Woodcut Printing 1450-1520
The invention of printing allowed books and images to become household objects. Both could be reproduced quickly and in large numbers, whereas before this revolutionary technology they could only be drawn, painted or written by hand. This film focuses on woodcut printing. Printmaker and artist Anne Desmet was commissioned by the V&A; to make a copy of sheet of playing cards in the Museums collections. The orginal sheet of cards was printed onto paper with a woodblock. The sheet was then hand-coloured using stencils. The use of woodblocks to print text had been known in the East since the 8th century. In Europe the technique was first applied to textiles, but shortly after 1400 it was adopted also for images.

Woodcut / wood block carving technique and demonstration beginer overview, Song of Solomon Art
A brief overview explaining the ancient wood block carving technique I used in my art show at Art Gallery Tupos. I'm not an expert. But I went for it. And had fun. See my tools, wood choice, finished block, brayer, inking, paper placement, print, watercolor, and final series. kozo. arches. stonehenge. paper. Woodcut—occasionally known as xylography—is a relief printing artistic technique in printmaking in which an image is carved into the surface of a block of wood, with the printing parts remaining level with the surface while the non-printing parts are removed, typically with gouges. The areas to show 'white' are cut away with a knife or chisel, leaving the characters or image to show in 'black' at the original surface level. The block is cut along the grain of the wood (unlike wood engraving where the block is cut in the end-grain). In Europe beechwood was most commonly used[citation needed]; in Japan, a special type of cherry wood was used[citation needed]. The surface is covered with ink by rolling over the surface with an ink-covered roller (brayer), leaving ink upon the flat surface but not in the non-printing areas. Multiple colors can be printed by keying the paper to a frame around the woodblocks (where a different block is used for each color). The art of carving the woodcut can be called "xylography", but this is rarely used in English for images alone, although that and "xylographic" are used in connection with blockbooks, which are small books containing ...

Woodcut Paintings
Woodcut paintings made by artists in DaZhao Village, Shandong Province, China. Zhao Jing Lin and Zhao Jing Hua are a husband and wife team who create intricate woodcut paintings. Zhao Jing Lin does most of the printing while his wife takes care of the calendar. Starting with a stack of five hundred sheets of paper, they create their designs one at a time, placing one woodblock after another, painting each color at a time so that it builds the design. chinavine.ucf.edu

Printmaking Processes: Relief
The artist carves the image on a block of wood or linoleum, cutting away some areas and leaving others raised (in relief). Ink is applied with a roller, which contacts only the raised areas, leaving the cutaway parts uninked. The block can be printed by hand or on a printing press.

Sawmill Woodcut Vs Ivy? More Afk/More Exp?
80 woodcuting is needed! (forgot to add in) - Crystal saw Gives double exp while cutting the logs. Just a quick guide on this woodcutting method, not many people at all use it. surprisingly it is probably a lot better to do than ivy because it is always going to be 70-80k/hour rather ivy being sometimes 50-80k (depending on level) if you are low woodcutting , I would do this over ivy for sure as ivy will be really shitty exp until levels 90+. Hope you guys enjoy, see you tomorrow! Be sure to follow my ass on da Tweeets! twitter.com
