Dolphins in the Moray Firth Scotland
This film is a combination of several visits. The film was invariably captured on cold and windy days (even in summer). There is a well know spot on the Moray Firth where the dolphins appear just meters away from the beach, as the beach shelves really steeply. It was estimated that the number in the Firth on one of those days of filming was about 50-70, it's difficult to be sure. You can get a sense of the numbers in some of the opening shots as you can see pods swimming both close by and away in the distance. There are many many youngsters with the adult dolphins, see if you can spot them. The film is in three sections. First the approach, then a feeding frenzy. I have tried to put this feeding activity into slow motion first. In fact, I did not realise what I had filmed until I got it onto the computer and saw the images frame by frame. It is a challenge to see, but large salmon are leaping out the way in a desperate attempt to avoid the predators. You could call it a salmon leap. One salmon even gets thrown out of the way by a blow from a fin. It's all quite desperate and you can begin to feel sorry for the salmon. And finally, these are social animals, so we see them rolling around, leaping, playing and caressing each other as they go on their way again. Look out for the extra characters at the end. With music by Yanni and Paul Schwartz Project

Moray Firth Bottlenose Dolphins
This short video shows the Bottlenose dolphins of the Moray Firth in Scotland feeding on salmon in the estuary. This biologically-distinct population consists of just 130 individuals and is threatened by pollution and industrial construction in the Firth. These dolphins are unique, and are being pushed to the edge of extinction.

Protect the Dolphins in the Moray Firth (Paul Oakley)
The Moray Firth is home to a pod of bottlenose dolphins who have been encouraged to live and breed in the area. They are one of only two resident pods in the UK. These dolphins can be observed from the shore - one of the few places in the world where this is possible. They live in a protected area, but the government are prepared to drive them away by granting two companies licences to carry out seismic testing in an area that encroaches on the boundary of this area. This is some video footage we got the last time we were there, put to a piece of music from my CD - it's been done in a hurry because we don't have much time to fight this decision! Please watch the video and support the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society in their fight to save these dolphins and the area they live in. For more info go to www.wdcs.org.uk or let the government know what you think of their plans by emailing The Department of Energy and Climate Change at: mfaa.2010@decc.gsi.gov.uk (marked "Block 17/3 Appropriate Assessment") You only have until October 12th 2010 Thank You, Paul Oakley www.paul-oakley.com I am not affiliated to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society in any way, I just want to help protect these innocent dolphins.

"Moray Firth" Dolphins music video HD
Homemade music video filmed in "Scotland" Music: Saltwater - Chicane Dolphins are my favourite mammal, since I was about 12 I have wanted to get them on camera and although I know they live in the "Moray Firth" I just wasn't expecting them to see them and when they started jumping it was just the icing on the cake :0) It was about 9.35pm and I was lucky enough to have had my camcorder on me at the time, I only took it out with me so I could film the sunset, which didn't seem so amazing compared to the dolphins ! ! I counted about 6 in total and 1 seal, I stayed and watched them for about an hour until it was too dark to see them anymore. I hope you enjoy the video, feel free to comment below and check out my other videos :0) Apologies for the shaky parts in the video, I didn't have my tripod with me at the time :/ Nicky x

Moray Firth Dolphins
A great day viewing wild dolphins in July 2006 from the shore at Chanonry point near Fortrose in the Moray Firth, Scotland. These dolphins are now under threat from oil exploration in the firth. It's a unique place where you can see dolphins really close up from the shore without disturbing them at all - for most of this film I am in a group of about 80 people on the point (you can hear all the shrieks and cameras whirring away). The dolphins are so close that you can hear them breath, but they are in deep water. There are boat trips but it's really better from the shore. It is best in summer and they are there most days. Go there at low tide and as the tide floods you will see the dolphins arrive and feed. The tidal current by the shore gets really strong so it concentrates the fish into a small area. If you are lucky you will see young ones, leaping dolphins, salmon being caught - it's a great wildlife experience!
