National Geographic Americas Hardest Prisons-Stateville http://1-inmate-locator.blogspot.com
Visit tinyurl.com to learn dirty street fighting moves that gangs, thugs and felons don't want you to know! Not to be confused with Joliet Correctional Center or Statesville, North Carolina. Stateville Correctional Center is a maximum security state prison for men in Crest Hill, Illinois, USA.[1] History Opened in 1925, Stateville was built to accommodate 1506 inmates. Parts of the prison were designed according to the panopticon concept proposed by the British philosopher and prison reformer, Jeremy Bentham. Stateville's "F-House" cellhouse, commonly known as a "roundhouse," has a panopticon layout which features an armed tower in the center of an open area surrounded by several tiers of cells. F-House was the only remaining "roundhouse" still in use in the United States in the 1990s.[2] [edit] Execution site The Stateville Correctional Center was one of three sites in which executions were carried out by electrocution in Illinois. Between 1928 and 1962, the electric chair was used 13 times at Stateville, including the state's first electrocutions on December 15, 1928 of three convicted murderers.[3] The state's other electrocutions were carried out at the Menard Correctional Center in Chester and at the Cook County Jail in Chicago. When the method was changed to lethal injection, Stateville was the only site where executions were carried out until 1998 when death row was relocated to the Tamms Correctional Center. [edit] Current use Today the prison holds an average of ...

World's Weirdest Freaks In The Ocean - National Geographic [HD]
Dive deep into the realm of creepy aquatic creatures to uncover the world's most bizarre water-dwelling tenants. Among them, a fish with a transparent head shows off everything it's got. Hermaphrodite flatworms battle to determine which among them will be male or female. A master-of-disguise octopus camouflages itself as a rock, a plant and even as a snake, to capture prey or elude pursuit. A lizard literally walks on water, while a fish "walks" on dry land to find a mate, and that's just for starters. National Geographic I do not own the copyright to this video. I did not make or produce this. For entertainment purposes only.

National Geographic Apocalypse The Rise of Hitler 1of2 Becoming Hitler
Apocalypse: The Rise of Hitler Infamous for his crimes against humanity, Hitler's rise to power was unexpected and devastating. But how could a political party so intolerant gain so much power under one man? Using historical newly colourised and impactful footage, Apocalypse: The Rise of Hitler is a two-part documentary which takes a remarkable look into the Nazis' ascent, exploring Hitler's path from mediocre student and failed artist to totalitarian dictator. 1) Becoming Hitler Documentary charting the dictator's rise to power, from his beginnings as a struggling artist in Vienna to his eventual demise in Berlin. The first episode focuses on Hitler's formative years and how, when he returned home from the First World War, his nationalistic diatribes were largely ignored by the public, until the 1929 economic crisis put him and his ideas in the spotlight.

National Geographic - Strange Days on Planet Earth - Part 1 of 4 - Invaders
Around the globe, scientists are racing to solve a series of mysteries. Unsettling transformations are sweeping across the planet, and clue by clue, investigators around the world are assembling a new picture of Earth, discovering ways that seemingly disparate events are connected. Crumbling houses in New Orleans are linked to voracious creatures from southern China. Vanishing forests in Yellowstone are linked to the disappearance of wolves. An asthma epidemic in the Caribbean is linked to dust storms in Africa. Scientists suspect we have entered a time of global change swifter than any human being has ever witnessed. Where are we headed? What can we do to alter this course of events? National Geographic's Strange Days on Planet Earth, premiering in Spring 2005 on PBS, explores these questions. Drawing upon research being generated by a new discipline, Earth System Science (ESS), the series aims to create an innovative type of environmental awareness. By revealing a cause and effect relationship between what we as humans do to the Earth and what that in turn does to our environment and ecosystems, the series creates a new sense of environmental urgency. Award-winning actor, writer and director Edward Norton (Primal Fear, American History X, Italian Job) hosts the series. A dedicated environmental activist, Norton has a special interest in providing solar energy to low income families. Each of the four one-hour episodes is constructed as a high-tech detective story, with ...

Sky Gazers
Make sure to watch this full-screen with the sound on! Featured on the National Geographic News: http://newswatch.nationalgeographic.com/2012/04/03/new-starry-time-lapse-a-tribute-to-sky-watchers/
The evening twilight gently fades in to darkness. Clouds begin to scatter away and I'm under an ocean of twinkling stars. Another night of pure enjoyment and cosmic adventures. The night sky is perhaps the most enchanting love one can ever find!
This timelapse production is a tribute to all skygazers around the world who enjoy exploring the night sky with their telescopes. I'm happy to release this in April 2012 in celebration of the Global Astronomy Month (www.gam-awb.org), an international program of Astronomers Without Borders in partnership with world-wide astronomy centers and clubs.
I made the footage and images between 2007 and 2011 in various locations in Iran, La Palma (Canary Islands), Austria, Germany, and Nepal. Some of the sequences are made during star parties, and observing competitions such as Messier Marathon where a large group of amateur astronomers observe the night sky together.
The music is made for Sky Gazers, a courtesy of my good friends Ali Raini & Max Pfetscher of Tonelabs (www.tonelabs.com).
This video was not possible to produce without the collaboration of the following individuals and organizations: Oshin Zakarian (www.dreamview.net), Amir Abolfath (www.torgheh.ir), Gernot Meiser (www.mobile-sternwarte.de), Roque de los Muchachos Observatory on La Palma (www.iac.es/gabinete/orm/indice.html), Astronomical Society of Iran Amateur Committee (www.asiac.ir), Asemane Shab (Night Sky) astronomy center in Tehran (www.telescope.ir), Nepal Astronomical Society (www.astronomy-nepal.blogspot.com), Gahberg Observatory and Salzkammergut Astronomical Association in Austria (www.astronomie.at), and the students at my practical astronomy classes (Astro-heirat).

Rev. In Jin Moon's Lovin' LLM Sermon, August 7, 2011
Sermon Notes, August 7, 2011
In Jin Moon
1. In Jin Nim greeted everyone. (The applause was especially enthusiastic – with all the middle school camp kids in the audience). She just got back from Las Vegas at two o'clock this morning. True Parents (True Parents) send us their greetings!
True Parents at Hoon Dok Hae in Las Vegas, August 6, 2011
2. In Jin Nim reported to True Parents about the WFWP 19th annual conference -- they were delighted to hear about it. Congratulations to the WFWP. In Jin Nim recognized Angelika Selle (President) and the team that did such a phenomenal job. The conference highlighted the beauty of women from all around the world who came to discuss how to unlock the power and beauty of relationships. In Jin Nim had the honor of being the keynote speaker at one of the morning plenary sessions. To come together in the spirit of the feminine and in the celebration of the feminine and discuss amongst themselves how they can be the agent of change to usher in the new millennium. It was an incredibly powerful and profoundly moving experience for In Jin Nim. In Jin Nim could not attend the gala in the evening which she heard was a great success (she had to fly out to Las Vegas to report to True Parents) – with lovely dancers and a comedian who brought down the roof. True Parents and (especially) True Mother were delighted to hear that the WFWP had completed its 19th conference
3. Whenever In Jin Nim visits True Parents she always is so grateful – realizing what an incredible time we are living in. She likes to say that this is the time of the breaking news. Jesus Christ brought the good news – truly helping all of humanity to understand the meaning of what it is to truly love one another and encouraging women to live an inspired and true life. But now is the time of the breaking news because now we are not only talking about understanding and substantiating and applying true love and true life in our lives but really coming to substantiate the true lineage of God – grafting on to the heavenly lineage and becoming one family under God. So – it is an incredibly exciting time for all of us here working in the Ministry
4. As we think about each Sunday and what topics and issues will be discussed – they (Lovin' Life team) are always tickled pink when they realize that so much of the inspiration comes from the enthusiasm of the young people which they show to the Lovin' Life Ministry every Sunday – and enthusiasm that is shared all around the country in 100 different satellite locations across America. "We know that when we can see and experience the inspired youth, truly encouraged in the spirit of true love – wanting to build that ideal family, society, nation, and world, we know that it is not just a dream that we are dealing with, when we think or ponder or ruminate on the topic on this beautiful world of peace, but it is something tangible, something that we are working towards each and every day, something that we can build upon starting with you and me."
5. As In Jin Nim was taking the trip to Las Vegas, on the way back going through LA they had to wait for a plane to come and replace the plane they were supposed to be on. And so they had some delay time. People started gathering in small groups and talking with each other. And In Jin Nim noticed in one corner three young teenage girls. They were beautiful girls huddled together looking at fashion magazines. Glamour, Elle, Cosmopolitan, People, Us, (and others). They were pointing at different people and things exclaiming, "I want to be like her, I want to have that, she has legs 6 miles long, her body is perfect, 36-24-32." In Jin Nim listened to their conversation – "you know, these people they have it all, they're beautiful, they have their cars, mansions, iPods and iPad's, fabulous girlfriends and boyfriends, all the designer clothes (In Jin Nim named the brands and designers – "they knew their stuff" – designer bags and shoes). When I become rich and successful these are the things that I want!"
6. These ladies were between 15 and 17. They were infused with this incredible desire – wanting the latest designer clothing and bags (In Jin Nim gave several designer names). It is interesting how, it doesn't matter where we come from, what culture we are born into, what race we belong to – in the journey through life, on the road of life where we come to understand what we are all about and who we are and what we need to do and what kind of people we need to be – there is this word that we come face-to-face with from time to time – the word 'desire.'
7. Many times we say to ourselves that we desire things. We desire all these things that we want to acquire – we desire. In Jin Nim often thinks, yes we desire all these things, we desire X – (fill in the box). But many times in life there are other things at play, not just we as individuals, but there are also supernatural things at play, there are th

African Ceremonies by Carol Beckwith & Angela Fisher
Thirty years ago American-born Carol Beckwith and Australian Angela Fisher met in Kenya and began a relationship with the African continent that would profoundly alter and shape their lives. Their journeys would take them over 270,000 miles, through remote corners of 40 countries, and to more than 150 African cultures.
During this time the two photographers would produce 14 universally acclaimed books, including Maasai (1980), Nomads of the Niger (1983), Africa Adorned (1984), African Ark (1990), African Ceremonies (1999), Passages (2000), Faces of Africa (2004), Lamu: Kenya’s Enchanted Island (2009), and Dinka (2010). Their defining body of work, the double volume African Ceremonies (1999), a pan-African study of rituals and rites of passage from birth to death covering ninety-three ceremonies from twenty six countries, won the United Nations Award for Excellence for its “vision and understanding of the role of cultural traditions in the pursuit of world peace”. Angela and Carol have also been twice honoured with the Annisfield-Wolf Book Award in race relations for “outstanding contributions to the understanding of cultural diversity and prejudice”, the Royal Geographical Society of London’s Cherry Kearton Medal for their “contribution to the photographic recording of African ethnography and ritual”, and most recently the Lifetime Achievement Award from WINGS WorldQuest honouring the accomplishments of visionary women.
From their body of work in Africa over the last 10 years Carol and Angela have produced a number of limited edition books printed on the fine art presses in Santiago Chile under the directorship of Roberto Edwards. Their special limited edition books are Surma, Karo, Maasai, and Dinka.
These multi-talented photographers have also been involved in the making of four films about traditional Africa including Way of the Wodaabe (1986) The Painter and the Fighter, and Millennium: Tribal Wisdom and the Modern World. Their numerous photographic exhibitions have received acclaim in museums and galleries throughout the world, including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, National Geographic Museum, Smithsonian Museum of African Art, Bowers Museum of Cultural Art, Borges Cultural Center of Buenos Aires, National Museums of Kenya, and venues in Australia, Europe, and Japan. In 2000 their careers were celebrated at the Brooklyn Museum of Art in New York with a major travelling exhibition called Passages featuring 97 mural photographs, 6 video films and a selection of African masks sculpture and jewelry. This exhibition has since travelled throughout the USA, to South America and Europe. The two photographers have lectured at such venues as the Explorers Club in New York, the National Geographic Society in Washington D.C., and the Royal Geographic Society in London.
Presently Angela and Carol are preparing for the 2010 publication of Dinka, their 30 year study of the great pastoralists of Southern Sudan, and completing their pan-African study of the art of body painting for a book entitled Africa: Spirit of Paint scheduled for publication in 2011.
Aware that traditional cultures in Africa are fast disappearing, Carol and Angela are working with an urgency to complete the third volume of their ongoing study of African Ceremonies with the goal of covering the remaining traditional ceremonies in the 13 African cultures in which they have not yet worked. This book entitled African Twilight is scheduled for publication in 2013.
Angela and Carol have recently expressed their intention to place their extensive photographic archive of traditional African cultures and ceremonies with an institution to be selected in the coming months. In addition to more than half a million photographic images the Beckwith Fisher collection includes over 400 hours of video film, 200 illustrated journals and three museum scale exhibitions. This unique archive, created during a thirty-year period of dedicated work, encompasses one hundred and twenty distinct cultures from forty African countries. The institution to be chosen must be a venue for ongoing study and research, committed to making the collection accessible to students, scholars, and the general public, thereby insuring that Africa’s legacy of ancient cultures is preserved, accessible and understood.
“These unique cultures posses a wealth of knowledge that should be celebrated, shared, and honoured. It is our life passion to document and create a powerful visual record of these vanishing ways of life for future generations.”
