RICKY NELSON: Teenage Idol Slideshow
This is a tribute to the wonderful Ricky Nelson. His songs were simple, but his voice was so appealing and smooth. Ricky was a charmer, but never took all the glory. Although he was a teenage idol, he was a true performer at heart. Enjoy. Vally

Blackfoot - Teenage Idol [Official Music Video]
Blackfoot - Teenage Idol www.facebook.com From "Siogo" [1983] Lyrics: A lonely boy in the city Standing tall up to his blue jean jacket and eyes of pity He's got a dream, now he told his Papa "Don't you worry Daddy I'll be back to show you what a life I've made" With a tear falling from his eyes He knew that he wanted to be Oh, he wants to be, yes, he's got to be Oh, he'd love to be a teenage idol Standing in his hometown Waiting for the bus that'll take him Farther than he's ever been Picked up his bags and kissed his sweetheart "Don't you worry honey, I'll be back To show you what a life I've made" With a tear falling from her eyes She knew that he'd love to be Oh, he wants to be, yes, he's got to be Oh, he'd love to be a teenage idol Oh, if he could see, his name on the marquee He'd live so happily, as a teenage idol He's in another city Standing tall up to his satin jacket and eyes of pity He's got it all except for his Papa "Don't you worry, Daddy I've shown them what a pretty life I've made Even though I'll miss you badly You know I always wanted to be" Oh, I want to be, yes, I've got to be Oh, I'd love to be a teenage idol Oh, I want to be, yes, I've got to be Oh, I'd love to be a teenage idol Yes, I want to be, oh, I've got to be Oh, I'd want to be a teenage idol Yes, I'd love to see, my name on the marquee I'd live so happily as a teenage idol Oh, I'd want to be, yes, I've got to be Oh, I'd love to be a teenage idol

Ricky Nelson - Teenage Idol
PLEASE NOTE: I divided my uploads between multiple channels, Bookmark this link in your browser for instant access to an index with links to all of John1948's oldies classics. LINK: tinyurl.com Rick Nelson was one of the very biggest of the '50s teen idols, so it took awhile for him to attain the same level of critical respectability as other early rock greats. Yet now the consensus is that he made some of the finest pop/rock recordings of his era. Sure, he had more promotional push than any other rock musician of the '50s; no, he wasn't the greatest singer; and yes, Elvis, Gene Vincent, Carl Perkins, and others rocked harder. But Nelson was extraordinarily consistent during the first five years of his recording career, crafting pleasant pop-rockabilly hybrids with ace session players and projecting an archetype of the sensitive, reticent young adult with his accomplished vocals. He also played a somewhat underestimated role in rock & roll's absorption into mainstream America -- how bad could rock be if it was featured on one of America's favorite family situation comedies on a weekly basis? Nelson entered professional entertainment before his tenth birthday, when he appeared with father Ozzie, mother Harriet, and brother David on a radio comedy series based around the family. By the early '50s, the series was on television, and Ricky grew into a teenager in public. He was just the right age to have his life turned around by rock & roll in 1956 and started his recording ...

Frankie Avalon - Venus
One of a spate of teen idols to come out of Philadelphia in the 1950s and 1960s, Frankie Avalon--unlike many of the others--actually had a musical background, having been taught to play the trumpet at a very young age by his father. As a youth Avalon performed in local clubs and theaters. He won a local TV talent contest playing a trumpet solo. One day in 1952 he was performing at a private party held for singer Al Martino. A talent scout who was also at the party was impressed enough by Avalon to get him an appearance on Jackie Gleason's TV show, which led to more television appearances, and in 1954 he cut his own record on a small local label. At age 12 he was in a band called Rocco and the Saints, which included another soon-to-be famous teen singer, Bobby Rydell. Avalon eventually landed a recording contract with Philadelphia's Chancellor Records, and he recorded "Cupid" and "Teacher's Pet". These records got him his first movie role, a small part in Jamboree (1957) designed to promote "Teacher's Pet." His next record was "De De Dinah", a song written by his managers (and one for which he had so little respect that he pinched his nose while recording it, resulting in its extremely nasal sound). After an appearance on Dick Clark's teen dance show "Bandstand" (1952), sales of the record zoomed and it eventually sold more than a million copies. His next several songs were also big hits, and in 1959 he recorded the song he is probably best known for, the million-selling ...

The Addams Family - S01E33 Lurch, The Teenage Idol part 1 - 2
These are the longer versions of the episodes, some parts are missing in those already posted on You Tube. Enjoy!!! Lurch records a song at the harpsichord which eventually attracts swarms of screaming teenage fans to the house. The rest of the family thinks it is an invasion. Morticia has a wonderful thought - Lurch is such a marvelous musician, would he not make a great pop star? Mizzy Bickie, record promoter, agrees once he hears Lurch, but Lurch is reluctant. Gomez insists, and when the recording is played on the radio, Lurch becomes a huge star. Kids storm the house, and Lurch likes it. Lurch starts to neglect his butlering duties, and fan mail starts arriving by the truck-load. Bickie wants Lurch to do a world tour, which Lurch agrees to. He gives the Family a signed photo of himself. Gomez likes it, 'Best picture you ever took, Lurch. Doesn't look a bit like you.' Outside the house, Lurch encounters the down side of fame when his fans mob him. He decides he prefers the safe life with the Family and gives up showbiz.
