World not as hot as US in 2012; squeaks in top 10
By SETH BORENSTEIN, Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) — New weather data shows that the world's average temperature in 2012 barely slipped into the top 10 hottest years on record, despite the U.S. smashing heat marks. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says last year's world average temperature was 58 degrees Fahrenheit (14.5 degrees Celsius).
