Glossary-Modus Ponens
Glossary-Modus Ponens
We have "If A, then B." Modus Ponens is a piece of logic that goes like this: if we know A to be true, then we know that B must be true, too.

Hocus Pocus Modus Ponens
Hocus Pocus Modus Ponens
Philosophy is like a puzzle- you never know when your gonna get a bad piece. his trick is cumulative error. its like putting together a puzzle one piece at a time without looking at the picture on the box. When two almost fit, you determine close enough and pound it in. at the end the puzzle will not be correct.

The Rules of Inference, part 2: Conditionals
Part of a series on logic, this video recaps the previous video and goes on to cover Modus Ponens, Modus Tollens, and Hypothetical Syllogism--three rules that involve material conditionals. BM2. Logical Equivalence
BM2. Logical Equivalence
Basic Methods: We define tautology and contradiction and consider the conditions of logical equivalence and implication. Examples include DeMorgan's Laws for logic, modus ponens, and the Law of the Excluded Middle. As a final note, we introduce the Substitution Rules.

Should we use our intuitions?
Should we use our intuitions?
This is a response to an article the Antybu86 wrote on the Tuesday afternoon blog. Link to his article here: 12tuesday.com I maintain that our intuitions give us a prima facie justification for knowledge, all things being equal go with you intuitions. My example is Modus Ponens, If we are irrational to use our intuitions(as antybu maintains), then we have no way of knowing if modus ponus is correct, which is clearly absurd. So it would seem premature to disregard our intuitions altogether.
