A gathering of art and music lovers witnessing a cultural extravaganza at the M.A.D or Music, Arts and Dance Festival that was set amidst the valleys and glades in Ooty.
The MAD festival this year saw three bands from Kerala perform along with 40 other bands across the country.
Percussionist John Thomas of rock-band Motherjane says, “Overall the festival was good with live media coverage and the best of bands participating in this festival.”
The band has performed at various big concerts and is happy to be a part of the MAD festival too. “It’s my first time in Ooty where such a big extravaganza for artistes was held.
Through this festival I got to meet lots of artistes and develop new contacts as well,” added John.
The three-day festival held last week was an annual event showcasing an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary music, arts, dance and other performing arts.
When it came to the pioneers of Malayali rock, the venue was jam-packed with fans of alternative rock music.
All credit goes to the Avial band members who rocked the show with four of their latest hits. Vocalist Tony John remarked, “It was a well-organised event held in such a beautiful place.
We have been part of different fests nationally as well as internationally, but MAD was happening here for the first time and we got an opportunity to meet a lot of talent in music.”
