Just by looking at an eye,you cannot determine whether it is normal or Myopic.
A normal,healthy eye does not need glasses to see clearly.Light rays enter the eye and end up on the retina,then go through the optical nerve to the brain.
A myopic,or nearsighted,eye is elongated,which causes the light rays to get focused on a point in front of the retina,causing distance vision to become blurry.
Myopia is easily corrected with glasses.When a nearsighted person puts on his or her glasses,the myopic eye can see clearly at all distances.

Myopia (Short Sightedness)
Myopia results if the lens curvature is too great or the entire eyeball becomes elongated. Light rays entering the eye are refracted more than is necessary. Consequently light is focused in front of the retina. The image perceived is thus blurred. The condition is called short-sightedness as objects near the eye are clearer than those further away. Myopia can be corrected by placing a concave lens in front of the eye. The surface of the concave lens refracts light rays in such a way that the rays diverge slightly from their original path. The lens of the myopic eye now refracts the diverged light rays in to focus on the retina.

Data indicates that nearly half of the world will be nearsighted (myopic) by the year 2050. Are we taking this health concern seriously enough? Dr. Kevin Chan is the Center Director of Treehouse Eyes, the only specialty medical practice in the U.S. that is dedicated exclusively to myopia management for children. Dr. Chan obtained his undergraduate degree in Pharmacology at Western University in London, ON, Canada. He later graduated with distinguished dual degrees of Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) and Masters of Vision Science (M.S.) from the New England College of Optometry, Boston, MA. Dr. Chan is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry; and is a guest contributor in the Review of Optometry. Myopia
Myopia, also known as near-sightedness and short-sightedness, is a condition of the eye where the light that comes in does not directly focus on the retina but in front of it, causing the image that one sees when looking at a distant object to be out of focus. It does not affect focus when looking at a close object.
When used colloquially, 'myopia' can also refer to a view on or way of thinking about something which is—by extension of the medical definition—hyper-focused and fails to include a larger context beyond the focus.
Myopia is most commonly corrected through the use of corrective lenses, such as glasses or contact lenses. It may also be corrected by refractive surgery, though there are cases of associated side effects. The corrective lenses have a negative optical power (i.e. have a net concave effect) which compensates for the excessive positive diopters of the myopic eye. Negative diopters are generally used to describe the severity of the myopia, as this is the value of the lens to correct the eye. High-degree myopia, or severe myopia, is defined as -6 diopters or worse.

Myopia results if the lens curvature is too great or the entire eyeball becomes elongated. Light rays entering the eye are refracted more than is necessary. Consequently light is focused in front of the retina. The image perceived is thus blurred. The condition is called short-sightedness as objects near the eye are clearer than those further away. Myopia can be corrected by placing a concave lens in front of the eye. The surface of the concave lens refracts light rays in such a way that the rays diverge slightly from their original path. The lens of the myopic eye now refracts the diverged light rays in to focus on the retina.

Just by looking at an eye,you cannot determine whether it is normal or Myopic.
A normal,healthy eye does not need glasses to see clearly.Light rays enter the eye and end up on the retina,then go through the optical nerve to the brain.
A myopic,or nearsighted,eye is elongated,which causes the light rays to get focused on a point in front of the retina,causing distance vision to become blurry.
Myopia is easily corrected with glasses.When a nearsighted person puts on his or her glasses,the myopic eye can see clearly at all distances.

Data indicates that nearly half of the world will be nearsighted (myopic) by the year 2050. Are we taking this health concern seriously enough? Dr. Kevin Chan is the Center Director of Treehouse Eyes, the only specialty medical practice in the U.S. that is dedicated exclusively to myopia management for children. Dr. Chan obtained his undergraduate degree in Pharmacology at Western University in London, ON, Canada. He later graduated with distinguished dual degrees of Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) and Masters of Vision Science (M.S.) from the New England College of Optometry, Boston, MA. Dr. Chan is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry; and is a guest contributor in the Review of Optometry. Myopia
Myopia, also known as near-sightedness and short-sightedness, is a condition of the eye where the light that comes in does not directly focus on the retina but in front of it, causing the image that one sees when looking at a distant object to be out of focus. It does not affect focus when looking at a close object.
When used colloquially, 'myopia' can also refer to a view on or way of thinking about something which is—by extension of the medical definition—hyper-focused and fails to include a larger context beyond the focus.
Myopia is most commonly corrected through the use of corrective lenses, such as glasses or contact lenses. It may also be corrected by refractive surgery, though there are cases of associated side effects. The corrective lenses have a negative optical power (i.e. have a net concave effect) which compensates for the excessive positive diopters of the myopic eye. Negative diopters are generally used to describe the severity of the myopia, as this is the value of the lens to correct the eye. High-degree myopia, or severe myopia, is defined as -6 diopters or worse.
