Yacht Racing News Dangers in Malacca Strait Volvo Ocean Race Malacca Strait -- One week after the restart of Leg 3 of the Volvo Ocean Race in Male, Maldives, the six-boat fleet in the Volvo Ocean Race has begun making its way south through the Malacca Strait while confronting a multitude of dangers along this particular stretch of waterway. The race officially entered the 500-mile long (800km) Malacca Strait on Friday as Team Telefónica rounded Pulau We island narrowly ahead of the trailing fleet. With Telefónica, PUMA Ocean Racing powered by BERG and Groupama sailing team just 300 metres apart at times over the weekend as they headed south, the three lead boats were keeping a close eye on one another. But as much as the teams focused on match racing each other, the race leaders and three other boats in the race -- CAMPER with Emirates Team New Zealand, Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing and Team Sanya -- were equally focused on the unique challenges posed by the Malacca Strait. This stretch of water between the Malay Peninsula and the Indonesian island of Sumatra is the major shipping channel between the Indian and Pacific Oceans and carries an estimated 25% of the world's traded goods. Two days into the Strait, the Volvo Ocean Race fleet has already had to contend with massive commercial ships, unlit fishing vessels, underwater fishing nets and general ocean debris. 11 September 10 - 2.13 pm, check out from puteri resort and drive to check-in here, hari raya second day public holiday and school holiday, traffic congested in city center. reservation 3 room for 2 night by called this morning, luckily they have a room available. stayed in 11 to 13 Sept, 1st floor, deluxe twin room 109, 110, 111. it is a good place with short walk distance to shopping mall and cinema, but I still have to drive my mum to parking there. a beautiful traditional hari raya and national day decoration the hotel every way. comfortable air-cond around and free wi-fi in room. kids really like swimming pool of the hotel, they swim in the evening before we go out for dinner.

12 September 10 - 9.52 am, stayed in 11 to 13 Sept, hari raya third day sunday and school holiday. hari raya have 2 weeks of school holiday, we are travel to Genting Highlands, and back to Port Dickson and Malacca. sometime when tired of driving, we will stay here for a short rest, during hari raya period, hotel provided season's greeting food and beverage at the restaurant. and the first time we found a very good and beautiful traditional malay cultural dance on stage performance by hotel staff. always lucky that I carry Sony HDR-XR550E HD Handycam when having breakfast, a very good steadyshot for long time handheld filming, and that very confident Sony NP-FV100 7 hours powerful battery, a small Sony ECM-HGZ1 Dolby stereo external microphone always together with my camcorder, good chance to test its special function of audio recording.
