Innocent village girl, Devi (Nutan) meets Shekhar (Sanjeev Kumar), a young doctor, whose ideals are to do social service in villages and help the masses. Their meeting blossoms into love and they get married. But, this irks Pooranchand (Rehman), the elder brother of Shekhar, who blesses them with a heavy heart. Rampyari, the mother-in-law of Pooranchand wants her younger daughter, Shobha to get married to Shekhar and she plots tactics to uproot Devi from the house. Her efforts crown with success, when Shekhar goes abroad for work and a notorious blackmailer Joginder comes to the house. Rampyari and Jogindar join hands and both are successful in making Pooranchand's mind prejudiced and getting Devi thrown out of the house . On his return, Shekhar goes on a frantic search for Devi. But the network of conspiracy woven against Devi is so strong that even Shekhar starts doubting Devi when he finds a photograph of her in a brothel. Will Rampyari and Jogindar succeed in their devious games? Can Devi survive the test of time and unite with Shekhar?

"Devi" [1970] is an Indian Hindi film directed by V. Madhusudana Rao. Starring Nutan Behl, Sanjeev Kumar, Aruna Irani, Mehmood, Sarika, Madan Puri and Rehman. Music is by Laximikant Pyarelal............. Mohammed Rafi (Hindi: मोहम्मद रफ़ी, Urdu: محمد رفیع; December 24, 1924 July 31, 1980), often addressed as Rafi Sahib, was an Indian playback singer whose career spanned four decades and is one of the most versatile male singers in the history of Indian cinema. Rafi sang in many Indian languages including Hindi, Urdu, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Sindhi, Kannada and Telugu. He also recorded English and Persian songs. He is primarily remembered, however, for his Hindi songs, which still remain very popular in India today and also among the Indian diaspora. He dominated the Bollywood music industry from the 1950s to the 1970s along with Mukesh, Manna Dey, and Kishore Kumar. Between 1950 and 1970, Rafi was one of the most sought after singers in Bollywood. In 1965, he was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Sri award. On Thursday, July 31, 1980, Rafi died at 10:50 pm, following a massive heart attack. His last song was "Shaam phir kyun udaas hai dost" (Aas Paas), which he had recorded with Laxmikant-Pyarelal couple of days before his death. He was survived by four sons (Saeed Rafi, Khalid Rafi, Hamid Rafi, Shahid Rafi), 3 daughters (Parveen, Nasreen, Yasmin) and 18 grandchildren. Yamuna Devi Dasi was one of the very early disciples of Srila Prabhupada. Her Govindam Prayers is played in every Iskon temple. Unfortunately she left this material world last year. "Yamuna Dasi (Joan Campanella) first met Srila Prabhupada in 1966 and was initiated by him in March 1967. In 1968 she was one of six devotees who opened the first London temple. In 1970 she went to India, travelling with Srila Prabhupada's Indian sankirtana party, and served at the Calcutta, Delhi and Vrndavana temples. She has travelled widely and lived in many places, primarily writing cookbooks and teaching cooking. She currently lives at Saranagati in Canada, focusing on writing, study, teaching and the nine processes of devotional service."
