Capernaum and the House Jesus made his Home
For fifteen hundred years Capernaum lay under the grass, hidden from sight. Its excavation over the last half century has revealed a house dating right back to the first century that within 40 years of the death and resurrection of Jesus was being used by followers of Jesus as a place to gather together in Jesus name. The argument that this is the house Jesus used as his base is more than persuasive as you stand among the excavated basalt foundations of a first century town.

It is located on the northwestern shore of the Sea of Gallilee[2] and had a population of about 1500.[3] Recent excavations revealed that there were two synagogues in the village: the more recent was made of limestone and was built on top of the older, which was made of local black basalt. Only the foundation walls, some , and the cobblestone floor remain of the earlier structure. A church near Capernaum is said to be the home of Saint Peter. When Jesus left Nazareth, he settled in Capernaum where he chose his first four disciples, James, John, Peter and Andrew. The town is cited in the Gospel of Luke where it was reported to have been the home of the apostles Peter, Andrew, James and John, as well as the tax collector Matthew. In Matthew 4:13 the town was reported to have been the home of Jesus. According to Luke 4:31-44, Jesus taught in the synagogue in Capernaum on Sabbath. Jesus then healed a man who had the spirit of an unclean devil and healed a fever in Simon Peter's mother-in-law. According to Gospel of Luke /Luke 7: 1-10, it is also the place where a Roman Centurion asked Jesus to heal his servant. A building which may have been a synagogue of ...

Part 3 Israel,Golan Heights,Tiberias,Capernaum,Jericho
The Golan Heights referred to as the Syrian Golan by the United Nations and as the Golan by other sources, forms a rocky plateau in the Anti-Lebanon mountains that overlooks southern Syria. The plateau has an average altitude of 1000 metres (3300 ft), an area totaling 1800 square kilometres (690 sq mi), and straddles the boundary between Syria and Israeli-held territory. Elevations range from 2814 metres (9232 ft) in the north at Mount Hermon, to below sea level along the Sea of Galilee and the Yarmuk River in the south.Internationally recognized as Syrian territory, it has been occupied and administered by Israel since the 1967 Six-Day War.The region attracts three million tourists a year and supplies Israel with one-third of its water.Wikipedia Tiberias is a city on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee (also called the Kinneret), Lower Galilee, Israel. Established in 20 CE, it was named in honour of the emperor Tiberius. Tiberias has been venerated in Judaism since the middle of the 2nd century CE and since the 16th century has been considered one of Judaism's Four Holy Cities, along with Jerusalem, Hebron and Safed. In the 2nd-10th centuries, Tiberias was the largest Jewish city in the Galilee and the political and religious hub of the Jews of Palestine. According to Christian tradition, Jesus performed several miracles in the Tiberias district, making it an important pilgrimage site for Christians.Tiberias has historically been known for its hot springs, believed to ...

In episodes 3-4 we will be traveling to The Via Dolorosa, Capernaum, The Sea of Galilee, Armageddon, The Dungeon, The Upper Room. and the Knesset Learn more at www.thestoryofliberty.net Live from Israel is our special radio broadcast from the Holy Land. I was travelling with Matt Staver, founder and president of Liberty Counsel. Two millennia have passed since Christ was born in Bethlehem, the event that marks the start of the Christian era. For over two thousand years people's from all over the world have been coming to Israel, to visit the sacred places where Christ preached His Gospel. They travel to the city of Jerusalem where we start our pilgrimage to discover the Holy Land and understand the Scriptures better. We will be reading passages at several sacred sites connected with them. If you have had the privilege of visiting Israel this radio program can help you relive those wonderful days. Its also our prayer for those unable to visit Israel to date, the land where Christ the Lord chose to live His life, can get to know it better through this special radio program. May this program bring joy and understanding to many.
