a short clip of deep purple mk4 tommy bolin rip.
Tommy Bolin Live at the Ford Auditorium, Detroit, MI; October 5, 1976. Very good audience recording. This is an excellent sounding recording. This show captures Tommy Bolin touring in support of his second and final solo album, Private Eyes. Also on the bill this night were The Michael Stanley Band and Paris. This tour lasted only one more month before Tommy Bolin died on December 4, 1976. Off the 1975 release Private Eyes.
In my opinion one of Tommy's greatest tracks..This one taken from his first solo release 'Teaser' from 1975..With the great Glenn Hughes singing the final verse of the song, a very prophetic statement....Enjoy everyone!!

Fom the album Private Eyes.
One of my personal top 10 ever. The Teaser album was poorly produced and the intro to this song was very quiet so I've beefed it up a bit.

Thomas Richard "Tommy" Bolin (August 1, 1951 -- December 4, 1976) was an American-born guitarist who played with Zephyr (from 1969 to 1971), The James Gang (from 1973 through 1974), and Deep Purple (from 1975 to 1976). Private Eyes was recorded six months before Bolin's unexpected death, while Tommy's short ride replacing Ritchie Blackmore in the legendary Deep Purple was on the outs. The flagship cut from Private Eyes effort is the storming "Post Toastee", a bold nine-minute track which stands out as an AOR masterpiece from the wild life '70's. Other noteworthy numbers from the eight song disc include the thumping "Bustin' Out For Rosey", the cool strut of "Shake The Devil" and the smooth album closer, "You Told Me That You Loved Me". Unlike Teaser, Private Eyes was laid down with the official Tommy Bolin Band, which at that time included Norma Jean Bell, Reggie McBride, Mark Stein, and Bobby Berge. In the end Private Eyes is not quite as diverse as the Teaser LP, however the album is comprised by an exceptional set of songs, from a truly great musician. Bolin's tour for Private Eyes was his last. In his last concert dates, he opened for Peter Frampton and Jeff Beck. In his final show, he opened for Beck on December 3, 1976, and encored with a rendition of "Post Toastee." He also posed for a photo with Beck after the show. A day later, in Miami, Florida, Bolin died of a drug overdose. His remains are buried in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa. 00:00 Bustin' Out for Rosey 4:24 04:24 Sweet Burgundy 4:13 08:37 Post Toastee 9:03 17:40 Shake the Devil 3:47 21:27 Gypsy Soul 4:05 25:32 Someday, We'll Bring Our Love Home 3:05 28:37 Hello, Again 3:39 32:16 You Told Me That You Loved 5:15 Tommy Bolin - Guitars, Keyboards, Vocals, Piano Reggie McBride - Bass, Vocals Mark Stein - Keyboards, Vocals Carmine Appice - Drums on "Someday Will Bring Our Love Home" Bobby Berge - Percussion, Drums Bobbye Hall - Percussion Norma Jean Bell - Percussion, Vocals, Saxophone Del Newman - string arrangements *Tommy plays with: Patch of Blue Zephyr Energy James Gang Billy Cobham Alphonse Mouzon Moxy Deep Purple In 2010, several well known artists gathered to create a tribute album titled Mister Bolin's Late Night Revival, a compilation of 17 previously unreleased tracks written by the guitar legend. As fans of both artists know, the two talented musicians met in 1975 to work on the Deep Purple album Come Taste The Band together. Hughes had joined the band before Bolin, debuting on Purple's Burn. Seven years younger than Ritchie Blackmore, ten years younger than Jon Lord, he had made a name for himself playing with Trapeze, but accepted the invitation to join Purple and step to the upper echelon of rock stardom. He brought limber bass playing, an unusually strong self-tutored voice, and a penchant for soul music into the hard rock band. 00:00 Teaser [4:19] 04:19 Shake The Devil [3:41] 08:00 Tou Told Me That You Loved Me [5:41] 13:41 Gypsy Soul [5:44] 19:25 Alexis [4:54] 24:19 Coast To Coast [9:02] 33:21 Gettin' Tighter [8:21] 41:42 You Keep On Movin' [11:15] 52:57 Dreamer [6:11] 59:08 Your Love Is Alright [7:50] Musicians: Glenn Hughes - vocals/bass (6, 7, 8,10) Terry Brooks - keyboards, harmony vocal Ralph Patlan - guitar Robert Ware - bass Johnnie Bolin - drums Rocky Athas - guitar The 1997 Tommy Bolin Tribute thus finds one musician reclaiming his peak level of artistry, and using all of his creative powers to honor another who is no longer with us. Some pretty cool in the beginning, but the main part are the home recordings. Some of the song structures are easily recognizable, and I have added titles where applicable even though they don´t always sound exactly like they would when recorded with bands.
JAMES GANG WITH TOMMY BOLIN LIVE IN DON KIRSHNER´S ROCK CONCERT 1974 (Acervo pessoal de Rogério Santos de Oliveira)
After performing in a variety of bands since the late '60s, Bolin finally released his first solo album in 1975. Teaser is an impressive display of the guitarist's prowess and range, and is a natural progression from the previous Bolin-dominated James Gang albums Bang and Miami and his work with drummer Billy Cobham. The album features heavy doses of jazz-rock fusion (furthered by guests Jan Hammer, Dave Sanborn, and Michael Walden) in the instrumentals "Homeward Strut" and "Marching Powder," and straight-ahead rock in tracks like "The Grind." Bolin was always equally adept at subtleties, and the ballad "Dreamer" and the exotic "Savannah Woman" (with percussion from Phil Collins) represent this stylistic range here. Overshadowed historically by his guitar dynamics, Bolin's understated yet strong vocals are another selling point. Teaser is a stronger album than its one successor, the uneven Private Eyes, and survives as Bolin's signature work. Huffington Post 2014-01-29Thomas Richard "Tommy" Bolin (August 1, 1951 – December 4, 1976) was an American-born guitarist who played with Zephyr (from 1969 to 1971), The James Gang (from 1973 through 1974), and Deep Purple (from 1975 to 1976).
Tommy Bolin was born in Sioux City, Iowa and began playing in bands around the city as a youth ("A Patch of Blue" and others) before moving to Boulder, Colorado, in his late teens. He had played in a band called American Standard before joining Ethereal Zephyr, a band named after a train that ran between Denver and Chicago. When record companies became interested, the name was shortened to Zephyr. This band included Bolin on guitar, David Givens on bass, and Givens' wife Candy Givens on vocals. The band had begun to do larger venues, opening for more established acts such as Led Zeppelin. Their second album, entitled Going Back to Colorado, featured a new drummer, Bobby Berge, who would pop up from time to time in musician credits in album liner notes from Bolin's later projects.
William C. Cobham (born May 16, 1944 in Panama) is a Panamanian American jazz drummer, composer and bandleader, who permanently relocated to Switzerland during the late 1970s.
Coming to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s with trumpeter Miles Davis and then with Mahavishnu Orchestra, Allmusic's reviewer claims Cobham is "generally acclaimed as fusion's greatest drummer with an influential style that combines explosive power and exacting precision.
Born in Panama, Cobham's family moved to New York City during his early childhood. A drummer from his youth, Cobham attended New York's High School of Music and Art, graduating in 1962.
He played in a U.S. Army Band from 1965 to 1968. Following his discharge, Cobham joined an ensemble led by pianist Horace Silver for about a year, also playing or recording with saxophonist Stanley Turrentine, organist Shirley Scott, and guitarist George Benson.
Cobham branched out to jazz fusion, which blended elements of jazz, rock and roll and funk, playing and recording with the Brecker Brothers (notably in their 1970-founded group Dreams), and guitarist John Abercrombie, before recording and touring extensively with trumpeter Miles Davis. Cobham's work with Davis appears on A Tribute to Jack Johnson, among other recordings. Cobham is also one of the first drummers to play open-handed lead: a drummer that plays on a right-handed set but leads with his left hand on the hi-hat instead of crossing over with his right (and also has his ride cymbal on the left side, instead of the traditional right). He typically plays with multiple toms and double bass drums and was well known in the '70s for his large drum kits.
Halfway gone, and halfway back,
You're always dreaming' 'bout what you lack.
You're takin' your time from your busy day,
To sit by the track and watch the train roll away.
Dreamer I know what you're thinkin',
I can see it in your face.
Maybe before you were happy,
But now your thoughts aren't of this place.
You've begun to change now baby, I don't see.
Oh but I know you well and it's clear to me.
You think chains hold you here now baby, but they don't exist.
You don't have to stay mama, I won't insist.
So take the train today, and don't look back again.
Live the dreams you have, don't dwell on what has been.
Your future's brighter now, there's brighter days ahead.
Any sad farewell words, better left unsaid.
Maybe before you were happy, but now your thoughts aren't of this place.
Cool he dies on his own time,
Roarin' I won't hear your thunder.
Called each other Chinese names,
If, oh, the book just has a number.
There's a garden where the devil lurks,
Such a strange life this.
They break their backs for sweat and gold,
And all the things in which they buy.
Things that I thought were heavy loads,
I hear you got problems, feelin' sad
They say that it hurt you, it made you feel bad
Don't stop livin' cause what comes up was once down
Just stop given your love to someone else
So think of Red Skies
And clouds that drift by
And the time that we've had
In the fields of tall grass
Just think about it
I want you to lay right back down
And just live around it
And I'll give you private pleasures
And warm Spanish treasures
And time you can't measure
Tonight
So think of Red Skies
And clouds that drift by
And you'll find what I'm saying
Doesn't come from just playin'
Just think about it
I want you to lay right back down
And just live around it
I will give you deepest springs
And the sweet bluebirds will sing
And the country church bells will ring
Bustin' Out For Rosey
Well I'm bustin' out for Rosey.
'cuz she told me I'm her boy.
Yeah I fell I'm crisp and toastee,
And my soul is jumpin' for joy.
Don't ask me why I am here,
I'd rather have trouble than fear.
My whole life is havin' you near me.
See me struttin, pretty and sassin',
Slippin' and slidin' down the way,
With my Rosey, waitin' for my daddy,
And she's standin' out in the rain.
Hear me comin', hear me comin',
Keep that door unlocked for me.
See me runnin', catch me runnin',
Won't you set my sweet soul free?
I'm gettin' closer, I'm gettin' closer,
Hear my footsteps on your door.
I'm gettin' closer, gettin' closer,
Know I'm comin' back for more.
She was brown as this good earth
With eyes that flashed like lightening
When she spoke of simple quests
The words were almost frightening
She was slender as the willow
With long dark hair across her back
Which would gently shake as she laughed
About the way she conquered soldiers
She was my Spanish lover
So gracefully insane
And with no traces of shame
She was like no other
She was simple as a one word answer
And that somehow she seemed to survive
In this complex world we're all facing
She was so delightfully alive
She was brown as this good earth
With eyes that flashed like lightening
When she spoke of sinful quests
The words were almost frightening
She was my Spanish lover
So gracefully insane
And with no traces of shame
She was like no other
She was like no other
You told me that you loved me, and that ain't no lie.
No one else above me, no matter how hard you try.
Then I notice somethin' went wrong,
My love for you is much too strong.
I feel somethin' is wrong.
No matter how hard I try.
But I know my baby loves me, that ain't no lie.
She'll be thinkin' of me, done the best do or die.
Then I know somethin' went wrong,
My love for you is much too strong.
I feel somethin' is wrong.
No matter how hard I try, tears I should cry.
Then I noticed somethin' went wrong,
My love for you is much too strong.
Then I noticed somethin' went wrong,
Someday Will Bring Our Love Home
We are weary ships, lost in endless trips,
Passing in the silent ocean.
We drift on paper wings, just like the record sings,
Sailin' when we feel like it.
Someday will bring our love home
Someday will bring our love home
I can't remember when I felt so all alone
Someday will bring our love home
We are lost sailors, out of luck and favors,
Missing in the raging ocean.
Laughing midnight wine, we are the lovers of time,
When I see the sun rise
I can't help to think about you
You're as rare as the early morning light
And when I am near you
I feel it in my heart
The grateful(?) ... God must have made in you
When I see a butterfly
I can't help to think about you
You're as amazing as the wonder of life
When I touch you
I feel it in my hands
The fertile ... God made you of
I remember still
The first time we made it
You were up against the ...
... turn your face have ...
And you asked me my name
Do you know I was afraid
But after a few words
I'd never be the same
When I see the sun rise
I can't help to think about you
You are as rare as the early morning light
When I touch you
I feel it in my hands
The fertile ... God made you of
He made you of
He made you of
He made you of
He made you of
Winter time comes just a little too fast,
Summer just flies by on it's patient wings.
I'm just a fool for yesterdays,
I've seen too many things in so many ways.
At night I just sit in my room by the fire,
Lookin' out my misty window on the street below.
Too many people lookin' lost and forlorn,
Vagabonds without homes and no where else to go.
Pour me another glass of that sweet burgundy.
Maybe that will help to ease the pain
Burgundy I guess you're my only friend.
Sweet Burgundy.
Outside my window I see the deaf and the blind
Who are pondered for a moment and then left behind.
Times that I think I was all alone,
Gypsy Soul
We talked for hours of the travels
And all the beauty you had seen.
The south of France where the spring is beginning,
Sunset on the Thames from the village green.
We rolled on and on through the pages,
Of the books you'd taken from the shelf.
Unfamiliar faces and forgotten places,
Landscapes green and rich in wealth.
You've got a gypsy soul, and you love to wander.
Coast to coast to the Canadian border.
In the summer sun, yeah, yeah.
From my window you saw the ocean,
And all the changes that has been.
The south of France where the spring is beginning,
Alexis, thank you for a pleasant southern day
Spent on the levy throwin' pennies in the bay
And talkin 'bout the rich folks
On the big boats that pass that way
You were just a young girl
I just could not stay
Alexis, I can't remember how we met back then
Was on my way to Atlanta, now I'm on that road again
Not really poor, had money just not to spend
You were just a young girl, and I was in need of a friend
Alexis, you always used to talk about
Leavin your hometown, headin on south
Maybe down to New Orleans
And you wanted me to help you out
But you were just a young girl
And I was just a hobo... that had my doubts
Alexis, I did not want to... want to leave you there
Sometimes this life we lead is so unfair
I wanted to take you with me
But I did not dare
You were just a young girl and I could not pay your fare
Alexis, you always used to talk about
Leavin your hometown, headin on south
Maybe down to New Orleans
And you wanted me to help you out
But you were just a young girl
And I was just a hobo... that had my doubts
You keep on moving
Far away far away
You keep on moving
Far away far away
Everyday wheels are turning
And the cry still returning
Dawn will soon be breaking
The day has just begun
You put your arms around me
Like a circle 'round the sun
Dance across the seasons
To a place that no one knows
Cool he dies on his own time,
Roarin' I won't hear your thunder.
Called each other Chinese names,
If, oh, the book just has a number.
There's a garden where the devil lurks,
Such a strange life this.
They break their backs for sweat and gold,
And all the things in which they buy.
Things that I thought were heavy loads,
Like a Lotus in an oriental sky.
Alexis thank you for a pleasant Southern day

When I see the sun rise
I can't help to think about you
You're as rare as the early morning light
And when I am near you
I feel it in my heart
The grateful(?) ... God must have made in you
When I see a butterfly
I can't help to think about you
You're as amazing as the wonder of life
When I touch you
I feel it in my hands
The fertile ... God made you of
I remember still
The first time we made it
You were up against the ...
... turn your face have ...
And you asked me my name
Do you know I was afraid
But after a few words
I'd never be the same
When I see the sun rise
I can't help to think about you
You are as rare as the early morning light
When I touch you
I feel it in my hands
The fertile ... God made you of
He made you of
He made you of
He made you of
He made you of
And do you know you taught me the meaning of love
Brother, brother, help me please,
I'm as lonely as I can be.
All my friends are scaring me,
But if you forget me then I will leave.
Sister, sister, what can I do?
I'm in love with tootsie too.
Please excuse me if I am low,
But me feelings just have to show.
People, people, hold my hand.
Where in the hel is this promised land?
Float right past me, oh I like your style.
Seek it, seek it, seek it, seek it, you're here for a while.
Mother, mother, so good to me,
Praying just so I can be.
My father, my father, my only one,
I hope you're proud of this your son.
Savannah woman dressed in white,
Stands out of tropical rains.
She pulls her gin and tonics tight,
And curses her lonely domain.
Brazilian winds blow warm in Rio,
A white estate they call 'The Nada'.
Meant for her soul or so she says,
Hides her sadist gin made eyes.
No one knows but me how she left me so behind.
Savannah woman I could never leave you so unkind.
Snow white and with desire, that vamp from the magazine.
Cold and distant as the moon, why can't she burn like fire?
That woman's got a smile, puts you in a trance
And just one look at her, makes you wanna dance
All those dark and those red ruby lips, only a fool would pass them by
With just a hint of ruthlessness, sparklin' in her eye
She's a teaser and she's got no heart at all
She's a teaser and she'll tempt you 'til you fall
Yeah, she'll tempt ya 'til ya fall, yeah
She sips gin from a teacup, wears them fancy clothes
And somebody always knows her, no matter where she goes
She'll talk to you in riddles, that have no sense or rhyme
And if you ask her what she means, says she don't got no time
She's a teaser and she's got no heart at all
She's a teaser and she'll tempt you 'til you fall
Yeah, she'll tempt ya 'til ya fall, yeah
She's a teaser and she's got no heart at all
Yeah, she's a teaser and she'll tempt you 'til you fall
She's a teaser and she's got no heart at all
Tonight the rain is crying on my windowpane
The clock is slowly chiming its lonely refrain
Tonight the cold wind blows through the screen that you didn't close
Tonight I swear the devil is singing our song
As black as never seen, some darkness tonight
Seem that it would be better to leave than fight
All this time that we had been wrong, fate was against us all along
Tonight I swear the devil is singing our song
Tonight I swear the devil is singing our song
Every time I see you it costs me another heartache
But it 's just too late for us
I have to move along
Tonight I swear the devil
Is-a singing our song
Every time I see you it costs me another heartache
But it's just too late for us
I have to move along
Tonight I swear the devil the devil the devil the devil
Is singing our song
A cruel lonesome wind is howling through the trees
Even the dogs are barking at my knees
All this time that we have been wrong, fate was against us all along
Tonight I swear the devil is singing our song - uh
Tonight I swear the devil is singing our song - can't you hear him singing baby?
Tonight I swear the devil is singing our song - oh oo oh
Tonight I swear the devil is singing our song
I swear
I can hear him laughing at me, baby - ha ha ha
Now, you's a whiskey-headed woman
Now, an' you stay drunk all the time
Now, you's a whiskey-headed woman
Now, an' you stay drunk all the time
Now, if you don't stop drinkin'
Now, I believe you're goin' to lose yo' mind
Well now, ev'rytime I see
You's at some whiskey joint
Standin' at the back do'
Axkin' for another half-a-pint
'Cause you's a whiskey-headed woman
Now, an' you stay drunk all the time
Now if you don't stop drinkin'
I believe you're goin' to go stone blind
Well now, an' I took you out the street, baby
When you didn't have no place to stay
You ain't actin', nothin' but a fool
Doggin' me 'round this-a-way
'Cause you's a whiskey-headed woman
Now, an' you stay drunk all the time
Now, if you don't stop drinkin'
I believe you goin' lose yo' mind
Well now, ev'rytime I meet ya, baby
You walkin' up an' down the street
Grinin',' laughin' an' talkin' with the most
Ev'ry man you meet
'Cause you's a whiskey-headed woman
Now, an' you stay drunk all the time
Now, an' if you don't stop drinkin'
I'm sitting back and I'm thinkin' about,
When you left your only home.
Your note said you went to Charleston,
But I know you went to New Mexico.
You left behind a dead father,
A sick mother and 4 younger kids,
Now you're all ready for rich lovers,
May the Father in Heaven forgive!
So I'll keep waiting for that train,
To bring you back to me...
Even if our love could never be,
I'll be Standin' In The Rain.
Oh, whoa, whoa, yeah, yeah.
I've waited so long to see you,
Your ivory fingers and toes.
Curly Hair and Lashes,
And the cheek of a red velvet rose.
Pink lace and satin dresses,
Will be waitin' here for you.
Pretty shoes and bonnets,
And a "Love, From ME to YOU!"
So I'll keep waiting for that train,
To bring you back to me.
Even if our love could never be,
I'll be Standin' In The Rain.
Even if our love could never be,
I'll be Standin' In The Rain.
[Tommy Bolin Guitar Solo]
So I'll keep waiting for that train,
To bring you back to me.
Even if our love could never be,
I'll be Standin' In The Rain.
Even if our love could never, never be,
I'll be Standin' In The Rain.
Even if our love could never be,
I'll be Standin' In The Rain.
Unh! Unh,
Unh! Unh
Unh, Unh
Unh Unh
Unh Unh.
Unh! Unh,
Unh! Unh
Unh, Unh
Unh Unh
Unh Unh.
I'll keep Standin'
Take your empty headed stare
Give it to the Stars
Take your lean 'n hungry love
Take your lonely Heart
and Give it to someone
Who's got time to care
I don't think that you'll go under
You're just tryin' to raise some thunder
Ain't Got No Time for Trouble
I got plenty of my own
Ain't got no time for trouble
I got plenty of my own
Ain't got no time for trouble
All ya do is sit and moan
Ain't got no time for trouble
I got plenty of my own
I'm so busy drownin'
There is no way
I could bouy (pull) you up
I'm so busy drownin'
There is no way
I could bouy you up
I don't think that you'll go under
You're just tryin' to raise some thunder
Ain't Got No Time for Trouble
I got plenty of my own
Ain't got no time for trouble
I got plenty of my own
Ain't got no time for trouble
All ya do is sit and moan
Well my mind has been overflowin'
'bout some things that don't seem right.
And my gun is cocked and loaded,
I hope I get me some sleep tonight.
Well I don't know what went wrong,
It seems like nuthin' is right.
Well I don't know what went wrong,
I hope I get me some sleep tonight.
So take it nice and easy,
Leave the coals in the pit.
Don't let your mind post-toastee,
Like a lot of my friends did.
Just keep me out of L.A.,
Things are crazy out there.
From people that I been meetin',
Shake The Devil
You were born with a bad disposition,
And a heart as cold as ice.
Your tounge is sharp as a razor,
It's cut me more than twice.
Shake the Devil. Shake the Devil.
I believe you could shake the devil,
You could shake him all night.
Standing face to face with the devil,
I saw you sitting across the room
By a sailor with a tattoo'd arm
Drinkin' scotch like it was two cents plain
That's when I knew you weren't from the farm
You're No Angel, that's easy to see
You're no angel, yeah, yeah, yeah
You're no angel, but that's alright with me
Yes, that's alright with me
Every time I see you wearin' something new
Always dressed in the latest styles
You only buy from the fancy shops
Snakeskin, lame', crocodile
Penthouse apartment, yours is the best in town
You got a chauffeur and a butler, too
You love to stay in bed 'til half past two
How your neighbors must talk about you
You're No Angel, that's easy to see
Didn't get those Diamonds workin' 9 to 6
You're No Angel, but that's alright with me
Well my mind has been overflowin'
'bout some things that don't seem right.
And my gun is cocked and loaded,
I hope I get me some sleep tonight.

Just keep me out of L.A.,

From people that I been meetin',
This baggage handcuffed to my wrists
I drag it everywhere I go
Sometimes I fight you with my fists
But if I knew which way was home
That's where I'd go, if I knew which way was home
Before the karma cut me free
I'm sick of my own company
Sometimes I miss the boat
Most times I miss my home
Thats where I'd go, if I knew which way was home
Run down ghost trail, no chance for love
No sign of life, just wild dogs howlin' in the night
Oh, that's what I like
Before the karma cut me loose
Would bring my whiskey and my water
Sometimes I get them blues
Though I know I shouldn't oughta
Thats where I'd go, if I knew which way was home
Run down ghost trail, no chance for love
No sign of life, just wild dogs howlin' in the night
Run down ghost trail, no chance for love
No sign of life, just wild dogs howlin' in the night
Run down ghost trail, no chance for love

Snow white and with desire, that vamp from the magazine.
Slowly that scent reaches me,
The perfume you wear I can't forget.
Floating so lightly 'pon the air,
Just like the smoke from a cigarette.
I just turned around and there you were,
Returning almost faster than you'd gone.
My, but times been good to you,
Sleek and graceful as a swan.
And by the way, hello again.
I'm so pleased to have your company.
We'll count the stars under misty sky,
And watch them fall into the sea.
Your voice so whispers soft and smooth,
Telling me tales of a human cloud.
Who walked a thousand miles,
Just to touch their ladies gowns.
A noble thought, there's no doubt,
And I must confess I can't compete.
Clouds that walked a thousand miles,
I hear you got problems, feelin' sad
They say that it hurt you, it made you feel bad
Don't stop livin' cause what comes up was once down
Just stop given your love to someone else
So think of Red Skies
And clouds that drift by
And the time that we've had
In the fields of tall grass
Just think about it
I want you to lay right back down
And just live around it
And I'll give you private pleasures
And warm Spanish treasures
And time you can't measure
Tonight
So think of Red Skies
And clouds that drift by
And you'll find what I'm saying
Doesn't come from just playin'
Just think about it
I want you to lay right back down
And just live around it
I will give you deepest springs
And the sweet bluebirds will sing
And the country church bells will ring
For you

No one else above me, no matter how hard you try.
Then I notice somethin' went wrong,
My love for you is much too strong.
I feel somethin' is wrong.
No matter how hard I try.
But I know my baby loves me, that ain't no lie.
She'll be thinkin' of me, done the best do or die.
Then I know somethin' went wrong,
My love for you is much too strong.
I feel somethin' is wrong.
No matter how hard I try, tears I should cry.
Then I noticed somethin' went wrong,
My love for you is much too strong.
Then I noticed somethin' went wrong,
So babe, I'll end this song.
I walked all day tryin to find me work,
I must have knocked on one hundred doors.
Would have swallowed my pride for some money,
And be satisfied sweepin' the floors.
Mr. Government-man.
Mr. Silver-and-gold.
Mr. Bustin'-my-ass.
Mr. All-you-can-hold.
I spent last night a sleep on a park bench,
'til a cop came and moved me along.
Told him I wasn't botherin' nobody,
Yes he told me to go.
Everywhere, I get the same kind of answer,
Not now or maybe then.
Well me time is runnin' out on me people, yes me people.
If you're down and without a friend.
