Shahjahan
Circa the Mugal rule in Hindustan, Shahjahan, the present emperor is approached by one of his subjects, whose daughter, Ruhi, is so beautiful, that her suitors have killed her to-be grooms, as well as two of her brothers, who came to her aid. He now seeks the Emperors assistance. Appalled at this, the Emperor confers with his Queen, Mumtaz, and upon her advise asks the father to bring his daughter to be a guest of the palace, and it is from here that a suitor will be chosen by none other than his royal majesty himself. The father does as asked, but one of the Queens aide is troubled by Ruhis august presence, that she fears that the Emperor may take a liking to her, and make her his begum. She plots a devious scheme so that Ruhi is promised to get married to Shiraz. The matter gets quite complicated as Ruhi has already been promised to Sohail. The Emperor and his Queen are so perturbed by this situation, that both become ill. The situation is resolved when Sohail decides to give Ruhi up so that she can marry Shiraz - but not until Mumtaz tragically passes away. Devastated and heart-broken by her death, Shah Jahan feels that she can be made immortal by the building of a royal tomb, and asks Shiraz to come up with such a Mahal. Watch as events begin to unfold, that will finally give rise to one of the seven wonders of the world

Madhubala Sings in Her Own Voice for film Pujari 1946 Bhagwan Mere Gyan Ke Deepak ko Jala De
Mumtaz Jahan Begum Dehlavi, known by her stage name Madhubala (Devnagari: मधुबाला) (14 February 1933 - 23 February 1969) was a popular Hindi movie actress. She starred in several successful movies in the 1950s and early 1960s, many of which have attained a classic status. With her contemporaries Nargis and Meena Kumari, she is widely regarded as one of the most talented Hindi movie actresses. Madhubala was born as Mumtaz Jahan Begum Dehlavi in New Delhi, India on 14 February 1933 in a Muslim family from Afghanistan. She was the fifth child among eleven children of a conservative Muslim couple. After Madhubala's father Ataullah Khan lost his job at the Imperial Tobacco Company in Peshawer[3], the family relocated his family to Mumbai. Young Mumtaz entered the movie industry at the age of nine. Mumtaz's first movie Basant (1942) was a box-office success. She played in it as the daughter of the popular actress Mumtaz Shanti. She went on to act in several movies as a child artist. Actress Devika Rani was impressed by her performances and potential and advised her to assume the name Madhubala. Madhubala soon garnered reputation as a reliable professional performer. By the time she entered adolescence, she was being groomed for lead roles. Her first break came when producer Kidar Sharma cast her opposite Raj Kapoor in Neel Kamal (1947). She was fourteen when she was given a lead role. The film was not a commercial success, but her performance was received well. During ...

It became the first Indian film to gain western recognition, after it won the the Palme d'Or (Best Film) award, then known as 'Grand Prix', at the Cannes Film Festival in 1946But while Pather Panchali and other Ray films have continued to win acclaim at home and abroad - more abroad than home - Neecha Nagar, made during the last phase of the freedom movement (1945-46) with all the restrictions the British could enforce, was never released commercially in India. The film carries the impact of that era's turmoil of a people in the throes of the independence movement. A Gandhi cap-wearing protagonist and his charkha wielding friend were subtle touches that escaped the British censors. Socialism was very much the flavour and Chetan Anand and his group were part of the Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA), a prominent left-leaning cultural outfit. This film was based on a Hindi story, Neecha Nagar, written by Hayatulla Ansari, which in turn was inspired by Russian writer, Maxim ...

A tribute To Shri JawaharLal Nehruji on his PunyaTithi /Death Anniversary today -27-5-1964 to 27-5-2010 Kumar Shri Sachin Dev Burman ( 1 October 1906 - 31 October 1975), also credited as Burman da, Kumar Sachindra Dev Barman, Sachin karta or SD Burman, was one of the most famous music composers for Hindi movies and a Bengali singer and composer. His son Rahul Dev Burman also achieved great success as a Bollywood music director in his own right. SD Burman composed music for 100 movies, including Bengali films. SD Burman's compositions have been mainly sung to a large extent by the likes of Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammad Rafi, Geeta Dutt, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle and Shamshad Begum. Mukesh and Talat Mahmood have also sung songs composed by him. He also sang about 20 film songs (inclusive of Bengali films) for which he composed music though he may not have been the music director of the films. In 1944, he moved to Bombay, at the request of Sasadhar Mukherjee of Filmistan, who asked him to give score for two Ashok Kumar starrers, Shikari (1946) and Aath Din [11], but his first major breakthrough came the following year with the company's Do Bhai (1947). The song Mera Sundar Sapna Beet Gaya sung by Geeta Dutt was her breakthrough song into the film industry. In 1949, came Shabnam, his biggest hit yet with Filmistan, especially noticeable for its multi-lingual hit song Yeh Duniya Roop ki Chor, by Shamshad Begum, which became a rage in those days . 1970s Tere Mere Sapne ...
