DAM, "Born Here", Hebrew/Arabic with English subtitles
Palestinian rap group DAM (Da Arab MC's, or "forever" in Arabic) created this music video about the life of Palestinians in Israel. They're from Lod, a town between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, so they're Palestinians with Israeli citizenship (often called "Israeli Arabs"). They usually rap in Arabic, but they made a Hebrew version of this song with a music video to get their message out to the majority of Israelis who don't speak Arabic. You find out more about them at www.dampalestine.com . I've always wanted a subtitled version, so I broke down and adapted the lyrics from their website, to create this. I think this is one of the most powerful rap songs out there. See moomtastic.com to see my extended comments on the video and its chorus. By the way, a lot of people are confused about what DAM stands for, but it really is "forever" or "eternity". See the interview at www.democracynow.org where you'll find this: TAMER NAFAR: Ill just correct you. Actually, dam is eternity in Arabic and blood in Hebrew. So its eternal blood, like we will stay here forever.

YICHANG - The Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest hydropower project, started working at full capacity Wednesday as the last of its 32 large turbine generators was put into operation. The Three Gorges opens its sluices for water discharge in Yichang, Central China's Hubei Province, July 3, 2012. The first flood peak in this year's flood season arrived at the Three Gorges Dam on Tuesday, with the maximal water influx into the Three Gorges Reservoir of 42000 cubic meters per second, hitting this year's record high. "With a combined generating capacity of 22.5 million kilowatts (22500 MW), the full operation of the generators makes the Three Gorges Dam the world's largest hydropower project and largest base of clean energy," Zhang Cheng, general manager of China Yangtze Power Co. Ltd., the operator of the generators, said at a Wednesday ceremony held in Yichang in central China's Hubei province. Sub-Inspector Rane is a honest and diligent Police Officer. He comes to know that a gangster by the name of PC Mathur is behind numerous criminal dealings and gets a warrant for his arrest. Before he could arrest Mathur, he himself gets arrested for murder, is tried in Court, and sentenced to seven years in prison. After the end of his prison term, Rane becomes an underworld figure known as Rana, and his main motive is to locate Mathur at any cost and kill him. But the wily Mathur manages to elude him. Then Rana hires a young man named Jai to kill Mathur. Jai accepts this assignment, but ends up killing another man by the same name. Jai decides to give him a life of crime so that he can atone this killing by looking after the blind daughter, Rajni, and widow of Mathur, leaving Rana alone to fend himself against Mathur and his growing gang of criminal elements, including Sonu, Ricku, and Daulat alias DK. The question remains will Mathur and his men permit Rana to hunt them down, or will they kill him before that happens?

It is the sequel to 2009's Borderlands and was released for the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. Borderlands 2 builds upon the gameplay elements introduced in its predecessor. It is a first-person shooter that includes character-building elements found in role-playing games, leading Gearbox to call the game a "role-playing shooter." At the start of the game, players select one of four new characters, each with a unique special skill and with proficiencies with certain weapons. From then on, players take on quests assigned through non-player characters or from bounty boards, each typically rewarding the player with experience points, money, and sometimes a reward item. Players earn experience by killing foes and completing in-game challenges (such as getting a certain number of kills using a specific type of weapon). As they gain levels from experience growth, players can then allocate skill points into a skill tree that features three distinct specializations of the base character.

Early 2012, HEYHEYHEY had some time to spare and they felt the need to challenge themselves once again, so they set out to build another one of their chain reaction machines called Melvin.
Conveniently built in two old suitcases, Melvin the Mini Machine is a Rube Goldberg machine specifically designed to travel the world. Each time Melvin fully completes a run, he ‘signs’ a postcard and sticks a stamp to it - making it ready to be sent.
Like its bigger brother, Melvin the Mini Machine also has an online non-physical side which he uses to connect to the people he meets. To keep things truly mobile Melvin uses a smartphone for his online identity.

Explosive Breach of Condit Dam
On October 26th, a hole was blasted in the base of 125' tall Condit Dam on the White Salmon River in Washington. In less than 2 hours, the reservoir behind the dam drained completely and the White Salmon flowed unimpeded by a dam for the first time in 100 years.
This short clip is a combination of video and timelapse photography captured throughout the day. The technical stuff:
Video was shot with a Sony FS100, a Sony EX1 recording to a KiPro HDD recorder, and a Canon 5D.
The timelapse photography was done with 2 Canon Rebel T2is and a Canon 7D. Additional cameras used include GoPro Hero 2s, GoPro HD Heros and a Canon 1D Mark 4.
