Lake Huron Sinkholes
The video highlights selected imagery from our research on the submerged sinkholes of Lake Huron. Due to the unique karst geology of the Alpena, Michigan area, cracks and sinkhole have formed on the Lake Huron floor which are venting groundwater. Here, flowing groundwater containing high sulfates and low oxygen forms a distinct layer along the lake floor that fuels the growth of microbial mats. Learn more at www.gvsu.edu

Trip across Lake Huron on my Bayliner Avanti 3250
In the spring of 2008 I decided to make a short documentary of me and my 32' Bayliner crossing Lake Huron. The trip started in Sarnia and ended in Tobermory. I was single-handed and it was an adventurous thing to do. I made sure I always wore my PFD in case I fell overboard. The trip took 9 hours and $1500 in gas. It was well worth it for the bragging rights at my marina.

Lake Invaders: The Fight for Lake Huron
The third largest freshwater lake on the planet has been invaded by numerous exotic species over the last century. "Lake Invaders: The Fight For Lake Huron" is a documentary which explores the threat to Lake Huron's ecosystem and the innovative solutions employed by biologists. Biologists from around the Great Lakes describe invaders such as the sea lamprey, alewife, zebra mussel, quagga mussel, goby, and killer amphipod. They describe the damage caused by these invaders and efforts to manage Lake Huron's ecosystem and multi-million dollar fisheries.

Lake Huron Steelhead
Johnny Steelhead and myself put a smack down on Steelhead, Lake Trout, Coho and Pinks. The seven fish on video all came within 1 hour 7 mins. In the 2 day we went 11-13 and 12-13 with 2 short fish releases each day. One steelhead was 8 inches.

Driving to Lake Huron: Fullarton, Ontario to Grand Bend
This drive begins in Fullarton (sorry for the spelling error!) and heads west towards Lake Huron, on County Routes 20 and 83, passing through Exeter, Ontario, then turning south on Hwy. 21. I take a detour through the resort community of Grand Bend, before heading south again, into a tremendous storm. Enjoy watching the clouds sweep over me... then a brief glimpse of the sunset in Sarnia, Ontario.

Lake Huron Surf Short
Quick and dirty little edit of some footage from surfing at Inverhuron, Canada on October 8th, 2009. Seen in the video is James Kerrick and Todd surfing, Barry Thompson bodyboarding and James Hooey kayaking on waves averaging about 4 feet.
It was a moderate southwest breeze from 11am through till 3pm with great air temperatures. A good time was had by all!!
Lots of Magic Bullets looks applied...probably way over the top but I was bored :)

Hurricane Sandy arrives to coast of Lake Huron Monday Oct 29, 2012
With winds so strong you can lean backyards and not fall, water & sand mixed into the wind creating harsh sandpaper like mixture hitting your face and the fight to walk into winds that feel like a solid barrier at every step. The greatest effect is the roar like sound of the wind as it rips through treetops matched by the strong waves crashing against the rock barrier. A barrier that usually sits between 30feet of beach... now covered in water. Welcome to Brights Grove Ontario Sandy - please go easy on this beautiful little cottage town we love so much.
