Titanic 1912 Newsreel (original)
Here is one of the original theatre newsreels that was shown to the eager public following the Titanic disaster. Although this footage is labelled up and presented to show the Titanic, the footage vessel shown is Titanic's older sister Olympic and filmed in New York during the summer of 1911. Captain Edward John Smith is seen wearing the White Star Lines summer uniform. We see views of life onboard the vessel prior to and departing from the New York return voyage. Captain Smith is seen on the bridge and Starboard bridge wings, watching the activity on the dockside and forward well-deck below him. We see passengers walking the A-Deck promanade and aft decks of Boat Deck, A Deck and B Deck. We also see views across the Poop Deck that show some of the ships telegraphs and phones on the stern docking bridge. We also get a chance to view the Boat Deck with lifeboats in position, looking from aft towards the bow. The footage then cuts to scenes of the rescue ship Carpathia, onboard the liner as crew of the small Cunarder play around for the camera man. Her Captain, Auther Rostron is seen along with young members of the crew passing information to dockside press. In all, this is a sad but historic reminder of not only the early reactions to the Titanic disaster, but also a reminder to the early days of cinamaphotography.

Titanic and Survivors - Genuine 1912 Footage
For more original Titanic videos visit the Titanic Centenary Collection in the British Pathe free film archive: www.britishpathe.com Titanic - Genuine 1912 Footage. This newsreel (without the music)would have been shown in the cinemas at the time of the disaster. Footage includes the Titanic leaving Belfast Lough for Southampton on April 2nd, 1912. Captain Smith on the Bridge of the Titanic. The video also shows various ships such the Carparthia returning from rescuing survivors. Journalists interviewing survivors. Guglielmo Marconi, the inventor of long distance radio transmission and who was credited with saving those who were saved because of his marvelous invention. Although it says this was shot on April 2nd, 2012, British Pathe think it was probably earlier. The ship still looks like work is being done to it with lots of workmen still around. The Titanic's name is in black as is other parts of the ship which ultimately ended up as white. There is also a workman's loo which can clearly be seen dangling off the left hand side of the ship - this surely would have been removed before setting sail. The Titanic - Amazing ship in 1912
The RMS Titanic was a passenger liner that struck an iceberg in the north Atlantic Ocean on her maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City, United States, and sank on 15 April 1912, resulting in the deaths of 1517 people in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. The Titanic was designed by experienced engineers, using some of the most advanced technologies and extensive safety features of the time. That she sank on her maiden voyage and that many lives were lost resulted in a media protest which led to changes in maritime law. It also made the Titanic go down in history as the "unsinkable ship" a symbol of human arrogance and the limitations of technology. The largest passenger steamship in the world at the time, the Olympic-class Royal Mail Ship RMS Titanic was owned by the White Star Line and constructed at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Ireland, UK. After setting sail for New York City on 10 April 1912 with 2223 people on board, she hit an iceberg four days into the crossing, at 11:40 pm (UTC-3) on 14 April 1912, and sank at 2:20 am on the morning of 15 April. The ship did not sail into the iceberg head-on but rather suffered a glancing blow in a manoeuvre trying to avoid it. Further the iceberg did not open her plates like a can opener but rather tore them apart in the riveted joints. The Titanic was designed to survive a head-on collision that would flood the first four of her water tight compartments or a collision ...

Villisca 1912 Axe Murders
This video is a compilation of clips- documenting the 1912 Villisca, Iowa Axe Murder House - voted one of the scariest places on Earth. Eight people, 2 adults and 6 children were all brutally butchered while sleeping in their beds - its reported the killer or "killers"- hid up inside the family's attic (while they were away at church) waited till they returned home and were all asleep- then attacked- killing all. Horrifically the murders have never been solved- many reports of haunting surround the home (including recorded EVPs and ghostly children rolling toy balls across the floor, also the opening and closing of the closet door on its own accord.-The Home has now become a popular "haunted" tourist attraction.

Chess Tactics: S. Levitsky - Frank Marshall (Breslau, 1912)
Frank James Marshall (August 10, 1877 -- November 9, 1944), was the US Chess Champion from 1909-1936, and was one of the world's strongest chess players in the early part of the 20th century. --- Stepan (Stefan) Levitsky (Levitski, Lewitzki) (25 April 1876, Serpukhov -- 21 March 1924, Glubokaya) was a Russian chess master. In 1899 he took 3rd in Moscow (All Russian Masters' Tournament, 1st RUS-ch, Mikhail Chigorin won). In 1903 he took 8th in Kiev (3rd RUS-ch, Chigorin won). In 1905/06 he tied for 8-11th in Sankt Petersburg (4th RUS-ch, Gersz Salwe won). In 1907 he took 2nd, behind Eugene Znosko-Borovsky, in St Petersburg. He lost a match to Simon Alapin (0 : 5) at St Petersburg 1907. Stepan Levitsky won at Sankt Petersburg 1911 (All-Russian Amateur Tournament). In July--August 1912, he tied for 13-14th in Breslau (18th DBS--Congress, Rubinstein and Oldrich Duras won). In August--September 1912, he took 3rd in Vilna (8th RUS-ch, Akiba Rubinstein won). In 1913 he lost a match to Alexander Alekhine (3 : 7) in Sankt Petersburg. In 1913/14, he took 13th in St Petersburg (9th RUS-ch, Alekhine and Aron Nimzowitsch won). A Night to Remember (1958) April 14, 1912
Titanic's maiden voyage is retold through the perspective of the second officer. For those looking for a good movie about the Titanic minus the love story, I highly recommend this one. Among all the Titanic movies, this one is the most historically accurate. This 1958 version shows the 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes aboard the transatlantic liner and focuses on the reactions of Titanic's bridge crew as well as the captains of the SS California and SS Carpathia. While "A Night to Remember" has a good representation of the sequence of events, Cameron's version did the sinking scene better, both visually and accuracy of the ship breaking in half. Cameo by "Q" from James Bond.
