Potala Palace
Potala Palace is the highest ancient palace in the world, reaching 3767.19m (12359.55ft) at the topmost point. Potala named after a holy hill in South India is a Sanskrit word. According to legend: In the 7th century, to greet his bride Princess Wen Cheng of the Tang Dynasty (618B.C. - 907B.C.) of China, the then Tibet King Songtsen Gampo built a 9-storey palace with a thousand rooms up on the Red Hill and named it Potala. Later, with the collapse of the Songtsen Gampo Dynasty, the ancient palace was almost destroyed in wars. What we see at present is the architecture of the Qing Dynasty (1644B.C. - 1911B.C.) and the continuous expanding work since the 17th century.

Tibet Lhasa Potala Palace & Jokhang Temple 西藏拉萨
The Potala Palace (Tibetan: པོ་ཏ་ལ; Wylie: Po ta la; simplified Chinese: 布达拉宫; traditional Chinese: 布達拉宮) is located in Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region, China. It was named after Mount Potala, the abode of Chenresig or Avalokitesvara.[1] The Potala Palace was the chief residence of the Dalai Lama until the 14th Dalai Lama fled to Dharamsala, India, after an invasion and failed uprising in 1959. The Jokhang, (Tibetan: ཇོ་ཁང་; Wylie: Jo-khang; Chinese: 大昭寺; pinyin: Dàzhāosì), also called the Jokang, Jokhang Temple, Jokhang Monastery or Tsuklakang (gTsug lag khang), is located on Barkhor Square in Lhasa. It was built during the reign of king Songsten Gampo (605?-650 CE) to celebrate his marriage with Chinese Tang Dynasty princess Wencheng, who was a Buddhist.[1] During the Bon period of Tibet the temple was (and sometimes still is), called the 'Tsuklakang' (Tsulag Khang) — 'House of Religious Science' or 'House of Wisdom.' The term tsuklak refers to the 'sciences' such as geomancy, astrology, and divination which formed part of the pre-Buddhist shamanistic religion now referred to as Bon.[2] It is more commonly known today as the Jokhang, which means the 'House of the Buddha'.[1] For most Tibetans it is the most sacred and important temple in Tibet. It is in some regards pan-sectarian, but is presently controlled by the Gelug school. Along with the Potala Palace, it is probably the most popular tourist attraction in Lhasa. It is part of the UNESCO World ...

Potala Palace
The Potala Palace, a 13-story complex on Lhasa's Red Hill, was originally built by King Songtsen Gampo in the seventh century for the princess he was to marry. The palace contains over 1000 rooms, 10000 shrines, and some 200000 statues; it has been both the home and burial site of numerous Dalai Lamas. Buddhists travel long distances, often by foot, to visit the sacred palace. Potala Palace Stencil (BIG STENCIL)
WATCH IT IN HIGH QUALITY!!!! www.youtube.com Potala Palace Stencil by Lekden Size: 24 by 88 in inches Hours worked on: 9 Hours (I typed in the wrong number in the video) Stencil is huge, I didn't think it was going to come out huge. I printed out 24 of 110lbs 8 1/2 x 11 paper. Cut out the piece and taped all the paper together. Took it outside and got a 28 x 88 inch blank paper. Spray it on and WA LAAAAAAAAAA!!! NOTE: SPRAY PAINT DON'T GO WELL WITH TAPES!!!! What SUCKED: 1. My printer doesn't use all the space on the page. It leaves out about an inch, so I had to cut all of those, which took me a long time! 2. I don't have big art space to work on!

Potala Palace, Lhasa, Tibet - China
English see below [dt.] [en.] From the roof of our hotel in Lhasa we had a splendid view of the Potala Palace. Then we saw the former winter palace of the Dalai Lama majestically in front of us Before making the steep climb we observe the pilgrims at the Potala Kora, a circular route around the Potala Palace. Due to the short acclimatization to the altitude of 3600 m in Lhasa and the carrying of the camera equipment the rise of 180 m caused us little problems The white sections serve worldly purposes, while red sections serve spiritual purposes. Inside the Potala you may admire many art treasures like the ...
