Harpal Brar, Chairman of the CPGB-ML, speaks at a gathering to celebrate the great victories over imperialism that have been won by workers and oppressed nations through proletarian internationalism, held in London on 26 July 2014.
Specifically, the 61st anniversary of the vicory of tiny but defiant Norht Korea over the US imperial goliath on July 27 1953 - when General Mark Clark signed the armistice agreement signifying the first defeat of this world tyrant. The DPRK was represented at the meeting by their British Ambassador, Comrade Hyon Hak Bong.
Our cuban comrades also celebrate July 26th 1953 as the date on which the Moncada Barracks of Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista were stormed by a group of revolutionary students led by Fidel Castro, signifying the inception of the armed struggle that led to the dictators overthrow and the establishment of the revolutionary proletarian government of Cuba on 1 January 1959. This event gave rise tot he name of the movement: "M26-7."
We are conscious of the fact that when working people, with revolutionary leadership, and high ideals march together and strike together, there are no fortersses we cannot storm, no positions we cannot hold. We are capable of overthrowing imperialism and building a better and just society; one without exploitation, but based upon mutual harmony and cooperation.
It is vitally important we remember this at a time when the Imperialist zionist reactionaries are perpetrating daily more horrific war crimes against our brothers and sisters in palestine; massacring 2,000 in air, land and naval assaults upon this tiny but densely populated territory that remains of Palestine.
Zionism is paving the way for its own destruction!
The fight for socialism and against imperialism, Harpal reminds us, is a sham and a fraud unless inseparaby bound to the struggle against social democracy: the enemies who claim to be "for the workers", but in fact champion the interests of the bloodthirsty exploiters in every field, foreign and domestic. In Britain in particular, we must expose and root out the leadership that the imperialist Labour Party exercises over the British working class.
This is the reason why we are powerless to stop attacks on workers at home and oppressed peoples abroad. We must show our feelings in the upcoming demonstration on Saturday 9 July in London, and on city streets worldwide.

Comrade Sammi Ibrahem participated in May Day celebrations in Sri Lanka at the invitation of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (People’s Liberation Front of Sri Lanka, JVP), along with other international delegates from Cuba and Greece. He gave a message of solidarity to demonstrations in both the capital, Colombo, and the northern city of Jaffna.
The CPGB-ML has good fraternal relations with the JVP. It is our firm belief that all workers who live in Britain are part of the British working class, regardless of how long they have been in the country or how long they intend to remain.
Generally speaking, any communist worker living in Britain should aim to be active in the revolutionary movement here. In that spirit, members of the JVP living in Britain are supporters of the CPGB-ML and work together with us in pursuit of our programme. They set an example to many others.
We reproduce below exerpts from Comrade Sammi’s greeting to the May Day rally in Colombo:
I bring greetings from the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist): Happy First of May!
Our party is extremely proud to have good relations with the JVP, the People’s Liberation Front, and we can see from the banners today that the struggle against imperialism and for socialism is being waged by the comrades of the People’s Liberation Front. Comrades, workers in Britain have a lot to learn from your example. Red salute to the JVP!
Comrades, the billionaires who control the world keep the masses in abject poverty. In the oppressed and economically backward countries the conditions for the working classes are especially hard. Value is created by human labour, but that which is produced through the blood and sweat of Sri Lankan workers is stolen by Sri Lankan capitalists and their friends, the imperialists, who channel billions back into their own pockets.
Workers can only improve their lot through class struggle. There is nothing so hypocritical as the bourgeois class, which asserts the equality of rich and poor; of the well-fed and the hungry. Capitalism drives the workers to sell their labour-power to the capitalist.; workers have no other choice but wage slavery under capitalist conditions. The workers in Sri Lanka struggle bravely for a dignified life and set a great example to the working class of Britain, but struggle must be for socialism, for a revolutionary change. Leninism teaches that we cannot do this without leadership by genuine socialists. The Sri Lankan workers are fortunate to have the JVP leading them in their struggle.
Any proletarian party that hopes to take state power and build socialism must understand how to adapt; how to change their method of struggle, whilst continuing to advance on the road to socialism. Sometimes it is necessary to fight with your fists, and the Sri Lankan workers have heroic chapters written into their history when they were led in fearless armed struggle.
As Marxists, we understand that state power means more than capturing parliamentary power. But when legal methods of struggle are open to revolutionaries, they must exploit them as best they can.
Today, one hundred years after the Great October Socialist Revolution in Russia, the example of the Bolsheviks is as valid as ever. The best weapon we have is the science of Marxism Leninism – the teachings of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin. This is the best defence against Trotskyites and splitters and it is the blueprint for making socialist revolution.
Long live the First of May!

Keith Bennett delivers a message on behalf of the CPGB-ML at the international BBQ held in Saklatvala Hall, Southall, on 30 July 2011.
The event celebrated the 58th anniversary both of the DPRK's victory in the fatherland liberation war (25 June 1950 -- 27 July 1953), which marked the first defeat of US imperialism, and of the storming of the Moncada barracks, by Cuban revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro, on 26 July 1953. The latter signaled the start of the Cuban revolution and gave its name to the Cuban revolutionary guerrilla movement (M 26-7).
Cde Keith outlines the achievements of these two revolutions, emphasizing the importance of proletarian internationalism as the key ingredient to successful anti-imperialist struggle.
He reminds us, in addition to the great role of the Chinese people's volunteers, in the DPRK victory over the USA, of some of the great scientists, artists and British political fighters who gave great solidarity and support to Korea, regardless of the sacrifices it entailed. These included our own honorary President Jack Shapiro, who sadly died last year.
Keith updates us on the current situation in Korea and touches on the practical lessons we can draw from the great revolutionary tradition of Korea, when building our movement for the liberation of workers here in Britain.

Harpal Brar
Harpal Brar (born 5 October 1939) is an Indian-born communist politician, writer and businessman, based in Britain. He is the founder and current Chairman of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist–Leninist).
Born in Muktsar, Punjab, British India, Brar has lived and worked in Britain since 1962, first as a student, then as a lecturer in law at Harrow College of Higher Education (later merged into the renamed University of Westminster), and later in the textile business. Brar owns buildings in West London which he uses for CPGB-ML party activity, and he part-owns an internet shop called "Madeleine Trehearne and Harpal Brar" which sells shawls.
Brar is the editor of a far left political newspaper called Lalkar, which was a paper belonging to the Indian Workers' Association before Brar inherited it. Brar has written multiple books on subjects such as Communism, Indian republicanism, imperialism, anti-Zionism, anti-Colonialism, and the British General Strike. He is also a co-founder of the Hands off China Campaign.

Vive, viva, and vivat
Viva, vive, and vivat are interjections used in the Romance languages. Viva in Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian, Vive in French, and Vivat in Latin and Romanian are subjunctive forms of the verb "to live". Being the third-person, subjunctive present conjugation, the terms express a hope on the part of the speaker that another should live. Thus, they mean "(may) he/she/it live!" (the word "may" is implied by the subjunctive mood) and are usually translated to English as "long live".
They are often used to salute a person or non-personal entity: "Vive le Québec libre" (from Charles de Gaulle's Vive le Québec libre speech in Montreal), or "Viva il Duce!", the rough equivalent in Fascist Italy of the greeting, "Heil Hitler." Additionally, in monarchical times the king of France would be wished "Vive le Roi!" and the king of Italy "Viva il Re!", both meaning "May the king live!" or "Long live the king!".
Overview
The acclamation "Vivat!" is still used in British coronations when the sovereign is hailed while processing from the quire of Westminster Abbey towards the altar. The shouts are delivered by the King or Queen's Scholars of Westminster School, who by tradition are the first to acclaim the sovereign at the ceremony. When Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in 1953, she was greeted with shouts of "Vivat, Regina/Vivat Regina Elizabetha/Vivat! Vivat! Vivat!", which was incorporated into Hubert Parry's anthem, I was glad.

Keith Bennett delivers a message on behalf of the CPGB-ML at the international BBQ held in Saklatvala Hall, Southall, on 30 July 2011. The event celebrated the 58th anniversary both of the DPRK's victory in the fatherland liberation war (25 June 1950 -- 27 July 1953), which marked the first defeat of US imperialism, and of the storming of the Moncada barracks, by Cuban revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro, on 26 July 1953. The latter signaled the start of the Cuban revolution and gave its name to the Cuban revolutionary guerrilla movement (M 26-7). Cde Keith outlines the achievements of these two revolutions, emphasizing the importance of proletarian internationalism as the key ingredient to successful anti-imperialist struggle. He reminds us, in addition to the great role of the Chinese people's volunteers, in the DPRK victory over the USA, of some of the great scientists, artists and British political fighters who gave great solidarity and support to Korea, regardless of the sacrifices it entailed. These included our own honorary President Jack Shapiro, who sadly died last year. Keith updates us on the current situation in Korea and touches on the practical lessons we can draw from the great revolutionary tradition of Korea, when building our movement for the liberation of workers here in Britain. Harpal Brar, Chairman of the CPGB-ML, speaks at a gathering to celebrate the great victories over imperialism that have been won by workers and oppressed nations through proletarian internationalism, held in London on 26 July 2014.
Specifically, the 61st anniversary of the vicory of tiny but defiant Norht Korea over the US imperial goliath on July 27 1953 - when General Mark Clark signed the armistice agreement signifying the first defeat of this world tyrant. The DPRK was represented at the meeting by their British Ambassador, Comrade Hyon Hak Bong.
Our cuban comrades also celebrate July 26th 1953 as the date on which the Moncada Barracks of Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista were stormed by a group of revolutionary students led by Fidel Castro, signifying the inception of the armed struggle that led to the dictators overthrow and the establishment of the revolutionary proletarian government of Cuba on 1 January 1959. This event gave rise tot he name of the movement: "M26-7."
We are conscious of the fact that when working people, with revolutionary leadership, and high ideals march together and strike together, there are no fortersses we cannot storm, no positions we cannot hold. We are capable of overthrowing imperialism and building a better and just society; one without exploitation, but based upon mutual harmony and cooperation.
It is vitally important we remember this at a time when the Imperialist zionist reactionaries are perpetrating daily more horrific war crimes against our brothers and sisters in palestine; massacring 2,000 in air, land and naval assaults upon this tiny but densely populated territory that remains of Palestine.
Zionism is paving the way for its own destruction!
The fight for socialism and against imperialism, Harpal reminds us, is a sham and a fraud unless inseparaby bound to the struggle against social democracy: the enemies who claim to be "for the workers", but in fact champion the interests of the bloodthirsty exploiters in every field, foreign and domestic. In Britain in particular, we must expose and root out the leadership that the imperialist Labour Party exercises over the British working class.
This is the reason why we are powerless to stop attacks on workers at home and oppressed peoples abroad. We must show our feelings in the upcoming demonstration on Saturday 9 July in London, and on city streets worldwide.
Harpal introduces Cde Jorge Luis Garcia, representitive of the Cuban Embassy, Comrade Han Wei from the Chinese Embassy, Comrade Ranjith of the JVP in Sri-Lanka, and comrade Marcel Cartier - a new york rapper, RT journalist and political activist who has recently visited Cuba, the DPRK (North Korea) and the Ukraine.

Generally speaking, any communist worker living in Britain should aim to be active in the revolutionary movement here. In that spirit, members of the JVP living in Britain are supporters of the CPGB-ML and work together with us in pursuit of our programme. They set an example to many others.

I bring greetings from the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist): Happy First of May!
Our party is extremely proud to have good relations with the JVP, the People’s Liberation Front, and we can see from the banners today that the struggle against imperialism and for socialism is being waged by the comrades of the People’s Liberation Front. Comrades, workers in Britain have a lot to learn from your example. Red salute to the JVP!
Comrades, the billionaires who control the world keep the masses in abject poverty. In the oppressed and economically backward countries the conditions for the working classes are especially hard. Value is created by human labour, but that which is produced through the blood and sweat of Sri Lankan workers is stolen by Sri Lankan capitalists and their friends, the imperialists, who channel billions back into their own pockets.
Workers can only improve their lot through class struggle. There is nothing so hypocritical as the bourgeois class, which asserts the equality of rich and poor; of the well-fed and the hungry. Capitalism drives the workers to sell their labour-power to the capitalist.; workers have no other choice but wage slavery under capitalist conditions. The workers in Sri Lanka struggle bravely for a dignified life and set a great example to the working class of Britain, but struggle must be for socialism, for a revolutionary change. Leninism teaches that we cannot do this without leadership by genuine socialists. The Sri Lankan workers are fortunate to have the JVP leading them in their struggle.
Any proletarian party that hopes to take state power and build socialism must understand how to adapt; how to change their method of struggle, whilst continuing to advance on the road to socialism. Sometimes it is necessary to fight with your fists, and the Sri Lankan workers have heroic chapters written into their history when they were led in fearless armed struggle.
As Marxists, we understand that state power means more than capturing parliamentary power. But when legal methods of struggle are open to revolutionaries, they must exploit them as best they can.
Today, one hundred years after the Great October Socialist Revolution in Russia, the example of the Bolsheviks is as valid as ever. The best weapon we have is the science of Marxism Leninism – the teachings of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin. This is the best defence against Trotskyites and splitters and it is the blueprint for making socialist revolution.

Comrades, the billionaires who control the world keep the masses in abject poverty. In the oppressed and economically backward countries the conditions for the working classes are especially hard. Value is created by human labour, but that which is produced through the blood and sweat of Sri Lankan workers is stolen by Sri Lankan capitalists and their friends, the imperialists, who channel billions back into their own pockets.
Workers can only improve their lot through class struggle. There is nothing so hypocritical as the bourgeois class, which asserts the equality of rich and poor; of the well-fed and the hungry. Capitalism drives the workers to sell their labour-power to the capitalist.; workers have no other choice but wage slavery under capitalist conditions. The workers in Sri Lanka struggle bravely for a dignified life and set a great example to the working class of Britain, but struggle must be for socialism, for a revolutionary change. Leninism teaches that we cannot do this without leadership by genuine socialists. The Sri Lankan workers are fortunate to have the JVP leading them in their struggle.
Any proletarian party that hopes to take state power and build socialism must understand how to adapt; how to change their method of struggle, whilst continuing to advance on the road to socialism. Sometimes it is necessary to fight with your fists, and the Sri Lankan workers have heroic chapters written into their history when they were led in fearless armed struggle.
As Marxists, we understand that state power means more than capturing parliamentary power. But when legal methods of struggle are open to revolutionaries, they must exploit them as best they can.
Today, one hundred years after the Great October Socialist Revolution in Russia, the example of the Bolsheviks is as valid as ever. The best weapon we have is the science of Marxism Leninism – the teachings of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin. This is the best defence against Trotskyites and splitters and it is the blueprint for making socialist revolution.

Keith Bennett delivers a message on behalf of the CPGB-ML at the international BBQ held in Saklatvala Hall, Southall, on 30 July 2011.
The event celebrated the 58th anniversary both of the DPRK's victory in the fatherland liberation war (25 June 1950 -- 27 July 1953), which marked the first defeat of US imperialism, and of the storming of the Moncada barracks, by Cuban revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro, on 26 July 1953. The latter signaled the start of the Cuban revolution and gave its name to the Cuban revolutionary guerrilla movement (M 26-7).
Cde Keith outlines the achievements of these two revolutions, emphasizing the importance of proletarian internationalism as the key ingredient to successful anti-imperialist struggle.
He reminds us, in addition to the great role of the Chinese people's volunteers, in the DPRK victory over the USA, of some of the great scientists, artists and British political fighters who gave great solidarity and support to Korea, regardless of the sacrifices it entailed. These included our own honorary President Jack Shapiro, who sadly died last year.
Keith updates us on the current situation in Korea and touches on the practical lessons we can draw from the great revolutionary tradition of Korea, when building our movement for the liberation of workers here in Britain.
