friend who continuing their teacher's teaching against Apollinarian Miaphysitism; and Nestorius of Constantinople whom Church of the East accepted with strict scrutiny and qualification. All of them accept the devotion of ever virgin Mary to be the Mother of God in so far that this veneration doesn't falling into the heresy of Collyndrianism, worshipping the Blessed.
This shows faithful continuation to the deposit of Apostolic Faith despite of misfortune schism 1,500 years ago at the Third Ecumenical Council of Ephesus in 431 between Roman and Persian churches. Nestorius near the time of his death in exile in Egyptian desert wrote the Bazaar of Heracleides an apology of his acceptance of the unity of two physes divinity and humanity in the one prosopon of Logos incarnate as clarified through the Formula of Union between Ss. Cyril of Alexandria and John of Antioch. This later is clarified by Pope St. John Paul II and Catholicos Mar Dinkha IV through mutual lifting of anathemas in 1994 that both Roman and Persian churches are faithful to common Nicene faith.

Here we summon up a lost world, the Graeco-Roman Christian society of the Near East, as it existed for almost a millennium prior to the Islamic Invasions.
The evidence for this world lies all about us, in monumental ruins just as spectacular as those on the northern shores of the Mediterranean and on our library shelves. But our shared historical memory has no image of this world after the time of Cleopatra. Our forgetfulness renders the subsequent history of medieval Christendom unintelligible.
This episode tries to fill in the void in our memory, to paint an image of how a rich Graeco-Roman life was once lived by what have long since become Muslim societies.
How this eastern Graeco-Roman society became a Muslim one is a very long story, but it begins with a sudden barbarian conquest, the first jihad, starting around 636 AD.
Contents
The Graeco-Roman Near East as a forgotten civilisation.
Created by Alexander the Great and his Successors in the 300s BC, it constituted an integral society of Western character until the 640s AD.
The Roman Empire had a Hellenic culture. By 400 AD this culture had become Christianised.
Hellenic Egypt in the 500s and 600s AD.
Hellenic Syria in the 500s and 600s AD.
The Helleniized Near East was the birthplace of Christianity, and remained its heartland for 500 years.
Some characteristics of the development of Christianity: powerful bishops, the cult of relics, monasteries in Egypt, holy hermits in Syria.
Limits to an emperor’s power: the circus crowd, the bishops. The Roman emperors as part-theocrats.
The schisms of the bishops: Chalcedonianism (Orthodox & Catholic), Nestorian (modern Iraq) and Monophysitism (modern Egypt).
The lack of evidence for early Islam. Legendary character of Islamic historiography.
Some things we do know of Arabian tribal society.
First jihad into lower Mesopotamia (modern Iraq)

With my Orthodox neighbour to my north being conquered by a Tengri claimant, I eagerly wait until the heathens win. I will bring the heathens the truth of Nestorius!
Nestorius was denounced as a heretic at the Council of Ephesus in 431, which was confirmed at the Council of Chalcedon in 451. What became known as Nestorianism survived throughout the Levant and Egypt, before becoming a "Dhimmi" community after the Arab conquests. I have made a custom Nestorian character in the mountains of Armenia, the last hold out of the true faith..
Will I flourish, and prove that Nestorius was right, or will I be crushed between my Orthodox and Muslim neighbours?
