Lam Tsuen (Chinese: 林村) is an area in Tai Po noted for its Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees. The nearby Lam Tsuen River, empties into Tai Po Hoi.
Lam Tsuen is not a village in the political sense but rather a union of the 23 villages scattered across the Lam Tsuen Valley along with five indigenous (Punti) villages and 18 Hakka villages.
Today, Lam Tsuen spreads over an area covering 26 villages:
The Lam Tsuen River (Chinese: 林村河; pinyin: Lincun He) is a river in Tai Po District, Hong Kong. It collects water from the Ng Tung Chai Water Fall on the hill Sze Fong Shan and joins other branches in the Lam Tsuen Valley. It empties into Tolo Harbour after being joined by the Tai Po River near Tai Po town.
Kwong Fuk Bridge is an ancient Chinese style footbridge built across Lam Tsuen River.
Coordinates: 22°26′42″N 114°10′12″E / 22.445°N 114.170°E / 22.445; 114.170 Tai Po /ˌtaɪˈpoʊ/ is an area in the New Territories of Hong Kong. It refers to the vicinity of the traditional market towns in the area presently known as Tai Po Old Market or Tai Po Kau Hui (大埔舊墟) (originally Tai Po Market) and the Tai Wo Town (Tai Wo Market) on the other side of the Lam Tsuen River, near the old Tai Po Market Station of the Kowloon-Canton Railway (British Section). Administratively, it is part of the Tai Po District.
Both market towns became part of the Tai Po New Town in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In present-day usage, "Tai Po" may refer to the area around the original market towns, the Tai Po Town (Chinese: 大埔市), or the entire Tai Po District.
It is becoming a popular suburb of Hong Kong and also for people working in Shenzhen. There are a mixture of public housing complexes in the densely populated area of Tai Po plus many expensive high-end private properties in the sparsely populated area surrounding Tai Po.
Hong Kong (香港; "Fragrant Harbour"), officially Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, is an autonomous territory on the southern coast of China at the Pearl River Estuary and the South China Sea. Hong Kong is known for its skyline and deep natural harbour. It has a land area of 1104 km2 and shares its northern border with Guangdong Province of Mainland China. With around 7.2 million inhabitants of various nationalities, Hong Kong is one of the world's most densely populated metropolises.
After the First Opium War (1839–42), Hong Kong became a British colony with the perpetual cession of Hong Kong Island, followed by Kowloon Peninsula in 1860 and a 99-year lease of the New Territories from 1898. Hong Kong remained under British control for about a century until the Second World War, when Japan occupied the colony from December 1941 to August 1945. After the Surrender of Japan, the British resumed control. In the 1980s, negotiations between the United Kingdom and the China resulted in the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration, which provided for the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong on 30 June 1997. The territory became a special administrative region of China with a high degree of autonomy on 1 July 1997 under the principle of one country, two systems. Disputes over the perceived misapplication of this principle have contributed to popular protests, including the 2014 Umbrella Revolution.
Tai Wo (Chinese: 太和) is an area in Tai Po Town in the New Territories of Hong Kong; it forms the northern part of Tai Po Town. It has its own railway station on the MTR and a market. Tai Wo Estate is a large public housing estate in the area; its shopping centre is adjacent to the Tai Wo MTR station.
Tai Wo was also a former name of the current Fu Shin Street (富善街), one of the market town in Tai Po. The Tai Wo Market (Chinese: 太和墟) was developed since 1892 by the Tsat Yeuk (七約, lit. "Seven Alliance"), an inter-village alliance, in order to break the monopoly of the old Tai Po Market (大埔墟) formed by the Tang Clan of Lung Yeuk Tau (龍躍頭鄧氏).
However, in present time, the name Tai Wo mostly refers to the area surrounding the Tai Wo Station of East Rail and the Tai Wo Estate. Fu Shin Street is being considered as a part of the old Tai Po Market.
Tai Wo is part of the Tai Po district. I love Tai Po from its majestic Tolo harbour to its many beautiful parks and lets not forget the amazing food and shopping. Tai Po has it all. Check out this video as I photograph the Lam Tsuen River near Tai Wo MTR station. It was mainly a training flight, but it still produced some amazing scenery. Enjoy! Fung Ma Po is a village betwenn the 26 in Lam Tsuen were the Wishing Tree is located just near by the road. The Lam Tsuen Wishing tree is a tradition for Chinese people to come during the Chinese New Year, to pray and to deposite their josses and an orange tied over it, People used to throw their orange and wishing paper the highest they can on branches, by now, the Tree can't handle anymore josses as it was too much and heavy so they renamed a tree (5 meter from the biggest one) for people still hang their wishing paper. Now, there is a wooden rack were you feel free to hang your wish paper with many others. The legend says that there is a worshipper has a son who was pretty bad in high school , one day this worshipper made a wish upon this tree and after since, the son has a big ch...

People attempting to lodge their plastic oranges with selfish messages in a plastic tree, lamely.

A global trading centre of the highest calibre, this island city-state is a melting pot of different cultures, foods and ways of life. Established as a trade colony of the British Empire at the beginning of the 19th century, Singapore has long outgrown its humble beginnings and is now one of the world's busiest and most captivating cities. A metropolitan and sophisticated atmosphere characterises the city but it also retains a sensitivity and respect for the many traditional cultures while its south-east Asian location gives it a very humid equatorial climate.
