The Starch Solution - John McDougall MD
This truth is simple and is, therefore, easy to explain. You must eat to live. But the choice of what you eat is yours. There is an individual, specific diet that best supports the health, function, and longevity of each and every animal. The proper diet for human beings is based on starches. The more rice, corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and beans you eat, the trimmer and healthier you will be -- and with those same food choices you will help save the Planet Earth too. This talk is by John McDougall MD from the VegSource Healthy Lifestyle Expo 2010. You can purchase a copy of all 14 fascinating and life-saving talks from the Expo on DVD. Non-Newtonian Fluid on a Speaker Cone
Corn starch is a shear thickening non-Newtonian fluid meaning that it becomes more viscous when it is disturbed. When it's hit repeatedly by something like a speaker cone it forms weird tendrils. The video was shot at 30 fps and the speaker cone was vibrating at 30 Hz which is why there is no blur. This is the original video with the actual sound of the speaker.

The Starch Solution and Why Salt is a Scapegoat
A presentation by John McDougall, MD. The human diet is a starch-based diet. All large populations of trim, healthy people, throughout verifiable human history, have obtained the bulk of their calories from starch. Examples of once thriving people include Japanese, Chinese, and other Asians eating sweet potatoes, buckwheat, and/or rice, Incas in South America eating potatoes, Mayans and Aztecs in Central America eating corn, and Egyptians in the Middle East eating wheat. Starch tastes sweet to the human tongue. The tongue also enjoys saltiness. Salt is not a health hazard for most people. By understanding the true roles of starch and salt, a healthy diet becomes a powerful and preferable way of eating. Dr. John McDougall${q}s national recognition as a nutrition expert earned him a position in the Great Nutrition Debate 2000 presented by the USDA. He is a board-certified internist, author of 11 national best-selling books, the international on-line "McDougall Newsletter," host of the nationally syndicated television show "McDougall MD," and medical director of the 10-day, live-in McDougall Program in Santa Rosa, CA. Other McDougall activities include seminars and health-oriented adventure vacations. Filming and editing by Dr William Harris MD on November 14, 2009 at McCoy Pavilion, Ala Moana Beach Park, Honolulu, Hawaii Sponsored by: Vegetarian Society of Hawaii www.vsh.org

Corn Starch and Water dancing in a speaker
A fun experiment a friend and I tried. We mixed corn starch and water and put it in a speaker playing a low notes from a synthesizer. The mixture is a non-newtonian fluid, which is liquid unless agitated. The piece in the background is just something I made to try and match the video. The video's original sound was poor, just guys talking with a droning speaker in the background. So if you don't like the song, put it on mute. You're not missing anything.

DIY: Wall Decals Using Things You Already Have (Paint & Sticker Wall Decals Alternative)
This is a fun DIY tutorial. It's quite simple. The best thing about this is that it doesn't harm your walls and you can use things you already have. Cut up an old shirt, pair of pants, or any loose/extra fabric you have around. You also need corn starch, which I'm pretty sure you'll be able to find in your kitchen cabinet. Hope this helps! Have fun creating :)let's be friends: twitter: follow me :) www.twitter.com/traceynguyen fundraising site: www.trayseelove.weebly.com aim: xtraceynguyen email: lovemetracee@yahoo.com blogtv: blogtv.com/people/abctracey DISCLAIMER: Anything I used or mentioned in this video was purchased with my own money.
