Boston Manor was one of the ancient manors of Middlesex. It has now been assimilated into the London Borough of Hounslow west London, England. Its Jacobean manor house of 1622 still stands in what is now Boston Manor Park.
The earliest reference to Boston (or Bordwadestone as it was then spelled) was around the 1170s. It may mean Bord's tun or farm by the stone. It was situated towards the northern end of the Manor Boston. The lord of the Manor is recorded as Ralph de Brito. There is no record as to where he built his manor house. He founded a chapel at the southern end of the Manor called St. Lawrence on a site that is now derelict. The ecclesiastical boundary under this chapel was — or became over time — conterminous with that of the manor boundary. Today, this boundary would have been approximately to the east side of Boston Manor tube station's railway sidings and would have roughly followed the Piccadilly line west as far as the river Brent. Turning south, it followed the Brent down to the Thames. After a very short distance east, it turned north following Half Acre Road, then up along Boston Manor Road and thus back to the Tube station again.
The Manor House is an apartment building in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, USA. Built in 1908, it was designed by John Edmund Oldaker Pridmore in the Tudor Revival style. The building is commonly believed to be the former home of the British consul in Chicago, although the Edgewater Historical Society has argued that there is no evidence for this claim.
The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. It was also included as part of the Bryn Mawr Historic District, which was added to the NRHP in 1995.
The Manor House is a historic house on United States Route 302 in Naples, Maine. Built in 1796 by one of the area's first settlers, it is a rare high-quality example of Federal period architecture in the rural interior of the state. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
The Manor House is located on the south side of United States Route 302, several miles north of the town center of Naples, at a location that would have historically had a view of Long Lake to the north. The house is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, five bays wide, with a low-pitch hip roof, brick side walls, clapboarded front and back walls, and a stone foundation. The main entrance is centrally located, with flanking pilasters and sidelight windows, and a semi-oval transom window above. A Palladian window with a half-round central window and narrow side windows is set on the second floor above the entrance, also articulated by pilasters. A single-story wood frame ell extends to the rear.
A Boston is a cocktail made with London dry gin, apricot brandy, grenadine, and the juice of a lemon.
The Boston refers to a series of various step dances, considered a slow Americanized version of the waltz presumably named after where it originated. It is completed in one measure with the weight kept on the same foot through two successive beats. The "original" Boston is also known as the New York Boston or Boston Point.
Variations of the Boston include:
The Borough of Boston is a local government district with borough status in Lincolnshire, England. Its council is based in the town of Boston. It lies around N 53°0' W 0°0'.
Boston borough borders East Lindsey to the north, The Wash to the east, South Holland to the south, and North Kesteven to the west.
Post codes used in the district are: in Boston town, PE21 and elsewhere, PE20 and PE22.
The borough was formed on 1 April 1974 by the merger of the former borough of Boston with Boston Rural District.
Until 1974, Lincolnshire comprised three Parts, somewhat like the Ridings of Yorkshire. In Lincolnshire, "Parts" was the formal designation. They were the Parts of Lindsey, Kesteven and Holland. In their final form, they were each, in effect, an administrative county. The 1974 changes divided the Parts of Holland into two districts; the Borough of Boston is the northern one.
