The Natt Spil: Discover something wonderful

*/

There are plenty of people in the city of Madison that have walked right past this small, unassuming restaurant without even knowing they were missing out on perhaps Madison’s best dining experience. The Natt Spil is quietly nestled at 211 King Street between the large downtown Great Dane and the even larger Madison Mark apartment building. Under the shadows of these two complexes, the Natt Spil is doing something special. The craft cocktails and specialty food that are carefully prepared in the tiny kitchen-bar mix dining styles and delight your senses.

While the menu is fairly limited, there is not a dish here that is not worth trying. For beginners at the Clark Street-style (Clark Street in Chicago has a host of small restaurants and bars that literally open up their storefronts in the summer months to cater to outdoor seating, just like the Natt Spil does in Madison) bar, Dave O’s Roast Pork Sammie or any of the wood-fired pizzas are easy choices. The Pork Sandwich is tender and moist with the fresh jalapenos and smoke tomato mayonnaise adding a bit of a kick. The pizzas are all fired to perfection and rarely over-done like some of the Natt Spil’s wood oven counterparts.

From these more classic selections the Natt Spil’s menu gets a little more adventurous with mussels, tofu, and some eastern-themed cuisines. However, all of these are equally as delicious. It is easily possible that you could enjoy every single offering on their small, but diverse menu.

The Natt Spil can also be a number of different things. It can be a quiet, intimate restaurant or it can be a DJ, dance club showcase for a late night good time. Mix the great food with the ever-changing atmosphere and the Natt Spil is truly a place that everyone in Madison needs to discover.
