Meet the Author: Kate DiCamillo
After college, Kate wrote mostly short stories for adults, submitted them, and collected hundreds of rejection letters. During a long, cold Minnesota winter, Kate felt homesick and wrote a story for kids that took place in the warm South. That story, Because of Winn-Dixie, was not only published; it received a prestigious Newbery Honor. When The Tale of Despereaux won the Newbery Medal, Kate solidified her place as one of today's most popular authors for young people.

Kate DiCamillo Video for CHARLOTTE'S WEB 60th Anniversary
Sixty years ago, on October 15, 1952, EB White's Charlotte's Web was published. It's gone on to become one of the most beloved children's books of all time. To celebrate this milestone, the renowned Newbery Medalist Kate DiCamillo has written a heartfelt and poignant tribute to the book that is itself a beautiful translation of White's own view of the world—of the joy he took in the change of seasons, in farm life, in the miracles of life and death, and, in short, the glory of everything. We are proud to include Kate DiCamillo's foreword in the 60th anniversary editions of this cherished classic. Available 4.24.12 in hardcover, paperback, and paper-over-board Share your love for the book at www.facebook.com

Kate DiCamillo
Kate DiCamillo's success did not happen overnight. For roughly a decade, before the public knew Because of Winn-Dixie or The Tale of Despereaux, DiCamillo worked odd jobs, submitted manuscripts, and collected nearly 400 rejection letters. "I decided a long time ago," DiCamillo says, "that I didn't have to be talented. I just had to be persistent." See full interview at www.readingrockets.org

Bink and Gollie by Kate DiCamillo & Alison McGhee Book Trailer
bit.ly www.binkandgollie.com Written by Kate DiCamillo & Alison McGhee Illustrated by Tony Fucile 9780763632263 Meet Bink and Gollie, two precocious little girls--one tiny, one tall, and both utterly irrepressible. Setting out from their super-deluxe tree house and powered by plenty of peanut butter (for Bink) and pancakes (for Gollie), they share three comical adventures involving painfully bright socks, an impromptu trek to the Andes, and a most unlikely marvelous companion. No matter where their roller skates take them, at the end of the day they will always be the very best of friends. Full of quick-witted repartee, this brainchild of Newbery Medalist Kate DiCamillo and award-winning author Alison McGhee is a hilarious ode to exuberance and camaraderie, imagination and adventure, brought to life through the delightfully kinetic images of Tony Fucile. In a brilliant collaboration, best-selling authors Kate DiCamillo and Alison McGhee, along with acclaimed illustrator Tony Fucile, introduce an outrageously funny pair of friends.
