Braehead Clan vs Fife Flyers 23/11/13 - EIHL 2013/14
Match commentary by Slapshot Scotland's Craig Anderson. Plenty of goals for the fans to enjoy here as Clan recovered from an early 2-goal deficit to pick up two home points in both league and cup against a Flyers side that had backup goaltender Blair Daly between the pipes due to an injury to starter Kevin Regan. A great start for the visitors from Kirkcaldy as Jordan Fulton fired them ahead after only 47 seconds and even more for the large travelling support to cheer at 6.02 as debutant Kyle Haines made it 2-0 on the powerplay. Clan hit back quickly from that nervous start and pulled one back via the stick of Lee Esders at 8.22 to end the first period scoring. The hosts took the game to their opponents in period two and levelled at 27.05 with a shot from Ed McGrane and then in a late scoring burst took the lead for the first time at 36.17 on the powerplay with Neil Trimm firing home. Flyers were far from finished however and at 37.16 Tim Hartung was on target for 3-3 before Clan took the lead again at 38.02 with their second powerplay strike of the game from Joe Cullen. From the opening face off in period three the gloves were off resulting in Chris Frank of Clan and Matt Nickerson of Flyers sitting for fighting calls but it was Clan starting to dominate the play now and a quick double saw them 6-3 ahead. First up was Shane Lust at 45.14 and 58 seconds later Cullen fired in his second of the game to see his side in control. Flyers had a glimmer of hope when Haines scored his second on the powerplay at 51.22 but that was as close as the visitors were to come with Tristan Harper putting the game to bed when scoring into the empty net with 57 seconds remaining. Braehead Clan vs Belfast Giants 28/12/13 - EIHL 2013/14
Match commentary by Craig Anderson. Referee cam by Visual Impact Scotland and kindly worn by Scott Dalgleish. Braehead Clan 5 Belfast Giants 6 The top two team in the standings produced an epic encounter that saw Clan break their own crowd record and sell out Braehead Arena for the first ever time with 3576 in the building but it was Giants who continued their best winning run of the season; now seven in a row, as they skate 11 points clear at the top. A whirlwind start by both teams but it was Clan who hit the front with a shot by skipper Ash Goldie at 5.57. Giants missed out on three powerplay opportunities but late in the period just after Clan had killed a 3 on 5 from Giants, Dustin Whitecotton levelled at 18.06. Period two was a goal fest with defences posted missing. Giants scored twice in 22 seconds to lead 3-1 with Kevin Saurette at 21.38 and Gareth Roberts at 22.00 netting. Clan called a time out and after Giants had a goal disallowed for a man in the crease the hosts were back in the game at 23.29 with Kevin Bergin on target. It was 3-3 at 26.06 as Tristan Harper slid the puck past Stephen Murphy but back came the visitors and at 27.12 Craig Peacock edged his side ahead again. This remarkable period turned again as Clan hit a quick double with Bergin completing a hat trick with counters at 35.45 and 37.27. The former also saw the ejection of Giants' Robby Sandrock for abuse. Even then the drama continued with Clan having the puck in the net a sixth time only for it to be ruled off for the net being dislodged. Effectively penalty problems at the start of the third period killed Clan's chances as on a 5 on 3 advantage Saurette scored his second at 44.35 and then again on the powerplay Jeffrey Szwez fired in what turned out to be the game winner at 48.15. Plenty of near things at both ends after that but a breathless night ended with Giants once again finding a way to win -- the sign of champions? Braehead moved four points clear in second place with this their third straight win in the league. As for Hull this was their fifth straight loss on the road. With Kyle Jones still out injured Mike Will lined up against his GB squad member Ben Bowns. The game was effectively over after the first period as the home side built up a 5-1 lead. The visitors opened the scoring at 4.40 with a powerplay goal from Jereme Tendler. Then the Clan hit them for five with a double from Joel Champagne at 6.11 and a powerplay goal at 9.56. This was added to with a strike from Joe Cullen at 12.33 just under two minutes later Kevin Bergin added a fourth. The hosts went nap at 17.08 with a goal from Tristan Harper to lead 5-1 at the first break. Lee Esders 37.36 Kevin Bergin with his second of the game at 39.01 put the home team into seventh heaven. They then let their guard drop and the Stingrays got their second of the game from player/coach Sylvain Cloutier at 39.14. The visitors got a further two goals from Carl Lauzon at 45.18 and then a powerplay goal from Guillaume Doucet at 48.25 to trail by three. However, that was as close as they were to get as Neil Trimm netted the final goal of the game at 56.33 to completed the scoring on the night. Braehead Clan vs Fife Flyers 17/01/14 - EIHL 2013/14
Match commentary by Slapshot Scotland's Craig Anderson. Braehead Clan 4 Fife Flyers 2 Both teams haven't had the best of luck lately with both of them winning only once in their last seven league games. In a game that flowed from end to end throughout the victory was there for either team to take. After forty minutes of play and with nothing between the teams, a third goal from the Clan and then an insurance goal at 59.52 gave two much needed points. There was nothing between the teams after the opening session with the teams sharing a goal between them. The home side opened the scoring with a strike from Shane Lust at 5.30. They looked as though they would hold onto this lead however the visitors restored equality at 18.06 with a goal from Derek Roehl. The teams still couldn't be separated in the second period, the Clan went in front for the second time with a strike from Tristan Harper at 24.08. However, the Flyers came back once again with a goal at 29.11 on the powerplay from Ned Lukacevic. The third session was much the same as the first two sessions with neither team given anything away. The Clan took the lead for the third time as Kevin Bergin fired in with nine minute remaining. It was still there for either team, however it was the home team who collected the points as Joel Champagne netted the insurance goal with 8 second remaining. Braehead Clan vs Hull Stingrays 19/01/14 - EIHL 2013/14
Match commentary by Craig Anderson Braehead Clan 3 Hull Stingrays 0 For the first time in six attempts Clan finally found a way to unlock Stingrays, with goaltender Kyle Jones making 22 saves for his EIHL season leading fourth shutout of the season. Clan move up to third in the league standings with this win while Stingrays record breaking club winning run was ended at six games. Both sides were attacking in the opening period but defences were on top with few clear scoring chances created, Clan did take one of theirs however to go in ahead with a strike at 17.24 from Matt Towe breaking the deadlock. Period two saw Clan create more and better opportunities but once again it was a late counter that doubled the home lead with Shane Lust getting the final touch at 38.21. When Joel Champagne fired in a third for the hosts at 46.53 there was no way back for Stingrays and it was a matter of Clan protecting Jones on the way to his shutout with one late Stingrays powerplay chance killed off successfully to get the job done. Braehead Clan vs Fife Flyers 21/12/13 - EIHL 2013/14
Match commentary by Craig Anderson. Braehead Clan 5 Fife Flyers 0 In a hard fought encounter there was nothing between the teams until Braehead scored 3 in 70 seconds at the start of the second period to take control of the game. Up until that point they had lead with a shorthanded goal scored in the first period. This result was sweet revenge for the Clan after their 7-6 loss in Fife last Saturday. It was also a third shutout of the season for Kyle Jones his second against Fife. The hosts lead with the only goal of the first period as Ed McGrane scored whilst his team were shorthanded at 18.33. Clan had the better of the second period as they created more of the chances. However, despite their dominance they were unable to add to their first period marker and the period ended goalless. Nobody anticipated the start to the third period, with 46 seconds on the clock Ash Goldie doubled the home side's advantage. Before Fife had a chance to regroup Joel Champagne added a third at 41.12 and then McGrane on the powerplay with his second at 41.56 gave the hosts a four goal lead. The scoring was completed by Matt Towe as he fired in the fifth at 53.43. Braehead Clan v Nottingham Panthers - 1/9/13 - Aladdin Cup
The Braehead Clan were crowned the 2013 Aladdin Cup champions last night defeating the Nottingham Panthers 5-4 after a penalty shoot out. In what was an entertaining affair, it was the Panthers who were first to strike with Jonathan Weaver putting the visitors ahead. The lead didn't last long though as Nathan Moon took advantage of a well-worked powerplay to equalise the game. Jonathan Boxill, in his first ever game against EIHL opposition managed to knock in a rebound from Mike Will to put the Panthers 2-1 up, heading into the first intermission. The second period was largely controlled by Panthers, but it was the Clan who scored the first goal of the period, this time with Ash Goldie getting the goal. Panthers once again regained the lead through Chris Capraro. The game stepped up a notch in the third as Nottingham's lead was extended to 2 before a dramatic late comeback by the Clan saw the game tied up 4-4 with goals coming in the last 10 minutes from Ed McGrane and Julien Corriveau. With no goals in overtime it went to penalty shots. Ed McGrane and Ash Goldie converted their penalty shots and when Mike Will saved Stephen Lee's penalty shot, the crowd erupted as the Clan were crowned 2013 Aladdin Cup champions following a rollercoaster game.- published: 02 Sep 2013

Braehead Clan v Les Gothiques d'Amiens 31/8/13 - Aladdin Cup
The new look Braehead Clan got off to a flying start after defeating French Side Amiens 5-2 at the Braehead arena in front of a 2,340 crowd. Nathan Moon got the season rolling after putting the Clan up by a goal with 2 minutes left in the first period, a period which was dominated by the Clan, out-shooting the French side by 17 to 4. The second period saw Amiens tie the game up with former Nottingham Panther, Marty Gascon getting the goal. Shortly after, Sammy Zajac and Danik Bouchard dropped the gloves in what was a great bout. The fight seemed to shift the momentum to the Clan as two quick fire goals from Ash Goldie and Joel Champagne put the Clan 3-1 up. Not long after a superb bit of passing and team play put Ash Goldie on a 1 on 1 which he exquisitely finished off to extend the Clan lead to 3. Prior to the second period ending, Amiens managed to get back in the game with Romain Bault netting the French side's second goal. At the start of the third period, Nathan Moon came out the penalty and landed a landryesq hit on Amien's number 6 Danik Bouchard. In the end, the third period was a much more even affair with both sides getting seven shots on goal. Mike Will was strong in nets and with the Amiens goalie pulled, Nathan Moon managed to cap off a good performance with an empty net goal. The final shots on goal were 44 for the Clan and 17 for Amiens. Braehead Clan will now face the Nottingham Panthers, 2012/13 Grand Slam Champions, for the Aladdin Cup title! However, two third period goals from Braehead just over two minutes apart saw them get over the finish line to collect the points. Dundee will have a chance of revenge as the two teams player one another again tomorrow on Tayside. The hosts went in front at 9.39 with a goal from Neil Trimm they doubled their lead as Joe Cullen was on target at 16.18 to give them a two goal lead at the first break. Inside the first minute of the second session the visitors pulled one back as Sam McCluskey scored on the powerplay. A second powerplay goal at 23.35 from Stars player/coach Jeff Hutchins got his team back on level terms. The Clan regained the lead at 30.30 as Ash Goldie fired home. They managed to hold onto this one goal lead to the end of the second period. The Stars were level for the second time in the game at 43.55 with a strike from Jerry Pollastrone. Braehead Clan vs Dundee Stars 12/10/13 - EIHL 2013/14
Braehead Clan 5 Dundee Stars 1 Having been on the road for more than a month the Braehead Clan entertained league leaders Dundee Stars. And what a home coming it was for the home team as they beat high flying Stars. After a goalless first period the Clan hit three in the second to set the tone for the rest of the game. Despite the opening period ending goalless it was both goaltenders who kept it that way with some outstanding saves. Dundee did have the puck in the net at 11.21 but it was washed out for high sticks. Shortly after this it looked as though they had opened the scoring but the puck was deemed not to have crossed the line. On a delayed penalty call Ed McGrane opened the scoring for the Clan at 22.35. They then added a second at 34.11 as Kevin Bergin fired home. Heading towards the end of the second period the Clan went on the powerplay and with 58 seconds to go ex-Star man Tristan Harper made it 3 nil. At 45.16 McGrane netted his second of the game to effectively end the game as a contest. Kyle Jones lost the chance of a shutout when the visitors netted what was no more than a consolation goal at 53.44 from the stick of Nikita Kashirsky. Having lost that goal the Clan went up the other end and Bergin netted his second of the game at 54.53 to end the scoring on the night. Braehead Clan vs Hull Stingrays 11/01/14 - EIHL 2013/14
Commentary by Slapshot Scotland's Craig Anderson. Referee-Cam supplied by Visual Impact Scotland. Braehead Clan 3 Hull Stingrays 4 (PS) Clan went into this one without a win in their last five games against the Stingrays and at the end of this one it was six games without a win after they lost out on penalty shots. They were a goal to the good with two minutes remaining and the visitors levelled it with 62 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime and eventually penalties. It was the Stingrays who netted the only goal of the opening session as marksman Guillaume Doucet was on target at 6.08. Whilst at the other end goaltender Bowns put up the blockers. The teams traded goals in the second stanza, Neil Trimm got the home side level at 34.52 and then Bobby Chamberlain fired home to cancel that marker out at 37.44 to give the visitors a slender one goal lead going into the third period. With only two seconds on the clock in the third period Chris Frank (Clan) and Jeff Smith (Stingrays) went toe to toe and ended up in the bin on 5 minute fighting majors. Eighteen seconds later the game was all square for the second time as Matt Haywood scored for the Clan. The home side went in front for the first time at 57.35 with a powerplay goal from Kenton Smith. They failed to hold onto this lead and Carl Lauzon got the goal that took the game into overtime at 58.58. The overtime period failed to find a winner and in the penalty shootout Lauzon was the only player to find the target as the Stingrays picked up the extra point.
