Chris Braide is an English singer, songwriter, record producer published by Sony/ATV worldwide based in Los Angeles.
Producer, Songwriter and Ivor Novello and ASCAP winner Chris Braide has achieved considerable success as a songwriter in the UK and the US. He is one of few British songwriters of late to reach multi million record sales in the United States. In a 2005 article for GQ magazine, Braide featured among the most successful and influential men in the music business under the age of 40. He is considered to be one of the UK's most successful songwriters.
In 1996, Braide signed a new solo deal with East West Records. The label released the singles "If I Hadn't Got You" and "Heavenly Rain" followed a year later by the album, Life In A Minor Key which was co-produced by Chris and David A. Stewart at Electric Lady Studios in New York.
"If I Hadn't Got You" was released in the US in 1998 by Atlantic Records after chairman Craig Kallman saw Braide performing an acoustic show in London.
"Anything Is Possible" was a number one single for Pop Idol winner Will Young In 2002, selling 1,108,659 copies in its first week and over 1.7 million copies in total. The song was also the B-side of the debut single by Gareth Gates, which sold over 1.4 million singles in the UK. The song earned Braide the prestigious Ivor Novello award the following year.
2009 saw the release of X Factor winner Leon Jackson's second single Don't Call This Love. It peaked at number 3 in the UK singles The album was released on 21 October 2008, and reached #4 in the UK and #7 in Ireland.
Over 2009 Chris had 3 no. 1 albums including Cheryl Cole's Three Words, JLS's self titled album JLS and Westlife's Where We Are all albums have reached double platinum status.
In January 2010, Anything Is Possible was named as the UK's bestselling single of the decade, as the Official Charts Company's 2000-2009 sales data roundup was officially released.
May 2010 saw the release of Diana Vickers' "Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree" which debuted at number 1 on the UK Albums Chart, including four songs written and produced by Braide, one of which was co-written with Dev Hynes,( Lightspeed Champion)"The Boy Who Murdered Love" has been confirmed as the second single.
Chris co- wrote the UK number one single "Have You Ever" and the UK number 2 single "Say Goodbye" with Cathy Dennis for S Club 7.
Chris co-wrote the debut single for American Idol winner Diana DeGarmo - "Dreams", which made its debut at #2 in record sales and #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2005. The song was also recorded by American Idol's Fantasia Barrino and featured on her platinum selling single "I Believe".
Disney artist Jesse McCartney recorded the song Because You Live written by Chris Braide, Andreas Carlsson and Desmond Child and featured on Mccartney's platinum selling album "Beautiful Soul". The song also appeared on the Million selling Princess Diaries soundtrack.
Chris Braide has recently produced and written songs for Nikki Yanofsky, Paloma Faith, Yunalis Zarai, Katharine McPhee and Lana Del Rey.
