LGBT Weekly: Raw Video Of Brooke Fantelli Being Tazed By Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Ranger
Accompanying article on LGBT Weekly (lgbtweekly.com by Autumn Sandeen (lgbtweekly.com Article excerpt: ...Standing, hands up in the air with no visible resistance to arrest, Ranger Petter tazed Brooke Fantelli in the abdomen. At slightly more than 50 seconds into the video, the ranger tazed her a second time -- this time in the crotch. Back when Brooke Fantelli was known as Rodd Fantelli, she was a well known off-road race driver who won numerous races. She owns Fantelli Racing Products in Ramona, a custom off-road fabrication shop with 20 years of fabrication and racing history -- she's still a well known figure in the off-road racing community. Oct. 22 she was out in the Imperial County desert on federal land. With her were a long-time friend, a photographer, two models and a preteen who was a child of one of the models. They were out in the desert to take photos of the two models for their portfolios, and they were using one of Brooke's trucks and the desert as the backdrop for the photos. According to Brooke, a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) ranger by the name of Petter came by to see what the group was doing. Ranger Petter, in the process of finding out what they were doing, looked at the identification of all of the members of the group, and this is where the problems began... © 2011 LGBT Weekly. Paria Canyon/Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness - A Lasting Legacy
In Utah, the spectacular Paria Canyon/Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness Area is about 45 miles east of Kanab. The Wilderness area encompasses 112000 acres of redrock canyons and upthrust fault mountains. Coyote Buttes is a Special Management Area of the Paria Canyon/Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. It has become one of the most popular destinations for many people visiting the Colorado Plateau. It is colorful but fragile Navajo Sandstone slickrock. The attraction is the thin ledges that swirl in wild contours of color and stone that are Coyotte Buttes Northvery brittle and breakable. It has grown as an attraction over the years due to the many published photographs and other media coverage of this small area. Nature has fully used its imagination to converge with the appreciation of our individual minds in all their variety of thought and wonder. Before highways and railways, before pioneers, even before Columbus...the land we know as the United States was truly a vast wilderness. To protect these last remaining areas, in 1984, Congress created the Paria Canyon/Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. Coyote Buttes' outstanding scenery, desert wildlife, colorful history, and opportunities for primitive recreation will remain free from the influence of man and are protected in this condition for future generations. Its 112000 acres beckon adventurers who yearn for solitude, scenic splendor, and the chance to explore one of the most beautiful geologic formations in the world. Learn about ...

"Shooter Ethics, Land Access!" by Nutnfancy
Shooters are under fire...themselves. There are well-funded, organized groups that work to close YOUR shooting range and public lands (if you have any) to YOUR shooting activities. They don't care if you're target shooting, tactical shooting, plinking, competing, zeroing, your rifle, or hunting. They hate it. It doesn't help we have jackass shooters running around shooting signs, polluting, leaving couches, computers, shell casings, pallets, washers, beer cans, tires, propane tanks, and all manner of trash in our wild places either. These individuals are enemies to our freedoms, alienating us from society and adding fuel to the banning crowd. We need to conduct ourselves in these areas with a sense of preservation; leave the area how you found it if not better. In TNP we routinely clean up the messes from these selfish a-holes. Use steel targets, don't use explosive target in dry areas (seasonal fires also threaten to close our areas), and shoot safely with good backdrops. A simple formula for helping our cause and yet in my experience MOST shooters in my areas do not do this. Photographic evidence provided. I sometimes think we are the only shooters out here taking care of these beautiful natural places. The future looks bleak for gun ownership in the US. These majestic areas I show you in TNP will one day be off limits with road blocks and perhaps even car searches in the future as the society gets serious in keeping us out of these areas. It will go hand in hand with ...

[Full] Kita Vs Korupsi
State of the City - The Decade of San Antonio: A Big City transforming into a Great City 1/28/10
Mayor Julián Castro presented his first State of the City Address on Thursday, January 28, 2010, and proclaimed San Antonio as a city on the move that will vault forward economically in the coming decade.
"This is the decade of San Antonio, the decade of our emergence as an economic powerhouse nationally and internationally," Castro said. "We'll get there by building up brainpower and opportunity, making vibrant our public spaces, and getting the fundamentals of city government right."
Mayor Castro told a record crowd of more than 900 business and community leaders that his administration will not hide from the city's most difficult issues, which include raising the educational attainment level of the local workforce and investing in the city's urban core.
"Great cities are defined by their downtowns. San Antonio must invest in downtown and make it a magnet for residents and visitors alike," Castro said. "In these next few years, we will put a new streetcar system on the ground, redevelop our beloved Hemisfair, and enhance our Riverwalk to breathe new life into our downtown."
On Jobs:
"The top priority for 2010 is creating jobs for San Antonians. Our city has fared better than most American communities during this downturn, but we must work to fare better. 20,000 net new jobs in 2010 is the goal."
Green Economy:
"We must embrace new economic opportunities. San Antonio can and should become a leader in the green economy by investing in green job training, incentivizing green manufacturing and leading the way in the use of renewables to meet our energy needs."

Thank you.
Thank you very much for that introduction, Carri. You've already shown in your short time wonderful leadership here at the Chamber. I want to thank you and Richard Perez and all the folks at the Chamber for your tremendous leadership in the city. I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to work with ya'll as we expand the Mentoring Matters initiatives, and make sure that most folks have had the opportunity to reach their dreams. And I want to thank all of ya'll for being here. Carri mentioned that there are over 900 folks here, and when they told me that yesterday, I thought that this event must have been billed as “C.P.S. Energy, Behind-the-Scenes.” [ Laughter ] Or something to draw folks here.
But really, I believe that there is tremendous energy here in San Antonio in 2010. I believe that 2010 marks the beginning of the decade of San Antonio. This is the decade that we will emerge as an economic powerhouse across the nation and across the world, a place that people are looking toward for leadership, a place that people are taking notice of, a place that is in perfect position to seize the opportunity of tomorrow. It has been my absolute privilege to serve as your mayor for the last seven months. These days have been exciting ones, they've been long ones, but they've been well worthwhile because of the work of many, many folks, a couple of which I'd like to just recognize right now.
The first is, and I'd like to ask them all to stand up, the best city council that we've had in years, our San Antonio city council, please, if you would, stand up. I see Councilwoman Cisneros, Councilwoman Taylor, Councilwoman Ramos, Councilman Cortez, Councilman Medina, Councilman Lopez, Councilman Rodriguez, Councilman Williams, Councilwoman Chan, and Councilman Clamp. Thank ya'll very much.
I was, of course, not in office for four years, and in that time we had one of the best mayors in America, Phil Hardberger, who did a wonderful job of laying out a vision and a foundation for us to build on, and I'd like to recognize him as well. Thank you very much, Mayor Hardberger, for being here.
[ Applause ]
Everybody says that we have the best city manager in America, and seven months ago I got a chance to start testing that for myself, and I got to tell you, it's the truth. Sheryl Sculley has done an absolutely wonderful job as city manager, and she's really, and I think that Phil would agree with this, she is the reason that we look so good being mayor. I hope she'll stand up and be recognized. Thank you very much, Sheryl, for your work.
[ Applause ]
I remember coming to a couple of chamber events over the last few years, and Nelson Wolff would always tell this joke about being -- I don't know whether it was him not being the old mayor anymore or the young mayor, or I guess being about the same age as Phil. These days I know that I'm the young mayor, and he's the older county judge but has been a terrific partner and collaborator and one of the reasons that our city does so well. Thank you very much, Nelson, for your leadership. I'd like to recognize you as well.
[ Applause ]
And then I want to recognize my own staff. I see many of them here from Robbie Greenblum who couldn’t be here today to Jaime Castillo, Frances Gonzalez, Jed Maebius. I see Christian Archer, Roland Garza, Sarah McLor

Comments: "Range" is an appropriate middle name. What incredibly
detailed reporting on a variety of complicated topics. What an ability to
make us feel as if we know the players. What skill in explaining messy
situations. The very essence of solid journalism.

significant impact through his work. Time and time again, his stories cause
readers to stop, think, and most significantly, take action.
Congratulations!‖

Garcia and Mamoun shoot, write and edit compelling stories. One of
their strengths as a team is the obvious respect for their subjects, and the
ability through contacts in the community to land exclusive interviews and

2nd Place: Antonio Valverde, Univision
Valverde has a wide range as a journalist. He is able to work with various
segments of the community to tell compelling stories. He has political

content. Covering a story about outed CIA agent Valerie Plame, she

to the actress. She also gave a lot of information on entertainment agents
that broadened the picture the public was likely to have of that

this piece fun to read.
B2. NEWS FEATURE

Comments: Documents a groundswell of democracy while explaining a
new law through a real-world prism. Powerful. Incredibly well-sourced and
informative, yet provides a human touch. The story of poor minorities trying
to make a change documented how the masses can move the
establishment. Inspiring to others, this story shows what newspaper do like

Richardson of New Mexico, Congressmen Grijalva, Raoul Trujillo, Scott Momaday, Speak Out to Save The American Wild Mustangs in New Documentary Film.
With the American mustang crisis in the news worldwide, award-winning filmmaker, James Anaquad-Kleinert brings his star- studded environmental film, Wild Horses & Renegades, featuring Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, Viggo Mortensen, Daryl Hannah Governor Richardson, Congressmen Grijalva, Pulitzer Prize winning American Indian Author Scott Momaday and Raoul Trujillo to Santa Fe.
“If the public could view what’s being done to wild horses, the public would stand up and take action, this is just not a film about America’s Wild Horses this is a film about what is happening to America itself!” states Michael Blake, author of Dances with Wolves.
Anaquad-Kleinert's documentary examines the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) controversial policies on public lands, while investigating the elimination of America's wild horses and burros. Recently, 90 wild horses died and more than 40 mares aborted their late term foals as a result of the Calico Roundup in Nevada. The BLM called the Calico roundup a success. Many more roundups are scheduled for 2011. Since 2001, the BLM has removed more than 90,000 wild horses off their federally protected land. More than 24 million acres have been withdrawn from wild horse and burro use despite the 1971 Free Roaming Wild Horse and Burro Act. 40,000 wild horses are currently in government holding facilities instead of roaming on the land designated for their use. The BLM's roundup and removal policy is leading to the extinction of wild horses and burros in the West. This costs the American taxpayer: $120,000. Per day
“I adopted a wild horse named Voodoo, who had been rounded up by the Bureau of Land Management and adopted out to a killer buyer. The man like many or most killer buyers, played a cruel game of acquiring horses and betting that he could sell them to slaughter before he has to feed them. But the problem did not begin with the killer buyer. It began with the Bureau of Land Management,” said Willie Nelson.
Shot in high definition, Wild Horses & Renegades, centers around dramatic footage of heart- wrenching wild horse roundups and interviews with Jim Baca, (former Director of the BLM), Michael Blake (writer of Dances With Wolves), Sheryl Crow, Viggo Mortensen, Willie Nelson, Daryl Hannah, Congressmen Raul M. Grijalva, Pulitzer Prize winning American Indian Author Scott Momaday, Ginger Kathrens, American Indian actor’/advocates Raoul Trijullo and Tokala Clifford Black Elk, energy consultant Randy Udall, and scientific experts, as well as animal rights and environmental activists. The documentary examines the effects of gutting the historic 1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horse and Burro Act with the 2004 Burns Amendment—removing protections for tens of thousands of wild horses, many of whom have ended up in foreign slaughter plants. Wild Horses & Renegades documents the struggle of the West's legendary wild horses. The film focuses on the stallion named ‘Traveler’ and the activism to release him to the wild after the roundup. Wild horses have long symbolized freedom, individualism and the free spirit of America. The documentary delves into the reasons behind the roundups and current impacts on western public lands by oil, gas, mining and corporate cattle grazing.
How are the wild horses roaming free in the way of corporate oil, gas, water, solar, wind and mineral extraction? Before a big corporation begins extraction on public land, (leased out by the BLM), an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is made. If wild horses are in the area; advocates will want to protect the wild horse environment. This would be problematic for the extractive industry land acquisition. If wild horses remain on the range then the public will want to visit the area. Energy and mineral industries don't want the public to see any violations of safety and environmental codes, especially when they want to green wash their industries. Since America's wild mustangs cannot speak for themselves we're getting the word out. His short film, Wild Horse Spirit, was a pivotal part of the 2007 Emmy award- winning PBS series Natural Hero's. Sep 27- Walking Box Ranch Construction, Dept. of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management
This webinar is a short, hands-on, interactive workshop that will break down a specific opportunity and help you form a response to a Sources Sought notification. If your company supports NAICS 236220, or other related NAICS, then you should attend.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has completed the contract documents (plans and specifications) and will be soliciting construction proposals for the adaptive reuse/redevelopment of an historic resource known as Walking Box Ranch, as well as, the new construction of a small research and learning campus on site.
The ranch is located west of Searchlight, Nevada, just south of Highway 164. The project involves the sensitive adaptation of the resource to accommodate public visitation while maintaining the historic integrity of the site and structures.
Another separate, yet integral, element of this undertaking is the development of a field research facility to be operated by the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) on a portion of the site outside of the designated historic zone. Interpretive exhibits will be concentrated in areas open to the visiting public. Utilities and infrastructure will need to be developed.
The development involves 40 acres in the northwest quadrant of a larger 120-acre, protected parcel. Sensitive treatment of the developed area and methods to control impact upon the adjacent protect areas is part of this undertaking.
Expect the webinar to last about 20 minutes. We encourage you to attend. We promise to keep it short, informative, and entertaining.

PLEASE HELP THE WILD HORSES OF AMERICA FROM BEING KIDNAPPED BY THE BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT www.thepetitionsite.com THEY ARE DARTING MARES WITH INFERTILITY DRUGS AND ROUNDING UP THE LAST OF THE WILD HORSES TO AUCTION OFF... to view the documentary www.pbs.org NATURE presents the compelling story of a remarkable denizen of the West in Cloud: Wild Stallion of the Rockies. Americas wild horses lead an exhilarating but perilous existence. The climate can be brutal, mountain lions and other predators stalk the young, and their dependence on public grazing lands for sustenance often puts them in competition with livestock interests. In some places where these magnificent animals roam, it is not unusual for a wild horse to fall victim to an illegal horse shooter. Against this backdrop, NATURE presents Clouds story. Filmed in the mountains of Montana, this poignant, engrossing chronicle focuses on an extraordinary stallion, whose life has been recorded since his birth in the wild in 1995 by Emmy-winning filmmaker Ginger Kathrens.
