Undershaw is a former residence of the well-known author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes. The unusual house was built for Doyle at his order to accommodate his wife's health requirements, and is the location where he lived with his family from 1897 to 1907. Undershaw is where Doyle wrote many of his works, including The Hound of the Baskervilles, and hosted notable persons of the era.
For decades after Doyle sold the house, Undershaw served as a hotel, which closed in 2004. The property has been vacant since then. In 2014 the house and grounds were purchased by the DFN Charitable Foundation for Stepping Stones School and are to be restored for use as a school for children with special needs. This is a use many are sure Conan Doyle would have approved of, indeed Richard Doyle, great nephew of Arthur Conan Doyle wrote, “I don’t believe that Undershaw should be preserved in aspic, but lived in and laughed in…. If it’s possible for some of this magical, special building to become the heart of a new school that contributes to the thriving community of Hindhead then I would be very happy”.

Can we call on a good chunk of followers from this page to get behind us on this day and spread our cause to as many people as possible whilst wearing something Sherlock or come and see us in person in Hindhead, Surrey and share in creating the day a successful one. We recommend deerstalkers, and some of our own Undershaw badges which can be purchased from eBay.
In 2004 Stepping Stones School was founded for children with mild to moderate disabilities. After starting with just 3 students, it quickly established itself as a successful alternative for those struggling to thrive in mainstream education and the overwhelming demand for spaces led to the need for expansion. In 2016, with the support of the DFN Foundation, the former home of Arthur Conan Doyle, Undershaw was opened. With small class sizes and a more flexible curriculum, Undershaw has become a leading education centre renowned for their provision of education for children with special education needs and disabilities (SEND). There's something you said
A whirlwind, a voice
"Together," you said
But I have no choice
Oh please
Stay a while
God, I love your smile
I never felt alone
But here feels like hell
When I am on my own
And you're all I feel
Oh please
Stay a while
God, I love your smile
A rat in a cage
A stone in a stream
I float far away
I live in a dream
Oh please
Stay a while
God, I love your smile
And how bout that thing
You do when you're awake
A laugh with a sting
A bite from a snake
Oh please
Stay a while
