Finest governmental system?
In the opening of the film 'Overview of America', by the John Birch Society, a rather remarkable claim is made. The film stated that the United States has developed 'the finest governmental system ever devised by man'. www.youtube.com This is an extraordinary claim as most democracies in the world have a parliamentary system which is widely regarded as giving better systemic accountability and being more democratic than a presidential republic in the styles of the US. Separating the Head of Government and Head of State which occurs in parliamentary system makes the executive directly accountable to the people's representatives. The democracy index lists countries in order of freedom and democracy: a330.g.akamai.net In the 2008 list, 18 out of the top 20 countries have parliamentary system and only one (the United States) has a presidential system of government. At the other end of the scale however, 5 out of the 10 least free and democratic countries have a presidential system and none have a parliamentary system.

RFK, Jr. and Ralph Nader Discuss a Possible Parliamentary System
Shortly before the 2008 elections, billionaire Warren Buffet made headlines when he said that he wasn't paying enough in taxes. While this statement made the GOP want to gag, it really highlighted an ugly truth about our current political system - The rich get richer while the poor get taken advantage of. But what if the super-rich people like Warren Buffet and George Soros and Ted Turner all came together to create a better society where the wealthy actually did their part to help the rest of the country? That's exactly the kind of society that Ralph Nader has created in his new book "Only the Super Rich Can Save Us," and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. interviewed him recently for Ring of Fire about this new political work.

Presidential system better for India Shashi Tharoor -CNN IBN
Advocating Presidential system, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that there are 'serious disadvantages' in Parliamentary democracy. According to Tharoor, time has come to revive the debate on adopting the 'Presidential system'. In an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN on November 28 Tharoor had expressed his opinion on Presidential system. "I believe that the Presidential system would be far better in our country than the Parliamentary system because of the nature of our polity and the fact that we have so many political parties, coalition governments have the say in the last couple of decades," Tharoor said. He also said, "Parliamentary system sadly privileges a situation where checks and balances outweigh the possibility of decisive action and instead of electing someone to get something done and then holding him/her accountable at the next elections, we are essentially forced to elect someone who spends a large portion of their time trying to stay in power rather than exercising their power in terms of effective governance." "That is an argument which has no traction in our country, there is nobody in the political class who wants to see any system other than the one already present, which they know how to operate," Tharoor added.

GNN Feb3, Part II -- CoRRECT™ - Economic Liberalization & Regional Decentralization
What is CoRRECT™? What is Constitutional Reform? 1) Economic Liberalization to create millions of jobs and fund national development 2) Evolving Region-based Decentralization to spread out economic opportunities to the regions and provinces and decongest the national capital region. Protect local/regional customs, cultures, languages, etc. 3) Shift to a Parliamentary System - a no-brainer because all international Pol-Sci PhD's worth their salt know that a Parliamentary System is - hands down - superior to presidential systems. Parliamentary Systems are more stable, more efficient, more flexible, more accountable, faster and cheaper. All around superior.
