Baker Botts L.L.P. is a major United States-based international law firm of around 800 attorneys, with a long, prominent history, significant political connections, boasting more than half of the Fortune 100 companies among its clients. Headquartered in One Shell Plaza in Downtown Houston, Texas, the firm has a major list of energy related clients. It is said to be the second-oldest law firm west of the Mississippi, with Rose Law Firm of Little Rock, Arkansas (founded November 1, 1820) and Lathrop & Gage LLP of Kansas City Missouri (founded 1873) both laying claim to the title of oldest.

The firm traces its history to 1840 in the Republic of Texas, with the beginning of legal practice by founding partner Peter W. Gray. Gray represented the Allen Brothers, founders of the city of Houston. Confederate Colonel Walter Browne Botts (from Fredericksburg, Virginia) joined the firm in 1865, and it became Gray and Botts. In 1872, James Addison Baker (a.k.a. Judge Baker; 1821–1897; from Huntsville, Texas) joined the firm and the name was changed to Gray, Botts & Baker. Gray left the partnership in 1874, to join the Supreme Court of Texas, and the two remaining partners, Walter Browne Botts and James A. Baker, renamed the firm Baker & Botts. Peter Gray also died in 1874. Judge Baker's son, also James Addison Baker (a.k.a. Captain Baker and James A. Baker, Sr.; 1857–1941) joined the firm as a clerk in 1877, a lawyer in 1881, and became partner in 1887, at which time the name became Baker, Botts and Baker.

Patrick Gordon Stanton (born 13 September 1944) is a Scottish former football player and manager.

Stanton joined Hibernian from Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic in 1963 and made his debut for the club against Motherwell in October that year. He quickly established himself in the first team, playing in defence or midfield. Stanton captained Hibs to their 1972 League Cup win and also led them in their centenary year.

Stanton left Hibs in 1976 when he was transferred to Celtic in a swap deal that took Jackie McNamara, Sr. to Hibs. Jock Stein, who had briefly managed Stanton at Hibs in the 1960s, identified Stanton as the man to stop the concession of soft goals. This was an apparent success, as Celtic won the Scottish Cup and the Scottish league championship in 1977. Stanton suffered a bad injury early in the 1977–78 season, after which he retired from playing. Hibs and Celtic played a testimonial game for Stanton on 30 April 1978.

Stanton won 16 caps for Scotland between 1966 and 1974, captaining the side three times.

Joe Louis Caldwell (born November 1, 1941 in Texas City, Texas) is a retired American professional basketball player. He spent 6 seasons (1964–1970) in the NBA and 5 seasons (1970–1975) in the now-defunct ABA, and he was one of the few players to be an All-Star in both leagues. He was also a member of the United States Olympic basketball team that won the gold at the 1964 Summer Olympics.

Nicknamed "Pogo Joe" or "Jumping Joe" for his leaping abilities, Caldwell was a 6'5" guard/forward from Arizona State University. Though drafted by the Detroit Pistons in 1964, he spent the majority of his NBA career with the St. Louis/Atlanta Hawks franchise. After averaging 21.1 points per game during the 1969-70 NBA season, Caldwell jumped to the rival ABA, playing for the Carolina Cougars from 1970 to 1974. More than just a high-flying scorer, Caldwell was also a tenacious defender, and basketball legend Julius Erving once said that Caldwell guarded him better than any player in the ABA.

During the 1974-75 season, St. Louis management blamed Caldwell for influencing team star Marvin Barnes to briefly leave the team. Caldwell denied doing this but he was suspended for "activities detrimental to the best interests of professional basketball." Caldwell never played another pro basketball game and has filed various lawsuits because he believes that he was wrongly blacklisted by the ABA and later the NBA. He scored 12,619 combined NBA/ABA career points.
