A River's Story - The Quest for the Brahmaputra
'The Quest for the Brahmaputra' is a journey along the course of Brahmaputra, the largest river in India. Originating from Tibet as river Tsang-Po, Brahmaputra travels through the hills and plateaus of Tibet, entering the plains of Assam and finally merges with the Bay of Bengal through Bangladesh. Changing its name six times throughout its journey, the Brahmaputra is equivalent to Navarasa, the nine emotions; sometimes calm and silent, as if in a meditative mood, sometimes destructive like a monster. The film portrays the culture and livelihoods that have flourished along the river. Over half a million people are dependent on the river, which also has religious importance in their lives 'The Quest for the Brahmaputra' is a quest that ends with the silent answer from a fisherman, when asked about their dependence even though the river is so destructive.

Killing the Brahmaputra river & Guwahati city of Assam (India) in installments
Killing the Brahmaputra & Guwahati city silently in installments by building the world's largest dam ( will be completed & fully functional by July 2012) -- Brahmaputra, known as the Tsangpo in China, is a trans-boundary river flowing into China, India and Bangladesh. It originates in the Jima Yangzong glacier near Mount Kailash in Tibet where it is called the Tsangpo Yarlung. From its origin in southwestern Tibet as the Yarlung Tsangpo River, it flows across southern Tibet to break through the Himalayas in great gorges and into Arunachal Pradesh where it is known as Dihang. Construction of a building the world's largest dam, with 26 turbines, expected to generate 40 million kilowatts per hour of hydroelectricity on the Yarlung Zangbo marks a turning point for Tibet & China is likely to complete the work on the dam by July 2012 after which the water will flow through the dam. THE NEW DAM WOULD BE 1.5 TIMES THE SIZE OF THREE GORGES DAM -- CURRENTLY THE WORLD'S BIGGEST. If diversion of the Brahmaputra water by China happened, this could have an adverse ecological impact on his state. The Zangmu hydroelectric power station is being built on the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo (known as the Brahmaputra when it reaches India) between the counties of Sangri and Gyaca. Several well-known Chinese hydropower firms have already made their way into Tibet. The backer of the Zangmu project, the Tibet Generating Company, has already built a residential area on the open spaces ...

China builds dam on river Brahmaputra
China has admitted it's building a dam on the Brahmaputra river in Tibet. And that's not all. It says it also has plans for four more hydroelectric power projects on the river. These projects will severely affect the flow of the Brahmaputra river, making water supply downriver to India less reliable.

Brahmaputra River - Guwahati - Assam - India - Mehboob's
Dear Friends - This is my very own Video I had captured on the bank of the mighty River Brahmaputra - Guwahati - Assam - India. The 1.7 km long mighty Saraighat Bridge connecting Guwahati - the capital city and the rest of the state Assam and North-East India with the rest of India. I love and admire nature. The flowing waters - the lofty hills - the evergreen terrains and the budding twigs and trees - mesmerizes my heart and mind with a serene silence of the surroundings - standing all alone amidst nature and its wonderful creations - the peace - the silence - the ambiguity - the picturesque - well defined by the feeling you are there ! Do enjoy the silent video !
