LINK: tinyurl.com Up until the rise of Brooks & Dunn in the '90s, the Judds were the most commercially successful duo in country music history. Mother Naomi and daughter Wynonna enjoyed an astounding run of 14 number one singles from 1984 to 1989, ranking them as one of the most popular country acts of the '80s. Their music combined elements of traditional country harmony singing, bluegrass, and Appalachian folk with pop, rock, and polished contemporary production. The Judds - "Guardian Angels"
This video is from my VHS archive. I enjoy it every time i hear it...Hope - you'll enjoy it too... A hundred year old photograph Stares out from a frame And if you'll look real close you'll see Our eyes are just the same I've never met them face to face But I still know them well From the stories my dear grandma would tell Elijah was a farmer he knew How to make things grow And Fanny vowed she's follow him Wherever he would go As things turned out they never left Their small Kentucky farm But he kept her fed she kept him warm They're my guardian angels I know they can see Every step I take They are watching over me I might not know where I'm going But I'm sure where I come from They're my guardian angels And I'm their special one Sometimes when I'm tired I feel Elijah take my arm He says keep a goin' hard Work never did a body harm And when I'm really troubled And I don't know what to do Fanny whispers just do your best We're awful proud of you They're my guardian angels... A hundred year old photograph Stares out from a frame And if you'll look real close you'll see Our eyes are just the same...

A new film combing animation with live action conceived and directed by Joshua Frankel, about the architecture of New York City blasting off into outer space and resettling on Mars. The film’s visuals are an animated collage combining live action footage, animated elements, illustrations and treated photographs, including photos taken by the Mars rovers Spirit and Opportunity made available to the public domain by the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Plan of the City was created in collaboration with composer Judd Greenstein and NOW Ensemble, an acclaimed "indie classical" chamber ensemble; the ensemble, including Greenstein, feature prominently in the film as live actors set inside the animated framework.
The audio of the film consists solely of Greenstein's Change, performed by NOW Ensemble; Change and Plan of the City were created in parallel, each expressing its own artistic intention while simultaneously serving its "sibling".
The film was presented with the music performed live, timed to the film, at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City in May, 2011. It also exists as its own stand-alone entity, utilizing NOW Ensemble's recent studio recording of Change(out on New Amsterdam Records).

WARNING: an overtly heart-on-sleeve note follows.
This film was conceived and shot in LA over a period of 3-4 days, with the help of some passionate people, while I was there prepping "The Divine River" (http://vimeo.com/10044032) last year.
Basically I was given the opportunity to shoot a little project of my choosing, with a small skeleton crew, and a couple of actors. The catch?
I only had a couple of hours to come up with something.
So I buckled down and just began writing. I had no idea what I was going for, but I started typing anyway, and something began to pour out of me. Feelings of anger, love, and frustration just found their way on to the page. When I was done, I only knew that I was very proud of it on a personal level, but not really aware what exactly it would mean to me in the months to come...
A couple of days later I drove out to Death Valley, Nevada, with my friend/producer Judd Tilyard, and we shot what I had written. A small little intimate short, meant for me more than anyone else. I managed to make some (hopefully) life-long friends out there and was beyond proud of the work I saw Stephen and Jessica contribute as actors -- which is why they are billed first in the final credits.
Then weeks later, I returned to Toronto...
...only to find out my marriage was ending and that my father was dying of cancer. Needless to say, I felt the wind knocked out of me...
A few months later, I finally forced myself to sit down and start editing the film with the help of my co-editor Mike Burton. The goal was just to busy myself -- but then something happened. As I watched the screen, it hit me...
I had subconsciously made a film about the end of my marriage.
Or at least about knowing it was on that edge, where a couple either survives or doesn't. Even back then, out in LA, I had sensed we were in trouble, and had somehow subconsciously written down what I was feeling. It's all there... our anxiety, our frustrations, the love and the hope... from both our sides I think. Even though we are not these characters, the feelings are all there. Not all marriages end because of cheating, lying, and pettiness... Some just end.
It's not what the film is literally about, as it was designed to be open to interpretation, and hopefully means different things to different people as I had intended...
However, to me... this is a film about listening to one another before its too late.
Also it's dedicated to my father.
